I would like to explain why I took the LSAT three times. To explain my low LSAT scores, I would first have to explain why and how I was diagnosed with a learning disability at Florida State University. In 2001, my academic advisor advised and referred to Florida State’s Adult and Learning Evaluation Center, because I was failing most of the college level mathematic courses. I completed a psycho-education evaluation and assessment test and was diagnosed with a learning disability that contributed from academic problems, associated with college level mathematics. After my assessment, I received extended test time and alternative testing accommodation for all my mathematic courses. Because I did not have the proper the resources available to me, all my college level mathematics “F” grades on my transcripts were removed and replaced with “WDs”. After receiving test accommodations at FSU, my mathematics grades improved significantly and I over came my learning disability block with the help of Florida State’s resource center.

From the start of the American Civil War, 1860, until the end of the Reconstruction, 1877, the United States of America endured what can be considered a revolution. Prior to the year 1860, there was a lack of union because of central government power flourishing rather than state power. Therefore, there was a split of opposite sides, North and South, fighting for authority. One major issue that came into mind was of slavery. At first, there were enactments that were issued to limit or rather prevent conflict to erupt, such as the numerous compromises, Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850. They did not fulfill the needs of the states, South states in particular; therefore, in the year 1860, the Civil War had commenced. There was the issue of inequality of Blacks in suffrage, politics, and the use of public facilities. However, much constitutional and social advancement in the period culminated in the revolution. To a radical extent, constitutional development between 1860 and 1877 amount to a revolution because of events like the Emancipation Proclamation, Civil Rights Act, the amendments that tried to change African Americans lives in American Society and contributed to get the union together. There is the social developments as well that to a lesser extent had amounted to the revolution because of organizations like the Klu Klux Klan, Freedmen’s Bureau lacking, and discrimination against African Americans that caused progression of violence and white supremacy.
Standardized tests, such as the SAT and the SOL, have been implemented for many years now for individuals in grade school to take. The SOL’s, or Standards of Learning tests, are Virginia’s version of standardized tests that students are required to take in order to pass a class, evaluating their knowledge on a specific subject. SOL’s are mandatory for students to take as soon as they reach third grade. Additionally, the SAT is a test taken in the final years of high school that colleges look at when comparing students for post-secondary school. Napoleon used his status and power during the Revolution to bring out and surface Revolution ideals and help his people. Napoleon’s role in European history was the savior of the French Revolution due to the fact he accomplished most objectives that the people hoped for. Goals of the French Revolution included overthrowing the old regime of an absolute monarch, write a basic and worthy constitution, and give more rights to the third estate and limit the first and second estates power in the Estates-General.
California Exit Exam Fails the Test High school graduation exit exams continue to make news across the nation. California, along with 25 other states, requires students to pass a high school exit exam to graduate. The California version is administered to students at the beginning of their sophomore year and measures student abilities in reading, writing, and mathematics. If students do not pass the test, they are given the opportunity to retake the section failed or the entire test up to two times per school year in grade eleven and up to five times per school year in grade twelve. In addition to other graduation requirements, public high school students must pass the exam before they receive a high school diploma.

Throughout my career at WHS, I have maintained nearly perfect grades and worked hard to excel – not just to earn an A, but to fully understand the material. I have taken every advanced course offered to me and more. I have taken 7 AP tests and earned 7 5’s. I scored nearly perfect on the SAT (superscore of 2380), nearly perfect on the ACT (raw score of 35.25), and have pushed myself by taking AP courses over the summer and performing well in ACP classes. The rigor of my classes has allowed me to earn a GPA of almost 4.6, and I’m still ready for more.
Another example of this phenomenon took place in Toledo, Ohio. Nathan Card, a graduate of the 2017 class of Ottawa Hills, received a 35 ACT, but was rejected by schools such as Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Dartmouth, and Cornell. All of these students met or exceeded the requirements for both of these schools yet they were somehow rejected even with high test scores. These are not the only students that have come across this issue, countless students across this Nation have experienced these similar issues. These tests can have a negative impact on students, as Columbia University recently stated that “Standardized testing evaluates a student’s performance on one particular day and does not take into account external factors.
The purpose of this proposal is to examine current and future Iowa State University admissions decisions processes. At the present time most colleges, including Iowa State use a combination of standardized test scores, high school class rank, high school grade point average, and essays to make decisions on admissions. All of the above are good determinants of a student’s possible success in college, except standardized test scores. Standardized tests discriminate against minorities and are not a good overall indicator of a student’s potential. For these reasons and others, Iowa State should not use standardized test scores when making admissions decisions.

In conclusion, time management, the SQ3R method, and a positive attitude are good skills to have to succeed in college. LSAT 300 has introduced me to many new skills that will help me succeed in college. Also, I have gained more confidence and know I believe I can succeed in any class. LSAT 300 is a great class for new college students or seven juniors and seniors. Everyone can benefit from taking this class.
When applying to University there are multiple steps which lead to many frustrations and stress. Everyone from the top student to the student who is forced to apply, deals with these frustrations. In my experience, I threw things, abused my computer, and my eyes may have watered from the frustrations of course. Not only is the process hard, filling in every form, obtaining letter of recommendation, but the four years that you spent trying to come up with the information you are providing was hard.
Exit Exams are an unfair way of determining whether a student should or should not receive his or her diploma. Most students work very hard throughout high school to receive good grades. This should be enough to determine whether a student should pass high school. There are many intelligent students which do not have good test taking skills, exit exams keep many good students from graduating and teachers have to narrow their lesson plans for these types of exit exams. These are all good reasons why exit exams should not be required in graduating from high school.
Years of academic success seem to be forgotten about and overlooked, because the ACT/SAT give colleges a “good enough idea.” However, these tests merely test you on how well you can take a test. Students aren’t actually concerned about knowing and comprehending the information rather than just making their best educated guess when they’re unsure. These are the habits that these tests are teaching students. Instead of the focus being on the involvement, or the years of hard work and effort the students have put in, the focus is placed on a test that is five hours long. There is no way a test that is so short could represent years of hard work.
Throughout my life I have always put as much effort as I could into everything I did and my reward would be success, but in the summer of 2015 I learned otherwise.
