I was at walmart one day and helped a little old woman shop for her groceries. My mother and I thought it was the perfect day to go get groceries for the house. First, we got to walmart and started searching for the foods needed at home, when a small, white-haired old lady caught my attention. She was struggling to get one of the many cereals that was on the top shelf. Me, being the sweetest and also the nicest person ever, transitioned slowly over to help her. After, I had gotten a well appreciated “thank you” and a hug. She certainly was satisfied with what I did, because every time we passed her in the store, she’d hug me. Knowing that I had made her day by helping her gave me great pleasure. That goes to show that small acts of kindness can have an impact on others, because it can inspire them, make them feel better, and also make them feel better about themselves. …show more content…
Doing a small act of kindness can inspire others to be kind.
This could be helpful in many ways, because it could create a cycle of inspiration. Leaving everyone with a smile. Inspiration from a small act of kindness can really go a long way for some people. A young girl didn’t know how to tie her own shoes, so I decided to teach her. First, she had a hard time understanding, and that made her give up. I had to force her to keep going, and so she did. After about one hundred tries, she succeeded. That young girl was my sister. She now ties my shoes and my mother’s shoes everyday. A small act of kindness inspired her to tie everyone's
shoes. Also, a small act of kindness can really do good for someone, it’ll make them feel better. Who knows what that person has been through. Showing that act of kindness will make them know you care. An example of this is when my mother was really depressed one day, so I cleaned the whole house, made her a nice sized meal, and turned on her favorite movie. She was really pleased with me, and it made her entire day. I used this as an example of how a small act of kindness can make someone feel better, because she was truly happy. It had made me feel better to know she wasn’t upset anymore. Lastly, a small act of kindness could make someone feel better about themselves. Not everyone has a perfect or good day all the time, let them know you care. A small, simple, and good act of kindness could honestly save a life. A close friend of mine nearly took decided to take his life. It’s terrible that someone gets to that point. The feeling of isolation and not knowing what’s wrong, or how to “fix” yourself is a horrible feeling. I was there for him that night. I saved a life that night, because of a small act of kindness. In conclusion, a small act of kindness can really do a lot for somebody. I doesn’t cost you anything to be kind. Make someone’s worst day the best day. Save a life. Don’t be the one to watch someone struggle, stop what you’re doing and help.
For this assignment, I decided to go to a grocery store by my house named Meijer. Meijer is just like any other grocery store, similar to Wal-Mart, yet higher quality products than Wal-Mart.
Kindness can really make a difference in a person's attitude. In “A Christmas Carol”, the Cratchits and Scrooge's nephew Fred show kindness to Scrooge, even though Scrooge showed quite the opposite to them. Or in “Thank you M’am”, when Ms. Jones makes Roger food and gives him money to buy his shoes, instead of reporting him to the police. Even in “Little Things Are Big”, when Jesus decides to help people even if he has to face prejudism. These stories all show turning points, and these examples show
One has to work hard to consider their values in particular issues and how strongly they feel. This is the choice many people make when they invest in mutual funds, and have no idea where their mutual funds are invested. Many vocal opponents to shopping at Wal-Mart might discover they hold investments in the Wal-Mart. There are 1050 mutual funds that are invested in Wal-Mart, some of the largest mutual funds in the world. There are many people who have no idea where their investments lie. If you want to be true to your value against shopping at Wal-Mart, you need to be careful to remove yourself from investments that support Wal-Mart. You have to review your investments and find out where your money is invested.
Wal-Mart represents the sickness of capitalism at its almost fully evolved state. As Jim Hightower said, "Why single out Wal-Mart? Because it's a hog. Despite the homespun image it cultivates in its ads, it operates with an arrogance and avarice that would make Enron blush and John D. Rockefeller envious. It's the world's biggest retail corporation and America's largest private employer; Sam Robson Walton, a member of the ruling family, is one of the richest people on earth. Wal-Mart and the Waltons got to the top the old-fashioned way: by roughing people up. Their low, low prices are the product of two ruthless commandments: Extract the last penny possible from human toil and squeeze the last dime from its thousands of suppliers, who are left with no profit margin unless they adopt the Wal-Mart model of using nonunion labor and shipping production to low-wage hellholes abroad." (The Nation, March 4th 2002 www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml?i=20020304&s=hightower).
“Our competitors are better because Wal-Mart exists” stated by the chief financial officer of Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is a retail store, which provides groceries, electronics, household appliances, and high quality items to consumers. The retail chain has made a household name within every house by selling products all over the world at a bargain price. Wal-Mart’s strength and pace of growth contributed to a retail store in every city and state across America. Wal-Mart is a powerful conglomerate, which contributes to businesses and people on a global scale through supporting the economy, creating jobs, and bettering the lives of millions.
