The legalization of drugs has been a heavily disputed argument for many decades. If drugs were to be legalized, there would be many benefits that follow. The argument claims that there are two reasons why drugs should not be legalized. One being because moral reasons and the second reason is because of the consequences legalization would bring to our culture; but in reality, the legalization of illegal drugs is very beneficial for both of these issues. In fact the US as a nation would be a much better and safer place for our future generation. Legalization would lower crime rates, generate jobs and also generate more money for the federal government and states.
Morally, in the first argument, it is said that it’s the government's role to make sure our nation is very well protected from the evil of addiction. If the government truly wished to help people with drug addiction issues, drugs would be legalized. Because …show more content…

There is no way that this could degrade our culture, in fact it would better our culture. The neighborhoods and streets would become safer. Drug violence would no longer be existent with the government controlling all aspects of the flow and amount of drugs. Twenty five percent of convictions are drug related. If drugs were legalized with the government controlling the substance flow and all other aspects of the drug this would put an end to those crimes and there would be less overcrowding of prisons. At the same time it would unclog the court systems because less people would be impending a trial. Since drug legalization would significantly diminish crime by the elimination of drug and drug-related crimes, this would remove thousands of cases from the court dockets across the nation, enabling the remaining cases to move sooner and faster. Prosecutors would have more time to handle each case; judges could return to real law and render more thoughtful and realistic
