We wonder why our marine animals are now more fastly dying off, but we do not take in considering our actions. This world is made up of 7 billion of people with more than half owning cars. We are slowly fading away our marine animals. We become unaware of the affects we create in our ocean. We don’t take in consideration that the great grandchildren, the great grandchildren’s children cannot see the beautiful creations we once saw when we were all children. The views at the beach where we’d look beyond measures down the ocean to the sunset and seeing the dolphins will not be guaranteed to these future children. We have to make an end to the marine pollution before it’s too late. Are we the cause of all the marine deaths and the 70% of polluted water that covers our earth?
Children look beyond the sea to their dreams, dreaming of seeing dolphins, whales diving into the waters living how a marine animal should. If humans do not stop the affect we cause to animals it may too late to save our wildlife. “Much water pollution starts out as air pollution and slowly creeps into our seas, and creates our marine pollution,” says the WWF – Marine Problems. We need to be the change we want to sea. Our marine wildlife is part of something greater than us. They are part of a food chain that is beyond measures. Millions of motor vehicles engines drops small amount of oil each minute onto roads. Which will make its way to our seas. If we do not take matters into our own hands it will be too late.
Does marine pollution end up costing us? Yes, National Geographic has found that “common man made pollutants that reach the ocean (that included, pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, detergent, oil, sewage, plastics, and other soli...

Oceans are heating up because of the climate change which is killing off many species because many marine life can only survive off a certain temperature. Waters are becoming more acidic because of the carbon monoxide cars bring out.
We need to realize it is not just our marine habitat we are affecting it will slowly come around and affect us in about ten years. It will start causing disease and unhealthy habits. We need to realize the marine habitat is in the same world as humans live so that said we are all going to be affected later in the long run. Let’s all work together an be the change we wish to see before it is too late.

Imagine a lush underwater place. Beautiful structures colorful animals and places that would never have been thought of before. In reality that's not what it really looks like, really the ocean is a desolate place that is barren like a desert. Many marine species have been lost by as much as 49%.(seeker) A big part of that reason is because of coral bleaching which causes as stated above a decline in species that depend on the coral as there home. Coral bleaching is a serious problem that could cause problems for everyone if we don’t fix it.
Skerry says, “The ocean is, indeed, resilient and tolerant to a point, but we must be good custodians.” These words shape the foundation of Skerry’s message to preserve the beautiful ocean we have. The intended audience the speaker is trying to reach are all those who know little to nothing about the ocean and the challenges it is facing. The speaker states, “more and more frequently these days I 'm seeing terrible things underwater as well, things that I don 't think most people realize.” Skerry believes that many people are not well informed about what occurs in the depths of the ocean and decides to focus on them throughout his
Aquatic species are having these chemicals and debris forced upon them against their will. As stated in the article “Combined Sewer Overflows” the treatment plants cannot handle the income of water and the trash in it, so they push the water and the trash out into the ocean (“Combined Sewer Overflows”). Because humans are not able to handle the event aquatic species are being tangled up in or choking on all the garbage and trash from humans. Oil spills are another case were animals are the victims of human actions. "As little as one part of oil per million parts of water can be detrimental to the reproduction and growth of fish, crustaceans, and plankton” (“Threats to Aquatic Environments”). Even the slightest amount of oil will affect the life of any aquatic species. Oil spills also block sunlight, because oil is lighter that water the oil just sits on top of the water (“Threats to Aquatic Environments”). When the oil sits like this it blocks the sun from aquatic plants and kills them. Another problem caused is when aquatic plants are dying they are sinking down to the floor of the water, suffocating the other organisms that cannot move quickly or at all. Oil spills have been devastating to many species for years. Since the oil spill of 1989 a species was so devastated that today the species is still trying to recover from the spill (“Threats to Aquatic Environments”). Oil spills are a major reason that species
High carbon monoxide, ocean heating, glacial melt, acid rain, ocean acidification, and coral bleaching are just a small number of the adverse effects that we as humans are having on the planet. The earth’s waters are an excellent source to find out the adverse effects of climate change. The surface of the earth is covered in more water than land and knowing how our waters are affected is a key element to understanding the true dangers of climate change.
Ocean Pollution is a serious issue in today's global politics. The delicate balance of Earth's ecosystem is put in jeopardy when the ocean is not clean. Problem evolving from ocean pollution directly harm marine life and indirectly affect human health and the Earth's many valuable resources. Ocean Pollution is a Broad term that encpompasses any and all foregin matter that directly or indirectly makes its way into the ocean. This includes everything from the extreme: oil spills, Toxic Waste dumping and industrial dumping-- to the small scael: human activities and basic carelessness. Because the oceans and all other water bodies are invariably, somehow connected, and because they account for 3/4 of the Earth's surface, they are an ideal method of transportation for pollution, allowing the rapid spread of seemingly far away toxins into a river near you! It is increasingly important that we educate ourselves as to what, exactly, ocean pollution is, so that we can identify the causes at their source and take action in small and large ways, and hopefully, prevent this terrible form of pollution from getting any worse than it is today.

