iPhone 5s An iPhone is a multimedia device that runs Apple’s iOS and has access to cellular networks across the world. The iPhone 5s 16GB retails for $649 US dollars. This product is designed by Apple in California, United States. Apple was created by the late Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. The iPhone 5s was created to compete against other top smartphones such as the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy® S4/S5. This phone was announced at the Apple event on September 10, 2013 , and released on September 20, 2013 in 35 countries . The iPhone has a multi-touch screen that also doubles as a virtual keyboard. The design of the iPhone 5s is influenced on certain factors. Apple wanted to keep a slim profile while providing the user all the features of the previous phone with of course improved performance and also a new idea. In the iPhone 5s, Apple included a fingerprint sensor or “Touch ID” as the refer it. This magnificent piece of technology also acts as a home button for the iPhone. It’s all “made from laser-cut sapphire crystal, the surface of the button directs the image of your finger to a capacitive touch sensor, which reads beneath the outer layers of your skin to get a detailed print. Surrounding the button is a stainless steel ring that detects your finger, wakes the sensor and improves the signal-to-noise ratio. Software then reads the ridges of your print and finds the match to unlock your phone. It’s all highly advanced technology that simply disappears as you use it. So you don’t notice anything. Except how unlocking your iPhone is suddenly so effortless. ” The phone also uses a dual core 1.3 GHz, 64 bit processor which offers 2x faster performance than its previous iPhone 5. The new iPhone uses a Co-Processor the M7 wh... ... middle of paper ... ...increase the pay of their workers so it isn’t as bad as before. Also there are not as many environmental concerns because Apple guarantees to recycle their products after the reach the end of their life. All you have to do is go to an Apple Store and give your device in which will be recycled for you. I would consider this product in the future because of the future proofing it offers. It has a 64 Bit processor, so in the future I can run apps with 64 bit support. Most android phones don’t have a 64 bit chip therefore it won’t last long in the future since 64 bit apps will be released and the older phones that do not have 64 bit cannot run those apps. However, even though I would consider this phone, when a newer iPhone comes out, I would probably consider that because with new phones comes new technology which will be usually faster, and better than the original.
Many people get excited when a new iPhone is about to be released. In addition, there are many customers who camp outside either the Apple store or their phone company store for days, just to get a hold of one. One thing many don’t realize is that its literally the same phone as previous ones. Thousands of people seriously think they’re paying for a new phone with better adjustments than the previous iPhone, instead of paying for a newly developed phone with a stronger iOS system and better features, not just little simple improvements. They end up paying for a phone that’s similar to the previous one.
On a year to year basis the industry has grown 72.95 percent and on an quarter to quarter has grown 26.94 percent. This growth allows Apple to innovate and continue to lead the way in the industry (Total markets). As the industry grows Apple Inc grows with it as well. In 2014 Apple announced some very disappointing figures for its iPhone sales that had everyone thinking that it 's glory days when Steve Jobs ran the company is behind them. Then they reported the largest quarterly profit ever for a publicly traded company ever. This changed the mindset of everyone. Mr. Cook of Apple Inc stated “We certainly believe there are legs to it” when he commented about the iPhone sales growth. Some figures that he stated include that fewer than 15 percent of older iPhone owners upgraded to the iPhone 6 or 6 plus. Along with the majority of the people who did switch were from the Android operating system.
Samsung is Apple’s biggest competition when it comes to phones especially between Apple’s iPhone 5s to Samsung’s Galaxy S4. They are both very popular among consumers, but they are differently different from each other. It is an endless debate on which one is better, but it really comes down to which one is better for you as a consumer. There are good and bad issues with both phones such as with the Galaxy S4, the TouchWiz Ul remains a clumsy construction and lacks overarching design language, but the good thing about t...
