He was convicted in November 2004 of murdering his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner, in 2002. Prosecutors alleged that Scott's motive for the two murders was to escape married life and upcoming fatherhood. Peterson is on death row at San Quentin State Prison near San Francisco. CNN gives a very brief timeline of important events, which include Scott Peterson's accusation thoroughly to his incarceration. CNN is clear on showing one of the many reasons why someone should be prosecuted for murdering an unborn. CNN wrote a now, long forgotten article about their personal opinion, which contains their views about the inhumanity of the case, yet some people might argue that he should not receive a life sentence for a choice that a parent should be able to make, which would be having a child or not. But in this case it was not the mothers option to have the child or not, they both lost their lives for something that could have been easier solved if talked about. Scott did not have to go to the extreme, but as he did, he should face all the consequences for his actions.Just like any other person should for killing a unborn
In the case of Drew Peterson, the court docket is important for the accused because it explains the why the different filings and rulings were made pertaining to the admissibility of evidence in this case and if the accused should in fact be accused of the murder of his wife Kathleen at all.
Scott Peterson was an educated man from California Polytechnic State University where he graduated with a B.A. in Agricultural Business. He was married to his wife Laci Peterson who was also pregnant with their unborn son. In December of 2002 Laci Peterson went missing in the Modesto, California area where she shared a home with Scott. Once the investigation of Scott’s missing wife started authorities began to suspect Scott as a suspect in her disappearance. In April of 2003 a fetus and a female torso that was missing hands, feet, and a head were found on the shoreline of San Francisco Bay. The San Francisco Bay area was where Scott was boating the day of Laci’s disappearance. The body was later identified as Laci Peterson and the fetus as Laci and Scott’s unborn son. Scott was also arrested in the month of April shortly after the discovery of Laci and their son’s body and was later sentenced to the death penalty. Over the course of this paper I will cover the whole event of the disappearance of Laci Peterson, relating it to a sociological theory, the impact the event had on our society and how the media had influence over this national event.
This stage is an examination of potential jurors to ensure a fair trial for the defendant. Ideally, voir dire will result in an impartial jury for the trial of the accused. On March 4, 2004 jury selection began for the trial of Scott Peterson. Nearly 100 potential jurors began answering questionnaires about their views on the death penalty and their opinions on extramarital affairs. The nearly 30-page questionnaire given to prospective jurors also included questions as whether they read Field and Stream, what stickers grace their car bumpers and whether they have lost a child. On April 14, 2004 Judge Alfred A. Delucchi dismissed an unidentified Redwood City woman after a brief meeting in his chambers. Defense attorney Mark Geragos two weeks early had accused the retired secretary of bragging to her friends on a bus trip to Reno, Nevada, that she has "passed the test" to get on Peterson's jury and that Peterson was "guilty as hell" and would "get what's due him." May 28, 2004 six men and six women were selected for Scott Peterson's murder trial all said they would be willing to sentence him to death if they convict him of killing his wife and the couple's fetus.
On November 12, 2004, a jury found Scott Peterson guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Laci Peterson and of second-degree murder in the death of their unborn child. He was sentenced to death by lethal injection the following year, and is currently on death row in San Quentin State
Through all the media coverage, Sam Reese Sheppard began to have nightmares that his dad was electrocuted, and that he should be to (Quade). He has guilt that made him have the decision to not have kids because it is hard for him to hold his own life together. There has been a huge change in opinion from people who assumed Dr. Sam Sheppard was guilty. Now people see that he was unfairly convicted. This led people to believe that the death penalty should not be used. Although the case will probably never be decided, with all the evidence that has been found, Dr. Sam Sheppard should be considered innocent.
... or until the child is old enough to leave home and fend for itself. The problem of stabbing the serial killer versus aborting the fetus to save the mother’s life is another scenario where I can see opposition. The serial killer knew he was committing and evil act and meant to do harm while the fetus is innocent and intended to hurt no one.

Scott Peterson has been waiting to die for over a decade. He was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner. The case unfolded at the end of 2002 with what everyone believed was a missing person case. Unfortunately, a fetus was discovered in April of 2003 washed up on the shore and just the next day, Laci's dismembered body was also found near where the fetus had been found. It appeared to be a slam dunk case, and much of America believed Scott Peterson murdered his wife and their unborn son.
Whether the person was sexually assaulted, or it was a mistake, there are always other options. Why do people think it is ok to end a life, but when a pregnant woman is killed it is a double homicide? Many couples cannot produce to make a baby and they seek adoption. If a woman gets pregnant to consented sex, I think the male and female should take responsibility for their own actions and accept the consequences. They made to choice to have sex. Sex is not a game to play around. Sex is to make babies. Having sexual intercourse carries with it the risk of pregnancy, an unborn baby must not be punished for a mistake two couples made and if they cannot support their child, allow them to at least seek a chance at life and put them up for adoption. There are families out there who will love them unconditionally! A human life begins at conception. In 25 days the heart starts beating. Abortion is no different to murder since it is an act of taking a human life. Taking away an innocent life, a being that has neither defense nor protection. Millions of families in the United States or around the world wanting to adopt a child, I do not see such thing as an unwanted pregnancy. Why should women’s risk their health by making a hasty decision? Terminating an innocent life, which can possibly result in medical condition later in life, the chances of miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory
In conclusion, a fetus is a potential human being that has moral rights like an adult do and the fetus may have creations and inventions it might establish to better our society. We all work towards preventing harm in the society rather than bringing harm to the society by taking away a person who might contribute a lot to the society if given the chance. The bottom line is that the fetus/child is innocent of any crime, so why punish it?
The fact is that the current law allows a woman to get an abortion for any reason she deems necessary. It seems ironic that a people can get so emotional when it comes to animal rights, yet see no wrong in ripping a developed baby from the protection of the mother. It is not the child's fault that he or she was conceived. Some people argue that the developing is not technically a child yet because it cannot live on its own. Most of the procedures in murdering the growing child can be painful to the baby and be harmful to the mother. So how can we as a nation make sure criminals are executed painlessly and let children be murdered by extremely painful measures. At 18 days after conception, a baby's heart is already beating, and at 6 weeks, brain waves can be measured.
One moral argument is that the fetus is an innocent person and it is wrong to kill an innocent person therefore it is wrong to kill a fetus (Roth, 2005). The opposite argument can also be made. The fetus ...
A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) Abortion should be banned because too many babies are being killed from abortion, if you don't want a child you could always put it up for adoption, and most mothers don't understand the consequences that occur from abortion.
Just because a fetus may not have a complete eye or leg formed does not mean he or she is not a human. Many people who are against death penalty are in favor of abortion. Abortion is one of the worst types of murder because it is the killing of a person who has not committed any sin. Those who practice abortion should receive the same penalty that they give the baby. Having an abortion is the act of inhumanly being and also it 's the act of murder. Kids today take no responsibility at all for their actions, therefore, they need to stand up and be held
Yet, I have clearly shown that the fetus is a separate person with its own heart, lungs, brain, and all different body organs. The oppositions would say that it is the woman’s right to terminate her own pregnancies. Yet, in the eyes of the law two charges are filed when someone kills a woman and her fetus, so how is it her right to kill another human being? A woman doesn’t have four arms, four legs, two heads, four kidneys, two hearts, and two brains… so how is it only her body?
