As an art form, opera is a rare and remarkable creation. For me, it expresses aspects of the human drama that cannot be expressed in any other way, or certainly not as beautifully.-Luciano Pavarotti
Even though I consider myself to be an eclectic person with widespread musical tastes I cannot say that I have sampled every genre there is but I hope to remedy that by listening to any type of music presented to me with an open mind and open heart.
The individual that I have chosen to write my music writing assignment about is Luciano Pavarotti who was in my opinion the greatest opera singer of the twentieth century. but I must be honest with you I have never heard this musician sing until I was bored one day and started trying to discover new genres of music to listen to and I typed in his name on google and that website then directed me to YouTube and then I typed in his name there and since I knew of a few composers I typed in Ave Maria and his name and when the video finished loading and I heard that calm, soothing voice come out of such an imposing man I was captivated and since then I have been hooked on opera.

So his earliest musical influences were his father’s tape recordings and because of this at age nine he began singing with his father in the local church choir. Ever heard of a story that sings of the “Angel of Music” and the “Phantom of the Opera”? A tale that once you have listened to the sweet melody that you will realized that you've pasted the “Point of No Return”? This love triangle has captivated multitudes ever since the 1910 original Phantom of the Opera was published in France by Monsieur Leroux, although most story lovers recall the musical of the same name by Andrew Lloyd Webber or the motion picture adaption. Although this story has been entertaining people for over a century, in this new era have prerecorded voices and movements begun to overshadow the talented performers of live theater? Although “The lavish screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera (2005) only deepened the damage” of the dislike of musicals made into film “with non-stars in the leads and an unimaginative production,”(Musical),which version, the live performance or the film, makes the story more attractive? To answer these questions, permit this essay to analyze two methods of storytelling: 2011 live performance Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall and the 2005 film, and decide if music and story lovers everywhere have too “turned from true beauty”.

Classical music can be best summed by Mr. Dan Romano who said, “Music is the hardest kind of art. It doesn't hang up on a wall and wait to be stared at and enjoyed by passersby. It's communication. Its hours and hours being put into a work of art that may only last, in reality, for a few moments...but if done well and truly appreciated, it lasts in our hearts forever. That's art, speaking with your heart to the hearts of others.” Starting at a young age Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven have done just that with their musical compositions. Both musical composers changed the world of music and captivated the hearts of many. Their love of composing shared many similar traits, though their musical styles were much different.
