Movies. The most stressful, yet a relaxing activity. After thinking about how such a relaxing topic be stressful, I have come to the conclusion that it isn’t the activity that is stressful. It is the planning, and organizing the event that is stressful. To be able to plant myself in the comfortable couches with comfort food and drink and not worry about anything to escape to a safe place. Going to the movies with my friends where all of us are involved in the movie is indeed a very relaxing activity; however, figuring out the logistics of the event beforehand to create a plan for the activity to go as smoothly as possibly is tough. This occurs especially when I go to the movies with my friends. Not only do I have to figure out what movie am …show more content…
This creates a more enjoyable environment as I am able to discuss the movie and talk about it after watching it on the way home. Going to the theatre with my friends is a tough experience as we have to coordinate each other schedule and preferences in order to go to the movies. Before even deciding anything about go to the movies, my friends and I try to work out a time that works the best for us. This gives us a limited options as we also have to keep in mind that we do not have access to a car. Therefore we will have to take the Mall and Market bus on Saturday or Late Night bus that is available Thursday through Saturday. Once we have decided on a date that works best for all of us, we try to search for the movies that are playing in the theatres. This is when the most frustrating part comes, as we are all very indecisive about what to watch. Within my group of four friends, three of us like romantic comedy movies, and three of us like action thriller; it is very hard to please all four of us when going to the movie. If the majority of us want to go see a new movie, most likely the remaining friends are being persuaded to see the …show more content…
If they do, we tend to go the theatre at least a day before to secure the tickets and the seats for the movie that we want to watch. I faintly remember when my friends and I wanted to go to the Fifty Shades of Grey movie on the night it released all the shows were sold out, therefore we had to buy the tickets for the following day. However, when I tried to get the tickets a week after the Maze Runner: Scorch Trials was released we had no problem getting the tickets at good seats. Once the tickets reach our hands and are securely put in our wallets, we start deciding if we want to go eat out. Depending upon how long it has been since we all seen the outside world far away from our campus, and if we are willing to spend the extra money on food that is actually worth it, we decide where to eat. Since most of my friends are engineering majors and barely get to see the outside world, we do decide to eat out at places like Jasmine Thai Restaurant where the food is cooked to perfection and isn’t anything close to what we eat at campus. Once we fill our stomachs, we go to the theatre. We usually end up taking the south campus bus as that is the bus that picks us from the Boulevard Mall and eventually after hours of looping takes us to the AMC. As we make our way into the AMC we all decide if we want to buy

Watching movies is a fun activity that is suitable for one person, large groups, or anywhere in between. Unfortunately, a vast majority of these
The main reason behind people enjoying movies is because of the character. The audience also will not be interested if the movies are too far apart, for example, the Mean Girls movies were seven years apart, making the audience question why there was even another movie made with different plots. The first movie made more money and had higher ratings and reviews which makes it memorable due to the slang terms/phrases used in this movie that are still used to this day. In the second movie, there was a totally different plot taking place that had nothing to do with the first movie. In the first movie, fashion was a different decade which made the fashion different in the second one because of it being a different time in society. All of these reasons prove my thesis, that the first Mean Girls movie is phenomenal film in comparison to the sequel which was a big
You know, films are such wonderful creation. I have absolutely loved going to the movies ever since I was a little boy, growing up in Pittsburg. I remember going to the theatre every Saturday with my wonderful grandmother. My mother used to work as a cashier there, so it was a good excuse to take in as many movies as possible. I must have seen hundreds of movies as a child. That probably explains my somewhat obsessive passion and interest for film and television and my fascination with the power media has to shape reality.
Watching movies is the most enjoyable activities for many people. With friends, families, and a boyfriend or girlfriend, many people prefer to spend their time by watching movies. Not only in America, but in other countries, movies always come in the first place of entertaining activities for many people, and it also has become a major entertainment or habit in our society. Besides of entertainment, some movies also educate people about many things such as places, politics, loves, and so on. After the long hard works, movies help to refresh the mind and to relax for many people. Some people prefer to go to theaters because of its sound system and big screen, but some prefer to watch at home. I always prefer to watch at home because of convenience, intimate, and cost. In your opinion, which is fun? Watching in theaters? Or watching at Home? People have to decide whether they want to go to the theater or at home. It isn’t a hard thought, but its similarities, pro, or con of watching in the theater or at home could be a decision for people. Watching movies in the theater and at home has some similarities, but the differences between watching in the theater and at home are cost and convenient.
In a movie theater, there are experiences that some will not have while at home and watching Netflix, such as the enormous screen, comfortable movie theater seating, and the theater speakers. Netflix can be used in a causal way with friends, but the main purpose of watching a movie is enjoying the experiences one can get from the movie itself. While at the movie theaters, the environment is completely different, because everyone is supposed to be quiet or else they risk being thrown out. The experience does not compare to the feeling someone gets when that intense scene appears, and they get immersed into the atmosphere of the theater. Movie theaters have the opportunity to give someone an unforgettable experience unlike Netflix, because the ambiance is truly unique and unmatched by anyone’s living
Movies were a very popular source of entertainment. Like today, teenagers would use the movie theater as a meeting place to gather with their friends. During the 1920’s America’s economy was not doing well. People went to the theater as a way to escape from economic difficulties or even their own day-to-day problems. Attendance at the movie theaters skyrocketed all throughout the mid 1930’s. On average, about 50 million people
Many people go to the movies. The movies are an escape into a fantasy world. Everyone has a different preference on what kind of movie is the best. Romance, horror, action, and comedy are different types of movies. The kind of movie someone goes to see can give clues to what kind of person they are.
I search through the movie listings to find a film that will be enjoyable. No assurance, because most films contain offensive scenes and dirty language that are completely unnecessary and rather than improve the film, undermine its enjoyment. Children today have, in my estimation, pitiable role models to try to find. It seems the lower the mentality and the poorer the performance, the higher the admiration is for it.
It can be difficult to re-create the experience of going to the movie theater. However, home theaters and in-home entertainment has become more popular as online streaming has taken a precedence in the industry.
There is always that one friend that is terrified of everything or overreacts and it is hysterical seeing them scared. The way they scream and jump is hilarious and gives relief to the fear that was felt previously. The theater is always filled with gasps, screams, and laughter which is slightly comforting because people know they are not alone . Those nights make unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime and friendships that will wear through thick and thin for
Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
Individuals choose to watch a movie as an activity. Some may prefer to go to a cinema to take in a new release or wait to watch it in the comfort of their own home. A social atmosphere is present when choosing to take in a movie at the cinema. Most likely, it’s a date night with your spouse, with friends or a family event. Whatever the reason, it’s a form of enjoyment as you have less distraction. This may include
Stress is defined as “any circumstances that threaten or are perceived to threaten one’s well-being and thereby tax one’s coping abilities” (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 72). Stress is a natural event that exists literally in all areas of one’s life. It can be embedded in the environment, culture, or perception of an event or idea. Stress is a constant burden, and can be detrimental to one’s physical and mental health. However stress can also provide beneficial effects; it can satisfy one’s need for stimulation and challenge, promote personal growth, and can provide an individual with the tools to cope with, and be less affected by tomorrow’s stress (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 93).
