Throughout the film, The Lovely Bones, the viewer catches a glimpse of how successful the movie is in portraying the theme of death. Though, the film is different in a few ways, one way being when Susie mentions all of Mr. Harvey’s victims.

Susie Salmon’s guide in heaven is shown as a victim of murder. According to Susie, Denise-Lee Ang, also known as Holly “was waiting for her father to close up their shop when she vanished” (Jackson & Walsh, 2009). The film uses an array of camera techniques to showcase Susie’s emotions during this scene. Through the majority of the scene, there is low-key lighting, which matches the eerie tone of the movie and the theme of death.
