When asked what the Gospel is, some Christians scramble just to explain something so simple that humans have complicated so much. The Evangelist Larry Moyer has simplified it down to this, “Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead.” The last part of this sentence is the most important though. What is just as bad is watering down the importance of the resurrection. So many different people throughout the centuries have tried to explain away the resurrection with something that could have happened. The resurrection is the most important part of the Gospel and it must be defended.
Jesus Christ is a man who lived during the first century Who was a perfect man because He was God. He also did so many great things such as healing the sick and speaking with wisdom so far above anyone else that has ever lived; even Solomon. The greatest thing He ever did while He was on Earth though was becoming the ultimate sacrifice for everyone who has ever lived. He did this by suffering and dying on a cross. He died for each person individually. If there was only one person who ever needed saving, Jesus would die for that one individual. God the Father hates sin so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for the whole world. It doesn’t end there though. After being buried in a tomb for three days, He rose again and was alive.
This resurrection proved that Jesus was God. The ultimate sign to show that He was God was this. After He was risen from the dead more than five hundred individual saw Him. In the book of 1st Corinthians Paul is writing about the resurrection of Christ and says that about five hundred people saw Him. And most of those people were still alive! He included that little bit about them still being alive so that i...

... will be dead for three days and then rise again. Jesus also compares Himself to the Temple in Jerusalem. He says that He will tear down the Temple and then raise it up again. When the Pharisees see this, they think that Christ is literally talking about the Temple when in all reality He is talking about His own body.
So many times people do not really take into consideration the importance of the resurrection. The resurrection is the foundation for our faith. Jesus Christ is God and He beat death. It does not matter how much evidence is presented. If a person comes to look at the evidence with an attitude that it never happened, no amount of evidence will convince them. The only thing that would convince them is the Holy Spirit and also the Word of God. Those are the two tools that are always essential for witnessing. The resurrection is powerful and changes lives.
Jesus Christ became human and walked with men and women. The Creator of heaven and earth became a creature and entered the creation that he made into existence. God made himself known so humanity could have the most basic understanding of who he was and Christ there would be no Christianity. Jesus taught mankind a high view of Scripture and inspired his followers and others to uphold it as God’s Word. (A Starting Point for Wisdom by Jason Hiles and Anna Faith
Jesus is the eternal son of God. Jesus died for our sins on the cross. Jesus took on flesh so that he could be one of our mankind, but he is not just man; he is God in flesh, the second person in the Trinity. “The son is the image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation for in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together (Colossians 1:15-16). Jesus is also the Lamb of God, as there has always been the image of Jesus as lamb being sactificial which represents that Jesus being the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (Martens,
In 1 Corinthians 15, this is the most important chapter in the bible, when resurrection is the main topic talked about. This section of 1-26, talks about the physical reality and assurance of resurrection. Even though Paul is basically trying to prove that resurrection exists, he is mainly trying to say that Christians will be resurrected. In this passage Paul tries to solve the issues that the Corinthian were dealing with based on the resurrection of the deceased. Paul used vital information and personal experiences in this passage to prove that resurrection occurs not only in Christ but in man as well. He first uses sections 3-11 to try and explain how much the gospel is vital to understanding resurrection and it’s historical importance. Paul shows all confidence in the gospel because of the facts of Jesus’s resurrection. The second section is Paul trying to explain the repercussions if resurrection didn’t exist. He explains that all apostles would be false witnessed and they would still be living in their sins. However, he ends the passage by combining Christ and man’s resurrection and says that Christ is the first of many men to be resurrected.