Some experts in smartphones said iPhone are being less and less creative on designing the new phones, and no special features either. It have blamed on Steve Jobs passed away. If Apple need to keep its market leadership, it must have some change on both the hardware and software. First, there should be some breakthrough on their devices, the outlook of iPhone should imitate the market flow. For example, the screen of the iPhone should be bigger (even now iPhone 6/6s have bigger screen) and be ‘headphone-friendly’, other brand’s headphone can never be used on the iPhone, this is feature should be improve to let the customers feel new iPhone are much user-friendly than before to increase the sales and to keep its market share in a high
This iPhone was thinner and lighter than ever before and was revealed on September 12th, 2012 (Savov, 2012). Everyone was a little weary because this was also the first iPhone to be completely supervised by Tim Cook. But Apple did not disappoint. With a bigger screen, LTE technology, iOS 6 software, and a new 8MP camera, there were over 2 million preorders within the first 24 hours (Savov, 2012). This was the first time in phone history where the demand exceed the supply that was available. There was only one big problem that a lot of people did not like right away. This was that Apple changed the charging port from a 30 pin connecter to the new lightening cable (Savov, 2012). It was the first change of the uniformity of the iPhone. This generation was also the most expensive and Apple was worried that the price could potentially deter people from buying their products in the future. This is where they got the idea for the iPhone 5C and 5S, the next upgrade. These phones were released on September 20th, 2013, and had a wide target due to the low cost of the 5C and the lavish upgrades of the 5S (Brewer, 2013). The iPhone 5C did lack some of the things that made the 5 special like not having Touch ID, using the A6 chip instead of the A7, and not having the slow motion recording option that the 5S does but both came with iOS 7 and most of its internal hardware was the same (Brewer, 2013). Both models sold over 9 million phones within the first three days of being released (iPhone 5C, 2013). Although a cheaper option, the 5C was not as a big success as the 5S, as Apple had overstocked the 5c and had a hard time selling them all. This is when Apple had to take a completely different approach with the future generations of the
The principal conclusions of this report show that the iPhone is a successful product that combines interesting features: iPod, internet browser and mobile phone, which satisfy the customer’s needs moreover it is also exceeding their expectations thanks to its fashionable design. However the UK current mobile market is very competitive, so Apple will have to deal with tough competition against established mobile phone manufacturers. The report finally comes up with some recommendations that can help improving Apple’s performance and the marketing environment for the iPhone, these are mainly:
Technology has become a huge part of everyday life, and people seem to have one great debate and are fighting over which is the best phone, iPhone or Android. The Apple iPhone is a cellular smartphone that was created and is maintained by Apple Inc. Android is another type of smartphone that is accessible to consumers, but the operating system is powered by Google and many different companies produce Android devices. The different operating systems and interfaces have created a long and carried out debate to which was superior. iPhone is the better phone and there are many reasons as to why it is superior to its rival, Android. The iPhone’s sleek and beautiful design has users’ hands fondling the device and never putting it down. The operating system is very distinct, but is straightforward with its functionality. People who purchase the iPhone believe that they have received their money’s worth and more when owning and iPhone. The iPhone is better than Android when compared because of the beautiful design and attractive display, the operating system and its functionality, and the device’s personal worth is definitely worth the money spent to own one.
As the consumption of iPhones grows, so does the impact it inflicts. To begin to understand how this device has impacted our society, one must analyze the aesthetics. According to Goggin (2009), two principles that separate the iPhone from mobile phones are “design and customization” (p. 232). The design of an iPhone is very clean and simple, which is beneficial for any type of user to operate, especially those who struggle with new technology. Better yet, the technology is always improving. The iPhone’s operating system, known as iOS, is constantly refining and polishing its design and features. Due to this, iPhones are becoming more resourceful, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. On the customization side, being able to control more of what your mobile device does is a very convincing feature that makes the iPhone stand out. The iPhone gives users an abundance of options to cater their device to their perso...
Finally, Apple in the media portrays a specific lifestyle that mirrors their own company beliefs. Their recent success with their new line of products will definitely be a nice segue into the future. With newer, more stylish commercials, and newer products geared toward personal needs, Apple will remain successful. Furthermore, Apple does not try to force this sort-of fake synthetic belief system—they actually live it.
