The Last Meow Essay The Article, “The Last Meow” written by Burkhard Bilger is about a cat named Lady that is dangerously sick. Her owners Shawn and Karen Levering spend thousands of dollars to put her through surgery. Bilger reminds us that many Americans spend $19 billion dollars on veterinary care a year for their pet’s. Including pet food and other products added up to $47 billion dollars a year. I agree that people spend too much on their pet’s, because of my experience of spending almost $200 dollars on my guinea pig just to check his ears confirms it. I agree with Bilger’s statement about people spending to much money on their pet’s, because Shawn and Karen Levering spent over $15 thousand dollars for Ladys kidney
transplant. Shawn had to pull out about $6 thousand dollars from their savings to pay for the surgery, and ended up going into debt because of it. Many people who own pet’s tend to spend way much more on them than on themselves or family. Some will go and buy $200 hundred dollar cashmere sweaters for their pet’, including spending up to a couple hundred on getting their pet’s groomed, and buying them leapord skin beds to sleep on. Karen Levering says “I don’t know what I would have done without the cat’s”, because when she first met Shawn in 1997 she was a teacher at a Christian school and she got re-ended twice, so it was hard for her to stand and teach. While she was at home resting alone because Shawn would work long hours, Lady would be there to comfort her when she would cry. Karen also believes that cat’s deserve “the respect of life”, because since her accident she was unable to have children of her own so her cats were practically her children. With all that has been said on pet owners spending $19 billion dollars on medical care, $200 dollars for clothing ,and a few hundred on leapord skin beds for their pet’s is completely unnecessary. I truly hope with those of you who own pet’s and tend to spend more on them, will rethink about buying them something they don’t need before possibly going into debt because of
It is true that there are people out there who are out of control on their financial spending in regards to their pet. This is the case for many due to the amount
In 2016, the American Pet Products Association found that pet owners are expected to spend 62.75 billion dollars on their pets. This amount is about 4% higher than the amount from 2015 which was 60.28 billion dollars. It’s sad that people spend this much money on their pets, but what’s even worse is that pets don’t have a say in their owners decisions. If a pet is suffering they probably don’t want to live anymore but their owners keep pushing them by paying whatever amount is necessary to keep them alive. In “the Last Meow”, Billger mentions that a German countess left her 80 million dollar estate to her dog Gunther. Instead of doing this she could have donated it to a better

Thousands of animals are put to sleep each year due to not having any available homes for them to be adopted. According to Jennifer Sexton and Tom Warhol in Domestic Animal Overpopulation, “The average female cat can produce two litters of six kittens per year, a female dog can produce one litter of six or more puppies per year, making pet overpopulation a significant problem.” Animal overpopulation is costing money and you can help the pets with spay and neutering programs. A new solution is mandatory contracts for breeders and spay and neuter programs. This paper will talk about spay and neuter programs, contracts for breeders, and why some people don’t think animal overpopulation is a problem. Thankfully there are solutions to this issue of animal overpopulation.

Every play written uses dramatic elements. The main dramatic elements are plot, character, theme, and language. Lillian Hellman, who wrote the Little Foxes, incorporates these elements beautifully in her play. The play is set during the spring of 1900 and takes place in the Deep South part of the United States of America. Just as every other play, the Little Foxes has included the dramatic elements in her play, particularly the plot, character, and language that all incorporate an underlying theme of greed.

Ideally, pet supply would be equal to the demand for wanted pets. There may never be enough caring homes for all the pets as is evident by the fact that only about 25 percent of the pets in shelters are ever adopted. F...

Her feline companion (who she does not know is talking to her) informs her of her lover’s marriage to a wealthy woman, which she presumably cannot be hurt by anymore considering her death. She guesses again, and it lands on “kin”, who is a family member. She is notified by the dog of their acknowledgment that mourning will not be of benefit as she will not come back to life. The woman gives a final guess, and asks if it is her enemy. She learns the opposite, that her enemy has concluded the woman’s unworthiness after death.
As my Aunt and I entered Judy's house which was a fifteen minute drive from where I live, I noticed cut black and white cat long haired cat with a pink nose and mysterious slanted eyes sneaking up on me near the corner of the hallway of the house. Judy shared with me that Katie was spayed, what foods to feed the cat and that she was tramatized. Judy had shared with me that she took Katie to the Shelter to try to find the owners but to no aval. You see, Katie had showed up at Judy's arcadia door so Judy took her in and kept her for several months before deciding to give the cat away.
