All the applications set up in one smart device can do possibly anything to send information across the world. Inventors like Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of facebook, originally thought of the idea to stay in touch with his fellow classmates by the use of facebook. Facebook now has more than 175 million active users (Andreas). About 82% of the world’s online population or 1.2 billion people, have access to a social networking site (Social media growth…). Bad reviews of a company comes in all the time from customers. This can also mean a bad effect for businesses. Back then, companies were able to control the information available about them by simply just pressing charges. Now firms are more like observers that often do not have the rights to press action to all the negative reviews (Andreas). Social media has a platform to interact with so many people with a single piece of information. “ These interactions, such as reposts,likes and comments, are what shape social media success, but they also turn against.. if the comments are negative or off-topic,” (Mercer). The information that company’s do not want to get viral can spread fast enough to reach customers. Negative reviews and comments about a company can jeopardize a small business. Also personal data on social networks are not always safe. Even though, there are high privacy security in the settings, researchers can examine anyone’s friend list and find ways to know more about what a person likes (Frazier). Researchers has also said that social networking applications can lead to depression, poor sleep patterns, and poor academic performance (Frazier). How a person uses social networking can cause these symptoms. Some’s say that it brings people together across the internet and other’s say it sometimes create isolation (Frazier). Social Media therefore has a powerful amplifying effect that can be used for good or evil
