Everyday the average American family uses about 400 gallons of water a day. In some countries, the average family is lucky if they can even get enough to fill up a glass. In Linda Sue Park’s A Long Walk to Water, we hear the story of a boy in Sudan, named Salva in search of water and refuge. Salva shows that he is a survivor by making it through challenges like, dangerous animals, loss of loved ones, and mother nature. This story takes place during a war in sudan. It forces Salva to leave home and go on a journey with a group of people that he’s never met before.
To atone for his past sins, he embarks on a journey back to Afghanistan to redeem himself to Hassan for not treating him the way he was treated. He redeems himself by saving Sohrab and giving him a safer and enjoyable life in the Untied States. Amir tyres to attain redemption to baba for being the cause of his mother’s death as he believes. Gaining his fathers love and care will make him feel redeemed from all of the resentment and lack of care that his father shows to him. He must prove to Baba that he is worthy of spending time with everyday because he feels the hatred that his father shows to him. One way how he gets redemption from his father is by winning the kite running tournament to prove to him that he is worthy of being his son. Amir’s path of redemption is not only directed to other people but personal redemption for himself. He attempts to redeem himself by building an orphanage with his wife Soraya and giving Sohrab the childhood that is safer and more suitable for a young boy to grow up in. Amir has to realize that the past doesn’t define who someone is although you can’t forget the past, the actions that they decide to do to redeem themselves from the past mistakes defines who someone is. If Amir’s mother did not die at birth would he be resented from his father greatly and have to make great

When Amir takes Baba to the doctors, the doctor suggests chemotherapy for Baba to prolong the cancer but Baba did not want any medication. Amir tells the reader, “He had the same resolved look on his face as the day he’d dropped the stack of food stamps on Mrs. Dobbins’s desk” (156). Baba did not want help even if his life was on the line. Baba also starts to take pride in Amir when he tells General Taheri, “Amir is going to ne a great writer,” Baba said. I did a double take at this” (139). Amir is starting to realize that his father who was untouchable and was a legend in Kabul was truly human. When Amir tells Baba that he wants to marry Soraya, Baba calls General Taheri to set up a meeting between the two men. As Amir dropped off Baba at the Taheri’s for the meeting, he says, “Baba was hobbling up the Taheri’s driveway for one last fatherly duty” (163). In this instance, Amir sees Baba as a true father. Amir feels Baba’s acceptance when Baba tells Amir on lafz, “It’s the happiest day of my life Amir” (166). Baba is telling Amir that through everything in his life from him marrying Sophia, to Amir winning the kite tournament, all the way to Amir graduating high school, Baba has never been prouder. After Baba’s death, Amir says, “As words from the Koran reverberated through the room, I thought of the old story of Baba wrestling a black bear in Baluchistan. Baba had
The other source of tension in Amir’s life is his relationship with Baba, his hard-driving and demanding father. Desperate to win his father’s affection and respect, Amir turns to the sport of kite flying, and at the age of 12, with the assistance of Hassan, he wins the annual tournament in Kabul. Amir’s victory soon is tarnished when he witnesses a vicious assault against his friend, who raced through the streets of Kabul to retrieve the last kite, Amir had sliced from the sky, and fails to come to his aid. Amir’s cowardness is compounded by a later act of betrayal that causes Ali and Hassan to leave their home, and he now faces the nightmare, bearing the burden of his poor choices for the rest of his life.
Soon, Amir and Soraya got jobs in a hospital located on the Afghan-Pakistani border. Hosseini used this to imply that the efforts of many people like Amir, Baba, and Soraya can help Afghanistan heal and become great again. One day in the local park, Amir bought a kite from an Afghanistani kite seller and took it over to Sohrab. Amir told him about Hassan and his superb skills at both kite-flying and kite-running. He asked Sohrab to kite with him, and as expected, there was no response. However, when Amir started to kite gleefully as he hasn't for decades, Sohrab followed him. With this scene, kites have returned to the novel as hopes for a brighter future. The simple action of Sohrab kiting with Amir proved that there is always hope in every situation. Amir demonstrated Hassan’s favorite trick to Sohrab, who showed a keen interest in kites like his father, and then he thought of his memories of Kabul as he severed the green kite's string. As if on instinct, Amir returned to his blissful memories of kite-flying with
The heat affected Nya and Salva by dehydrating them. So Nya and Salva had to drink more water because it's hotter. It was very barren and it made the journey easier to walk because you could see very far away and there was little vegetation. The sun would be very annoying on a long journey because there is little shade and it makes it hard to see. Salva and Nya´s journey would be agonizing because you have little water and it is very hot.
There are many countries that are located in dried up areas which are the hottest areas in the world. Some of the countries located on the earth’s equator are surrounded by desert and the majority of the land consists mostly of sand which does not hold water. There are not enough trees to absorb water during rainy season. In some areas, there is no rain for several years. The temperature is very high during the dry season. Jay W. Sharp states in his article The Sahara Desert, the temperature in desert areas are extremely hot. The average temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and it can reach 136 degrees Fahrenheit. For example, Sudan, where Nya lives, is generally extremely hot and dry because the country has no forest and is surrounded by the Sahara Desert, the second largest hot desert in the world and covering many countries that include Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and others. Similarly, in the book A Long Walk to Water, Nya finds water every day for the family. During the summer, there is no water in the pond near her village, so she has to move to the big lake. Even at the lake, it is still dried up, too. Because water is essential, she has to dig into the clay to get the water, but it is unhealthy, and it is the cause of disease and death. Nya’s little sister, Akeer, had stomachaches because of drinking unclean water. There are many people who suffer from the same illness, and many of them have died. In these countries in this area, it is hard to find water. Even if it was found, it is still undrinkable

It was believed that this symbolized the Qur’anic concept of paradise, which includes a garden with four rivers flowing with water, wine, honey, and
Water resources are poor and are restricted to torrent storms which occur randomly in place and time. Rainfall percolates through the gravel and sand deposits of stream (wadi) beds forming local underground reservoirs (Abu Al-Izz 1971). Water shortage, topography and poor soil conditions are the main limitations to sustain traditional agriculture, however, drought resistant vegetation or typical desert plants (Xerophytes) are observed scattered along the coastal strip and in valleys. The Eastern Desert of Egypt has harsh living conditions due to prevailing hot and dry climate. Administratively, this desert is named the Red Sea Governor...
