Over 114 million people watched the championship game of the NFL, also known as the Super Bowl, in 2015, but very few probably know how football itself began (Breech). American football is one of the oldest sports in the United States and began being played in 1869 (Pro Football Hall of Fame). I have played the game for about 10 years of my life, and am currently playing at Central Michigan University. With all my knowledge of the game, I still did not have the greatest knowledge about the history and startup of football. After researching, I found this topic to be extremely interesting and I believe it would be very interesting to anybody interested in sports. Football is an extremely fast and exciting game. The first game was believed to be a modified version of rugby and soccer that was played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton. Walter Camp was the first to person write the rules while at the Massasoit convention in 1876. Due to the increasingly popularity of the game, many local athletic clubs picked up the game and began playing it competitively against one another. From 1892 to 1895 the clubs began to pay and write contracts with players, which led to the first professional team being put together in 1896. Once teams began to form, a professional football league became established along with the first World Series in 1902. In 1903, while many college teams were playing the sport, Harvard became the first university to build a stadium designed for football. After being very popular in the Pennsylvania area, the popularity shifted towards Ohio, who at the time had seven pro teams. These seven teams formed their own league, which had created their own universal rules, and played for an Ohio League Championship. Organizations faced problems with the difference in salaries and the constant change of teams for the most popular players. In 1920, the teams came to a conclusion on the repeating problems that were occurring. This led to the start of the APFA, American Professional Football Conference, and by 1922, football had become a more established game with 18 active football teams, mostly in states throughout the Midwest. The name was also changed in this year to the name everybody now knows today, the National Football League or NFL. The NFL began to get more national attention when more star collegiate players started signing contracts with NFL organizations. In 1925, a reported 36,000 fans were in attendance of the Chicago Bears game against the Chicago Cardinals. The popularity of football began to take off and in the same year, there
America’s newfound favorite pastime, football, came from a bizarre chain of events. Football started when a soccer player got fed up with just kicking the ball, so he picked up the ball and ran to the goal. His actions of picking up the ball and running with it fathered a new European sport, rugby, which was soon brought over to American shores, and was altered slightly, the shape of the ball and a few other small rules. The sport became organized into a league and produced the NFL(National Football League). The NFL had a slow beginning, but has picked up popularity, currently having a $9 billion yearly revenue.
The National Football League is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the National Football Conference and the American Football Conference. The NFL was founded in 1920s and ever since then has been a representative of the "All-American, Family Entertainment, Sport". Football is played from kids starting at age five to adulthood and is very popular throughout different races and social classes. The first televised football was carried by the National Broadcasting Company in October of 1939. Approximately 500 viewers in New York were able to watch the game in the comfort of their own home (Profootballhof, 2016). From humble beginnings, the NFL has grown into a formidable giant in terms of revenue. In 2014 the NFL generated more than 7 billion dollars in revenue (Brady, 2015). The NFL offers a unique product known as American Football. Wildly popular, young children grow up watching and dreaming of someday being a player in the NFL. While there may be no direct competition in terms of competing football leagues, it does not mean football has is without competitors. Indeed, any entertainment product that garners viewership and advertising revenue during football game broadcast times can be considered a competitor to the

Football which is otherwise known as the NFL or the National Football League, is an American based sport that involves thirty-two teams from cities all over the country that compete against each other through strategy and strength in order to reach one goal; to win the Super Bowl.
American football for youth emerged as a social benefit in 1929 when Joseph J. Tomlin, of Philadelphia, organized the first competitive youth football league called the Junior Football Conference [1]. At the time, society was experiencing an influx in youth vandalism; thus, in response to the issue, Tomlin’s solution was to create a youth football league to get these idle youth off the streets and into an athletic
Specifically, this paper addresses three management interventions that the NFL needs to undertake in order to enter the global market and change from being known only as only a North American league. The three interventions are: (1) create a shared vision; (2) establish a sense of urgency; and three (3) communicate a new image, the shared vision, and the intent to enter new markets. If the NFL is successful in implementing these changes, then it will have positioned itself to be a contender in the worldwide football sporting industry.
One of the all time great quarterbacks Michael Vick once said, I have always been an outstanding football player, I have always had uncanny abilities, great arm strength, an immense ability to play the game from a quarterback standpoint. In 1920, the American Professional Football Conference would be founded and would feature 14 teams. Though, most of these teams would end up dropping out and not finish their schedule. At the end of the season, only 4 teams had remained. In 1921, the league would grow immensely, as there would now be 22 teams. Of those teams contained the Green Bay Packers, who hold the record for the longest unchanged team name. The APFC would be renamed to the National Football League in 1922.
In dealing with Integrated Marketing Communications chapter, I would throw the National Football League (NFL), as my choice for meeting the standard of the text. I know they are not thought of as a great company, but they are highly successful and profitable. In the 1970's, Major League Baseball (MLB), was king, and looked like they would stay there. The the late 70's and early 80's, the NFL started marketing their product in more and different markets, not just beer commercials or airports. With the advent of cable and satellite TV, they expanded their brand and took off in the early 90's as the nations number one sport. They control and export not just games, but many items associated with the NFL brand, they have a successful TV network,
