The Jerry Springer Show is a rough, crude and ruthless talk show, but Jerry Springer is not. By watching the show, people would think that Jerry Springer was a crude person. Just the opposite, Jerry Springer is a very intelligent and well accomplished person. The Jerry Springer Show is considered entertainment to some, and sleaze to others. This show is a big hit and not just in the United States, but are people taking the show to literally?
I was very surprised to see what kind of man Jerry Springer is. Jerry Springer was born in London, England in 1944. At age five, Springer and his parents immigrated to New York City. Springer may seem shallow and dirty, but he actually is a very intelligent person. He has a degree in political science from Tulane University and a law degree from Northwestern University. At age 33, Springer was elected Mayor of Cincinnati. Later, Springer pursued his career in television. He was a political reporter and commentator in Cincinnati. He then became Cincinnati’s number one news anchor.
Springers employers took him to lunch and gave him a new assignment of hosting a talk show. The first Jerry Springer show was aired on September 30, 1991. After watching his show, I thought that he would be like his guest. The background of Jerry Springer shocked me. He is nothing like the guest on his show. He has many accomplishments and is very smart.
The talk show is like no other on television. The ratings of The Jerry Springer Show have surpassed The Oprah Winfrey Show. What makes this show so popular? The Jerry Springer Show was shown during a school mid-term last September at a Bridgeport Connecticut high school. A student at Stratford High School was attacked by another student after viewing the show. The students say that the show sparked a disagreement and one student attacked another student as they left class. Besides having teenage call girls on the show there are some serious topics, such as Klu Klux Klan. You do not have to be a certain age to be targeted by the show, you just have to be entertained by it.
If you want to see fights of many kinds, tune into The Jerry Springer Show. There are many people who are opposed to this “trash TV,” but there are plenty who find it entertaining. Jerry Springer said that he does not get a lot of hate mail simply because, “If they don’t like it, they don’t watch it.”
In the beginning of the 1960’s, talk shows were usually devoted to either light entertainment containing comedy, celebrity guests, and music or more serious discussions of the news and politics. They were created based on “controlled spontaneity.” Talk shows covered a variety of topics from the news to gossip, sports to religion, and hobbies to advice (Gregg, McDonogh, Wong). Hosts like Geraldo Rivera pursued formats that were similar to this; however, when Oprah was brought into the picture, she set herself apart from other talk shows of that time and changed daytime talk shows from being gossipy to intimate (News discovery).
In conclusion, even though patients with Alzheimer’s disease live through a daily struggle, it can be managed if certain precautions are taken. Learning to cope with having Alzheimer’s and taking care of another with Alzheimer’s is very important for recovery and preserving the mental state of a possessor. Within the near future, finding a cure and other treatments will soon be possible. Lastly, although there is no current cure for this disease, by becoming educated it can be conquered in order for a patient to live to their fullest potential.
Alzheimer disease is a condition that causes the nerve cells in the brain to degenerate and the brain matter to shrink. It affects parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. It can only be diagnosed by a histopathologic examination, to check for the presence of tangles and plaques, which are primary causes of Alzheimer's. Neurofibrillary tangles are bundles of twisted fibers that accumulate in the cell bodies of neurons. Neuritic plaques are round or oval lesions consisting of an amyloid protein core surrounded by fragments of damaged neurons. These types of lesions occur in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus, the regions of the brain which control such higher intellectual functions as memory, thinking, reasoning and sensory perception.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, and this terminal, progressive brain disorder has no known cause or cure. Its greatest known risk factor is increasing age which is why is it is infamous for developing in the elderly, typically in ages 65 or over, however for the 5%(1) that develop Alzheimer’s in their 40s or 50s it is known as early Alzheimer’s. Because Alzheimer’s worsens over time, those with it tend to struggle with completing daily tasks especially elderly people. Given that there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, the treatments available slow the worsening of dementia symptoms and improve quality of life for those with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. It is not known what causes Alzheimer's, however, those with Alzheimer's have been found to have abnormal amounts of protein (amyloid plaques) and fibres.(The amyloid plaques and fibres are found in regions of the brain where problem solving and thinking take place e.g The cerebrum.) Due to the unusual amounts of amyloid plaques and fibres, it reduces the effectiveness of healthy neurons and eventually, destroying them.

It is the most common form of dementia (around 50-60% of all cases of dementia). it affects 1 in 20 people over the age of 65 and 1 in 1000 people under the age of 65. Although it affects more people over the age of 65 it doesn’t mean that age is the cause of the disease. Patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease suffer from memory loss, thinking difficulty, loss of language skills and changes in behaviour. No one is immune to this disease. Alzheimer’s disease is named after Dr Alois Alzheimer’s. In 1906 he noticed changes in the brain tissue of a woman who died from an unusual mental illness. Her symptoms included loss of memory, language problems and unpredictable behaviour. After her death he examined her brain and found abnormal protein fragments called plagues and tangles. These protein fragments are the two major features of Alzheimer’s disease. The third is the loss of connection between nerve cells and the brain.
A myth about Alzheimer disease says that nothing can be done about the disease. This is not true. Much can be done to assist the person with Alzheimer’s disease to maintain the highest possible level of functioning as long as possible and in providing the highest quality of life.
Another theme seen all over today is the fighting between two men or woman for the love of a woman or man. So many television episodes have been designated for this theme because of its popularity with the media. Jerry Springer is just one example. So many people enjoy this show because of the violence that is shown when two people are fighting, especially two girls for one man. I think it's rather stupid though because there are plenty other men or women in this world that one could desire.

Currently there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, scientists have also tried to increase the time for which the disease can fully take over the nerve cell connections, however that to cannot be achieved present-day, sometimes if the disease is caught early on it can be slowed down, but it is very rare. They are however developing treatments that may help with the symptoms. Out of about 7 billion people in the world, 300 million are American and the Alzheimer's Association states that, “More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease today” (Stone, “Genetics and Alzheimer's”).