The life of Jesus is told in the four gospels of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They speak of His virgin birth, His ministry and miracles, His death, and His resurrection. Jesus was born into humanity through Mary but was conceived without a human father (Matthew 1:18) making Him fully man and fully God. He was called the Son of God, (1 John 5:20), the second person of the Holy Trinity. Jesus taught about the kingdom of God and how we are to love everyone, even our enemies (Merrick, 2015). Jesus was the only human to live a sinless life so He was able to fulfill His purpose on earth to provide a way for man’s relationship with God to be restored. “In Jesus’ life, one beholds not merely the lengths to which God will go to save humanity, but the nature of the wisdom, love, and the power of God who saves.” (Merrick, 2015) God provided a plan so man could be redeemed and
The Gospel of Matthew is an eyewitness story written for an audience of believers, under great stress, and persecution. Matthew develops a theological plot incorporating genealogy, speeches, parables, inter and intra textual references, common vocabulary, and fulfillment quotations, with a tension that builds as we are invited into the story. The crucifixion and resurrection bring us to a Christological climax that symbolically points beyond its conclusion to God’s Kingdom, bringing atonement, salvation and the ushering in the Eschaton. The extraordinary events surrounding the crucifixion act as commentary, adding important details concerning the death of Jesus.1
He is God incarnate who became flesh to take away the sins of the world. He was a poor servant, an obedient child who grew up with wisdom and understanding and became man so that the Word became flesh to dwell among humanity (Weaver, 2014). For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus’ ministry was to preach and teach about the Kingdom Of Heaven and these teachings are the revelations that mankind are to live by in order to get into Heaven and find salvation (DiVincenzo, 2015). The teaching about the Kingdom was for God to restore his creation into the right relationship with himself (DiVincenzo, 2015). This was established so that he and his people can be together in peace, justice, and truth (DiVincenzo, 2015). This identity of Jesus and the work that he did on earth is important to the Christian worldview because it shows that God fulfilled his promise of the Messiah to save the world and it also fulfilled the scripture of the one that was to come. This is an essential element to the beliefs as a
One of the most talked about myths in Christianity is the story of how Jesus Christ was crucified but came back to life. When he was crucified for human sins and when he resurrected he took mankind sins away with him. There are many functions and theories that try to explain this myth. Whether individuals believe in the myth is up to them. That being said, this myth is one that is followed by numerous people around the world.
This can be verified and proven true, based on eyewitnesses. After the death of Christ, the lives of the writers of the New Testament were radically changed. They traveled where they had not gone to reach out to people outside their comfort zone. They died in their attempt to spread the message.
"1 Corinthians 15:12 But If It Is Preached That Christ Has Been Raised from the Dead, How Can Some of You Say That There Is No Resurrection of the Dead?" 1 Corinthians 15:12 But If It Is Preached That Christ Has Been Raised from the Dead, How Can Some of You Say That There Is No Resurrection of the Dead? "Sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." (James 1:15), or as Paul puts it in Romans 6:23 " the wages of sin is death". Christ never sinned, and therefore did not earn the wages of sin. Therefore God raised him from the dead "having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it." (Acts 2:24). The full story of Christ's death and resurrection can be found in Matthew 27 & 28, Mark 15 & 16, Luke 23 & 24, and John 18 - 21.
A crown of thorns. Arms spread. Hands pierced. Jesus spent the last six hours of his time on earth demonstrating his perfect love to the world. He died a public death in front of his accusers, his followers, his executioners, even his family. This was not a death that men would consider noble or honorable, for this is how murderers and thieves suffered for their transgressions (Athanasius, On the Incarnation, 4.17). However, Jesus hung from a cross as one who never sinned in order that those who have sinned may be free from the judgment of death. Jesus’ story did not end here, however, and it certainly did not begin here, either. He entered this world as a child of a virgin mother. He grew up as a normal child with a mother and father, with
John 20, is one of the most understood passages, but the most important to us today. In John 20, it speaks to the world about one of the most exciting, loving, signs from God that was displayed in the bible. The resurrection give all of us the hope and faith we need to have that eternal relationship with the father. The narrative of the resurrection started early with the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus. The resurrection gives us instruction just like Jesus gave instruction to Mary after his resurrection. The gospel of John narrative story is like the conclusion to chapter 20, even though John continued at a later time and wrote chapter 21 on Thomas on a fishing trip. John through his writing has given the reader’s a clear understanding of
Jesus Christ was the light that came to earth to brighten the lives of the people. He taught phenomenal and meaningful lessons that changed many hearts and caused people to accept Jesus as their Lord. Jesus Christ is the life of Christianity; the Word of God in flesh. His life, his ministry, and his crucifixion where prophesied long before he was born and Christians believe that they were all fulfilled. He had so much love for human kind that he came to earth to die for the sins of the people, so that their souls would be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who taught memorable life lessons and performed astonishing miracles during his ministry.
• Jesus is the son of God, he is God in the flesh, he came into this world for two purposes, to teach us how to live on earth and because God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, Jesus. Jesus died on cross for our sins, and is sitting at God’s right hand today.
Jesus served as example for all of humanity. His life work was to solve the fundamental problem of humanities sin and to provide eternal life with the Father. Jesus Christ demonstrated the way humans should live. He modeled behavior to the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, women, tax collector, to His friends. He came to set the example of the way to live for Christians. Basically, Jesus life was an outline of how to live your own life. Jesus confirmed that you should love your neighbor as yourself. That you should love your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength. This was demonstrated on a daily bases. Jesus verified that although humans are prone to sin, one can make a choice to not sin. When tempted by Satan, Jesus refrained from sin and turned to God the Father for strength to turn away from the temptation. Jesus was the teacher of complete, true knowledge.
