The changes the director produced made a much more dramatic plot to the movie, although the short story had diverse details, they were both entertaining. The story and the movie are different in their own way, but they have the same plot. They both have many details that benefit both in many different ways. The movie and short story are both amazing, intriguing, and interesting. There are many differences between the movie and the short story of “The Most Dangerous Game”. In the beginning of the story, Rainsford fell off the boat reaching for his pipe. Rainsford heard three gunshots and a terrifying scream while he was in the water. He swam towards the sounds which led him to an island. In the beginning of the movie, the ship wrecked. There was a huge explosion that threw Rainsford off the ship into shark infested waters. All the passengers on the ship were eaten by sharks and Rainsford was the only survivor. He kept swimming till he reached an island. There are multiple changes throughout the movie and story. The changes in the beginning of the movie made a much more dramatic scene to keep the audience interested. …show more content…
In the short story, there were no female characters. The director added a female to the movie to add more of a mystery and a romance. Rainsford was alone when he was being hunted by Zaroff in the story. In the movie, Rainsford and the girl were both being hunted, and he tried protecting her throughout the movie. Rainsford’s character was more passionate and brave in the movie because he had to protect the girl. His character in the story was fierce, because he only had to worry about himself. The characters benefit both the movie and short story in many
There are many similarities and differences between the story “The Most Dangerous Game” and the episode of Gilligan's Island that we watched. Some similarities include: someone is being hunted, the setting is similar, and both victims get away in the end. Some differences include: the moods of the stories, the strategies that are used by the huntees, and how the hunter got to the island.
“The Most Dangerous Game” is about a man named Rainsford. When Rainsford falls off a yacht and has to swim to the nearest island, he meets a general named, General Zaroff, who became disinterested with hunting animals, so he switched to hunting humans as a game. He tricks ships into thinking that there is a channel they can sail through, but then
...d coloring of certain images. The novel, however, puts much greater emphasis on the imagination and creativity, and on the main character Tita. The novel really makes the reader feel Titas pain and grow with her as she discovers her freedom, whereas the movie failed to achieve this. Moreover, the movie tends to ignore the significant of 3 integral motifs, cooking, tears and sensuality.
In conclusion, details involving the characters and symbolic meanings to objects are the factors that make the novel better than the movie. Leaving out aspects of the novel limits the viewer’s appreciation for the story. One may favor the film over the novel or vice versa, but that person will not overlook the intense work that went into the making of both. The film and novel have their similarities and differences, but both effectively communicate their meaning to the public.
Bertie Carvel once said, “People's character is their behavior—we're all capable of good and evil”. The quote explains the how good and evil is not born with; it is created by our experiences and behaviors. Good is the ability to sympathize with others, while evil is being cold-blooded and describes people who will go through many extents to satisfy their own desires. “The Most Dangerous Game”, a short action story by Richard Connell explores the idea of good and evil through human nature. The story addresses the conflict of the character Rainsford, who is hunted by Zaroff after he had shipwrecked on his island. On the contrary, Zaroff, the owner of Ship-Trap Island, is a man who has a strong passion for hunting. Hunting animals was not a challenge to him anymore after he had taken down almost all dangerous games.
Overall, the movie and book have many differences and similarities, some more important than others. The story still is clear without many scenes from the book, but the movie would have more thought in it.
To conclude comparing/contrasting the short story to the film is that there were many changes between these two. The main ideas of the short story and the film are the same but the little changes from the short story to the film are much better and make it more interesting to watch. Overall they were both cliffhangers and had many twists and turns but to finish it off the film was better with the changes.
Although I will always love the original, the script, the movie was so fun to watch. We got know why lady bracknell is who she is since she apparently was a dancer and got life by having a baby. We found out instead of hugging miss prism got engaged to dr. chasuble which was interesting. Although I want to say what the real change was in the movie compared to the script you got have to watch the movie all the way through. It will be the biggest surprise of your
Of the many changes made between the book and the movie, most were made to keep the audience interested in the story. Most people who watch TV don’t have a long attention span. Executives at NBC didn’t want to spend millions to produce a movie and then have nobody watch it. The screenwriters had to throw in some clever plot twists to keep people interested. Another reason the movie was different from the book was the material in the book was a little too racy for network TV. Take the ending, for example, nobody wants to see a grown man hang himself. This was a reason the producers had to change some material in the movie.
Along the same lines, the remake makes it easier for the viewer to know more about what is going on by showing more of both sides of the story than the original. There is more mystery in the original because although Jewison gives the viewer all the pieces to the puzzle, he makes them put the story together themselves. McTiernan's version "connects the dots" for the viewer thus allowing them to better understand what is going on.
The main change in the film to the short story is how they had changed
The truth can change a person’s entire view of a situation. Actions done in the absence of truth will be different than that same action done knowing the whole situation. In both Ender’s Game and the Hunger Games there are very many lies told by the authoritative figures that drastically change how the main characters Ender and Katniss react. Although they do both get lied to and don’t know the entire outlay of the world, how they react in these situations can be much different. Just because each character is greatly betrayed with a false truth, doesn’t mean their actions will result in the same outcome.
In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell it talks about how Rainsford is stuck on an island where he plays a game where he is being hunted. Rainsford an expert hunter knows all there is to know about hunting. Zaroff is another expert hunter also knows almost everything about hunting. Zaroff starts hunting Rainsford as game he has not lost. If you do not play the game, you get tortured by Ivan. Ivan can not speak, and Zaroff was a Russian soldier.Obviously Rainsford and Zaroff are an expert on hunting.
In many of the stories discussed, selfishness is the root of evil.Within the story, The Dangerous Game this is seen in General Zaroff where he hunts humans for personal satisfaction. Likewise, we see this in the movie I, Robot where VIKI is so focused on completing her own goal of protecting as many humans as possible she disregards the thoughts of those who she is trying to protect in the first place. In contrast, in the story, we see the main character; Dave becomes the protagonist when he is selfless, putting a child’s innocence above his own emotions when he decides against grabbing the child in order to escape from the sewer. These are some of the many times where being self-centered causes immoral actions.
“Most Dangerous Game” has a clear protagonist and antagonist; Rainsford is the protagonist because he is forced by Zaroff, the antagonist, to fight for his life. Whereas, in “Child By Tiger” the reader is not sure who the good main character is, and who the bad main character is. Although almost the entire short story is about Dick Prosser, the reader does not know if Prosser was the good or bad person. Dick Prosser shoots several people for reasons that the reader does not know. Moreover, the crowd that forms when Dick Prosser is discovered, may have also been the protagonist or antagonist. Dick Prosser may have had a reason to kill these people, but the citizens just did not understand. The difference between the short stories are being that “Most Dangerous Game” tells the reader succinctly that Rainsford is the good and Zaroff is the bad, but in “Child By Tiger” the author makes the reader think about which character is good and which one is bad. “Most Dangerous Game” is lives off of action. Throughout the beginning and end of the story, action occurs. Rainsford “... leaped upon the rail and balanced himself there, to get greater elevation; his pipe, striking a rope, was knocked from his mouth. He lunged for it; a short, hoarse cry came from his lips as he realized he had reached too far and had lost his balance. The cry was pinched off short as
