The creation stories dating back to the Latin American Short Stories have a different set of morals and views that we have since changed. Life dating back to the fifteenth century had many drastic differences compared to how we see things in the twenty-first century and that is because we have adopted a new set of morals on how we should live. Life expectancy is a lot longer now compared to before due to the nature of advanced technology and innovations that were not available before along with education. A main theme that was displayed in the short story of The Men that Were Parted from the Women was the fact that women were seen as being subjective to men in many different ways. Women play an important role in life and they should be treated with greater respect and nothing less, but the men in this short story took all that for granted and later suffered. The men in the story were creative enough that they found a piece of women and began to experiment with it in order to satisfy their needs and wants. The men “held a council about how to turn them into women, since they had neither the sex of a man or a woman” (27). The men began to experiment with what they could in order to find the closure that they so desperately were in search for. The council that the author is referring to is a male dominated one which is a show of power and control. They have the ability to decide the faith of the future and what happens next with this figure. This refers back to the theme because the men are now seeking subjectivity to create their own women figure that will do exactly what they want and not argue against what the men’s intentions are. After the women are able to harness their own silk they spin cocoons for their revolutionary uprising. The women then confront the agent and assail him announcing their revolt and newfound rights, “These wings of ours are invisible to you.” However the agent is unable to directly see the transformation as such he has yet to feel the full effect of the women’s revolt. In addition, the women will gain the freedom to escape from the mill through rebirth within the cocoons where they will grow wings and regain their autonomy as well as identity. Women have given birth to new generations for centuries and have the common stereotype of being caring and gentle. But in the creation myth, women were given to man as a punishment. In the book of collected Greek tales, " Mythology Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes", by Edith Hamilton, women take up important roles that shape each story. Although women are usually characterized as being helpful and motherly, Greek mythology, on the other hand, portrays them to cause distress, fear, and anxiety to numerous men. In Hanna Rosin’s article, ‘‘the end of men”, the author begins by stating that women are taking over today’s society, while the position of men have become a thought of the past. The author recognizes the negativity of having girls as firstborns. In the article, the author states, “Many wives who failed to produce male heirs were abused and treated as domestic servants; while some families prayed to spirits to kill off girl children” (Rosin). In this article, the author gives light to how the preference of having males has decimated from the minds of people and how it has been erased from society. And, goes as far as insinuating that women have overtaken the place of men in today’s society and are seen as equal. However, I disagree because I believe that men just want to keep women down and it is demonstrated through discrimination at the workplace, depriving education, and violence towards women.
Throughout history society has been controlled by men, and because of this women were exposed to some very demanding expectations. A woman was expected to be a wife, a mother, a cook, a maid, and sexually obedient to men. As a form of patriarchal silencing, any woman who deviated from these expectations was often a victim of physical, emotional, and social beatings. Creativity and individuality are dirty, sinful and very inappropriate for a respectful woman. By taking away women’s voices, men were able to remove any power that they might have had.

The events that occur in this "creation story" are crucial in that it begins when God creates man in his own likeness and man is given domination over all living things. The significance is the prominence given to men; God is male and his most important creation is male. The biblical account underlines the supremacy of man while making it clear that women play an inferior role. Furthermore, the biblical account also describes how woman are disobedient and yield to temptation, the result of which is the expulsion of both Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden. In the poem "How Cruel is the Story of Eve", Stevie Smith's castigation towards the biblical story of Eve demonstrates how women have been victims of despair and suffering since the beginning of time. She holds it responsible for cruelty towards women in history, she implies that the values derived from the story of Eve were forced upon women without choice, and finally, she challenges the authenticity of the religious tale on a whole. Without a doubt, women have fallen victim to an untrue, religious tale from the beginning of time, and the poem is an outcry representing the suffering of women throughout history.
There are many ways which one could interpret the topic of finer womanhood, and indeed the call of womanhood is deep. As females we symbolize suffrage and bravery acknowledging our potentials. All women have a role to fill which varies through the years as culture evolved. Today women are treated and seen with respect and equality. It hasn't always been this way, however, during our nation's early years, a small number of hard working women have competed to obtain women's rights. Because of this cause, every women, regardless of its race, can vote, speak publicly, make self decisions, hold government office, and work outside home. To elaborate, it suggests that men are the virtuous ones – and that, by proxy, women are not. It claims men to be the saintly guide of the feminist revolution proposed, and suggests that women are incapable of realising their suffering and subjugation on their own. Of course this view is problematic (especially to those who are interested in a more intersectional feminism), but when looked at in its original context, it becomes even more fascinating.