The ocean is an abundant source of life. It is home to thousand of different creatures, provides a great source of food, and provides the earth with about one half of the oxygen needed to sustain life. (National Geographic) Pollution especially plastic, is a catastrophic problem. Ironically plastic, which is a material designed to last forever is generally used for things we tend to throw away. Every year about one hundred to two hundred billion pounds of plastic are manufactured. Only 31% of that plastic is actually recycled. Biomass packaging estimates 10% of that plastic ends up in the ocean annually. About 20% of it coming from ships and other platforms, and the other 80% coming from land derived sources, such as international garbage dumping, winds or tides either way it finds its way to the ocean.(Biomass Packaging Co., et al)
...e effect of what humankind does to the ocean, the implications became far worse than any had individually realized. It is a very serious situation demanding unequivocal action at every level. We are looking at consequences for humankind that will impact in our lifetime, and worse, our children's and generations beyond that
Climate change: it has become a touchy subject in today’s society. Some claim that it “isn’t real or isn’t happening” despite the overwhelming evidence that proves it is affecting the planet. Human activity has led to a startling increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels. For the past 650,000 years, the atmospheric level of carbon dioxide had been relatively steady, never reaching above 300 parts per million. In the past 50 or so years, the rate has skyrocketed from 315 to 400 parts per million. The rate in which carbon dioxide is increasing will prove to be catastrophic if it continues on its current path as it has already affected many ecosystems, and in particular, the ocean. The increase in carbon dioxide has two major effects on the
Protecting our oceans The year is 2078. We have barley made it. The air is foggy, people all over the world are struggling more than ever now. The ocean if filled with oils, plastic bags, and bottles are washing up to the shore.
Research from the University of California San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography said that species in the ocean consume a projected 12,000 to 24,000 tons of plastic every year in the Pacific Ocean (Nall, 2014). Pollution of recyclable materials in the oceans is one of the leading causes of why some marine species are nearing extinction. Many authors of articles and books analyzing this topic tend to agree that pollution of our oceans is a problem. The future of this problem is where their ideas tend to differ. The following four literature reviews attempt to demonstrate and support my belief that pollution is getting worse in the ocean and more marine life ecosystems are being affected, but there are things that we as humans can do to change this. Imagine a world where we didn’t have to constantly worry about the vicious cycle of humans affecting animals and then animals in turn affecting us through consumption.
Marine education and promotion of the protection of the ocean ties closely to my service work and I believe the advocacy of the ocean is critical for the generations to come in order to preserve its fragile beauty. There are organizations which claim to help the mission to save the ocean and raise awareness but these companies are just building on the billion dollar industry of animals exploitation. Seaworld's and other Marine park facilities demonstrates their negligence and immoral intentions through the inadequate enclosures, the barbaric harvesting of these animals and their claim that it provides apparent “education” to the public. Marine parks around the world claim that the habitat which the animals live in embodies a healthy and sustainable environment, which the animals enjoy and flourish in. The animals in these marine parks that they claim “flourish”,
But are how are we using and affecting our oceans? How are we trying to resolve some of the issues caused by human interaction? And are there solutions to damage that's already been done? The following will attempt to answer these questions. First, we need to recognize problems so that we are able to solve them.
Did you know that more than 90 percent of all organisms that have ever lived on Earth are extinct? According to Pandey, the author of Humans Pushing Marine Life toward ‘Major Extinction’, nearly 10,000 species go extinct each year, and this rate is estimated to be 1,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate (1). Human beings are causing irreversible damage to the oceans and their wildlife, which is being led by two major reasons: Commercial fishing or over-fishing, which damaged the marine environment and caused a loss in the marine life diversity, and pollution, which is a primary way of the extinction causes that drastically modifies the marine life habitat. As a result of the commercial fishing and pollution, many of the marine species will start disappearing of the oceans. Briggs emphasizes that over-fishing “has induced population collapses in many species. So instead of having less than a hundred species at risk, as was the case some 30-40 years ago, there are now a thousand or more (10).”
