Israeli-Canadian writer and film-maker alongside Toronto based York University religious studies professor Barrie Wilson are stirring the pot again regarding the so-called son of god. They have co-written a book entitled The Lost Gospel in which they claim that Jesus was well-connected with powerful Romans and ideed as a 20 year old survived an attempt on his life.

Far more controversial however is the assertion within this volume that Jesus actually did marry Mary Magdalene who bore him two children. This book is in fact based upon a well-known ancient text, often called Joseph and Aseneth. This text was found languishing in British Library written in ancient middle-eastern language Syriac on a treated animal skin.

Known in ithe English translation by the title - The Ecclesiastical History of Zacharias Rhetor - the British Museum bought it back in 1847 and it moved locations in the Wilson and Jacobovici claim …show more content…

The problem for theology students in this assertion is that this supposedly forgotten text never actually names these two.

In fact the experts say that this well-known Joseph and Aseneth story is Jewish and that there are in fact several translations have long been available to scholars. They state the British library document has absolutely nothing to do with Jesus and Mary Magdalene though Wilson and Jacobovici have managed to interpret this story of Old Testament character Joseph and Egyptian wife Aseneth as some kind of secret code.

They seem to believe that a newly translated passage relating the tale of the couple’s marriage ceremony - celebrated by the Pharaoh of Egypt himself - gives away the secret in the words of the pharoah stating that Joseph was the first-born of God, and that Aseneth was to be henceforth known as the Daughter of God Most High and bride of
