Stewardship: A Way of Living The lifestyle of stewardship consists of four, distinguishable segments that I have learned to incorporate into my life as I develop into the person God has planned for me to be. This conduct of living includes, “receiving the gifts of God with gratitude”, “cultivating those gifts responsibly”, “sharing them lovingly in justice with others” and “standing before the Lord in a spirit of accountability”. All of the elements listed above have dramatically affected my life fundamentally, and will continue to enhance my character as the future unfolds. Expanding on the first component,“receiving the gifts of God with gratitude” regarding stewardship, has been embedded in my brain by my guardians since I was born. I believe my appreciation for what is provided to me in my life was taught to me by my parents who raised me to be content and thankful for everything in my life. According to the American Psychological Association, “40 to 50 percent of married couples in the United States divorce” (Encyclopedia of Psychology). This statistic is heartbreaking and I do believe that my parents have taught me that being strong and dependent towards family and those you love is one of the most important factors in life. As applying to college creeps upon me, my eyes have opened to the reality of college costs. I am very blessed and fortunately to have a family who can support the price of college, for whatever school I wish to attend, but I also realize I am in the minority.