Environmental Studies is the academic field, which systematically studies human interaction with the environment in which we live in. It is a broad field of study that includes the natural environment, built environment, and the sets of relationships between them. Environmental studies takes into account many different factors that help provide an enjoyable, fruitful way of life, such as national policies, politics, laws, economics, sociology and other social aspects, planning, pollution control, natural resources, and the interactions of human beings and nature.
I always see a homeless person. Whether on the streets, an alley or even the subway. You’ll always see one every time you visit. I get to help one homeless person one time while I was staying in the city for 3 days. It was 12:30 am and I was about to head back to the hotel, but I was thirsty, so I went to a convenience store near, when I saw a girl sitting outside a convenience store. She looks young, probably a young adult. I was thinking, maybe that girl hadn’t eaten anything, and if maybe I could grab her some food. I went inside the store, the only thing I need to buy is a bottle of water, but I ended up buying sandwiches, fruits and a two bottles of water. I took 1 bottle of water out and give the rest of the bag to her. She was smiling and said “thank you”. My response is “you’re welcome” and smiled back. Helping the homeless is one of the little things that makes me happy. It might a small thing for me, but if I put it on their perspective, it is something very
For instance, it was an extremely sunny day in Ghana, West Africa, and I had gone out to the well to fetch water. It was while carrying the bucket of water on my way back that I noticed my neighbor’s children fighting over the insufficient amount of food that they had to share. My family and I were not rich but from what I saw, I knew that we were better off than other people I knew. I carried the bucket of water inside the house and came back outside to call the two youngest children that were fighting over the last grain of food. I shared my food my food with them and though it was not sufficient for all, feeding the younger ones alone was better than not helping any one of them at all. There was only little that I could possibly do but by sharing, I had helped them in a great way, even if it was just for the time being.
I went to the grocery store and got cases of water, bags of bread, and stuff to make the sandwiches. I had finished preparing the bags and each had granola bars, fruit, ham and cheese sandwiches, water, toothpaste, and other hygiene products. My dad and I had arrived outside the homeless shelter and were ready to pass the bags out as we saw the swarm of people. Hundreds maybe even thousands of people gathered sitting in what little shade there was. I knew we had a homeless problem, but not to this extent and the bags I had made were going to make little to no difference on the vast amount of people that had been sitting outside. I was a little disappointed at first to be completely honest because I was not prepared for that many people. If I would have known there would have been so many people I would have made more bags. We drove around the block planning on what we were going to do and saw some tents set up. My dad and I were curious as to what they were, so we got out the car and saw that these people had been giving people food and I walked up to them and asked if there was any way I could help them. These people in the tents were actually an organization called Open Arms Outreach and a few girls scouts. They gladly let us help and we brought a few cases of water and the bags I had made and helped pass them out. The organization Open Arms Outreach
The ancient Greeks storyteller Aesop said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” Thoughtful acts can help people in great ways. Being kind is really important because it helps with people problems. Helping people can make them happy and they could end up helping you as well.
A few years ago when there was a shooting at an elementary school everyone was challenged to do twenty-five random acts of kindness, for the twenty-five lives lost. About a week later my sister and great-grandmother went to the store to pick up some food. While they were there they got scratch off tickets. The ticket got them one dollar so they bought another one, they went to a table so they could scratch it better and they found another ticket that somebody had left there.
The first way I believe that small acts of kindness can impact others is that they can improve a person's mood. If you had been stuck in traffic on your commute, and just having a crummy day overall, and then when you get to your office, you find a coffee on your desk from Bill, your co-worker. Bill is one of those guys who will get you a cup of coffee, or will hold the door for you; basicly a nice person who commits small acts all the time, and adds an uplifting effect on the entire room he is in, improving everyone's mood. This is one reason why small acts of kindness can have an impact on others is how they can improve someone's mood.
One reason that any act of kindness makes an impact is that some people need positivity. First off, one act of kindness could change the receiver’s life forever. There are many people in the world that struggle everyday, and motivation and kind acts can contribute to helping them throughout their life. Also, the receiver will have a positive mindset
...e gas station man handed me a little black box. He told me to get a spare key made and put it into that box. It was magnetized on one side so that it would cling to the outside of the vehicle under the wheel well in case this ever happened again. I thanked them both again for their kind gestures. The man from the grocery store replied "no big deal, think of it as a Christmas present from me to you."
I also had the privilege of helping with the Meals on Wheels non profit organization. My grandfather used to be a Meals on Wheels recipient and he would share with me how he enjoyed looking forward to their company and a hot meal daily. I volunteered because I wanted to give back and help someone else’s loved one in the same way. It was very rewarding delivering hot meals to people who didn’t have the means of getting one as well as being there for them to talk to. Overall, it was a very humbling experience, it made me realize just how blessed I am and how much I take for granted daily.