Taking a step back into Apple's product history, and noticing how ancient the first products seem, compared to the sleek, "cool" products of today, will leave you feeling inspired. Apple has gained technological superiority over its competitors, but how and does Apple plan to continue its advantageous market share in such a rapid, fast-paced technological era? Apple has a cult like following, consumers who are anticipating and ready to purchase new Apple products as soon as they are released. Technology has become second nature and a very important aspect of millions of consumers' lives.
With all the hype surrounding the iPod post its introduction into the electronics market, it should be of no surprise that iPod’s unmatched demand for such distinct music management tool would lead Apple to add iPod’s features to the most sold electronic device to date: the cell phone. Thus, you get a hybrid called the iPhone. This highly anticipated electronic trend setter without fault had numbers of people waiting in line at the Apple store in New York; iPod fans want to be among the first to explore some of the most innovative phone features to date. Among those features you will find a 3.5 inch touch screen (the largest of all smart phones), Wi-Fi connectivity, the most usage time of all smart phones, i.e. talk time, internet use, or video playback, and many more impressive characteristics. The iPhone has, thereby, revolutionized the cell phone industry to become a potential best designed and most admired phone of the decade.
An advantage of planned obsolescence within apple iPhone to the consumer is that they will be able to continue updating their phone and will be able to download all the apps they want. It also means that they will have a new and working phone and if the battery was dying off in their old phone they wouldn’t have to worry about it, but these advantages don’t really outweigh the disadvantages. Some disadvantages for the consumer is that they would be paying for an overpriced product every year, apple will convince some people to keep up to date with the newest iPhone just because they feel it would boost how they feel about themselves having the newest phone this called brand loyalty, when someone commits and wants to keep buying the same king of phone over and over. When one person has the newest iPhone someone who maybe has an iPhone one generation behind and could be peer pressured into purchasing the new one when their current one is in perfect working
The IPhone 5S while is not a new IPhone product it is still a fairly good product for its age but no product is perfect this phone has its cons, but the pros out weight them. New doesn’t always mean always mean that it will be better just comparing it to the IPhone 6, this phone is practically the same phone but a little bigger. The IPhone 5 was Apple’s first phones with touch ID where are as even some new phones struggle with touch ID. The IPhone 5S has plenty of great features like its great camera, battery saving capabilities, touch ID, and the fact that it is a light comfortable phone. In my eyes, this apple product was a great advancement to the later apple phone. Reviewing the phone has shown that it has indeed aged well for a phone that’s a couple years old.
The year is 2014, the markets are changing constantly, and they always have to meet the needs of new consumers as well as old consumers. Mobile telephones have been in the retail and wholesale business for quite some time, and are only evolving from here on out. There are things that these cell phones can bring us that are major benefits in our everyday lives. Cell phones bring us maps, radios, address books, and even flashlights now. Cell phones have taken shape from a huge portable device to a more convenient thin device that can fit in your pocket. With time in any consumer market, the consumer adapts to the technology that makes their life easier. The constant innovation of cell phones has led us to smart phones, and these smart phones are capable of putting certain businesses out of the market. Businesses that engineered PDAs in the past were met with challenges because smart phones are able to match their productivity. Land lines have become useless since everyone can afford a mobile device now. Listening to music has also switched from a traditional CD Player/MP3 Player to an everyday smart phone.
The very first iPhone was announced by the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, in 2007. His vision was to reinvent the phone. iPhones have revolutionized smartphones and have shaped the cell phone industry into what it is today. On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs put together an incredible keynote presentation. He stated that he would be “introducing a wide-screen ipod with touch controls, a revolutionary mobile phone, and a breakthrough Internet device” (Ritchie, 2015). The audience assumed that this meant that Mr. Jobs would be launching three separate devices. However, it was only one device, the iPhone. Within the past 7 years, Apple has been able to tweak its iPhones by incorporating major redesigns. These redesigns use combinations
