Social media has been very popular due to different social networking sites, blog sites and video sites including podcasts. Social media sites run by a particular group or person cannot avoid to be biased though and we all know this. There are some who pays a particular domain or site to say or do their bidding and that is normal part of the social media. With the use of social media, we can gather a lot of information as well considering that this information comes from different group of people based on their backgrounds and point of view as well as their cultural differences. Today social media with all the many social networks is very popular. With blog sites, videos and networking sites you can see that social networking is the biggest thing out. Social media Hal Sparks is an example of a popular podcasts that is known for its different topics and the way it deals with its topics. His favorite topic is hypocrisy in the government and how the government tries to use its power over social media and controls it. Hal always speak about privacy in the internet and how internet can affect someone’s life and why the government is taking care of it or doing something to protect the privacy of the internet users. One reason why Hal says it is being controlled by the government is because the way politicians try to do their bidding with different corporations supporting them. Corporations are the one who posts or do social media advertising for these politicians then. Through social media, some politicians can also now tell their stories on how they do their job like solving a crime through public broadcasts which influenced the public heavily. NPR also covers a lot of news and stories since it got contributors around the world hence there are news about different places and countries around the world. Internet sources are becoming great source for research and educational purposes. Among the main reasons for this are the easy access it provides, the different views that you can get about a certain topic and the different concepts about it all in one paper. This is important especially for me since I am gathering information in order to write my paper. There are different links and videos as well that I can use making my research the easier. This is more than I can get if I will be using the old timer encyclopedia. Also, with the internet, there are always new sources available that I can use and I can check my sources from the old one to the new one.
Social Media is one of the biggest ways that all people can interact with one another globally. It is a fun place to connect with close or distant friends and family members.
Ninety percent of American young adults (ages 18 to 29) use social media (Pew Research Center, 2015). According to Pew Research Center (2015), women are more likely to use social media than men. It is important, then, to consider the impact of young females’ presence on social media networks such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and how these platforms influence decision making processes.
Over the past few years, social media has grown rapidly and gained the attention of individuals across the world. What exactly is social media? Basically, social media is a form of electronic communication that allows individuals to communicate with each other, create social profiles, and even share their perception on music and photos. Surprisingly, social media has caused some countries to produce boycotts and other types of rebellions. More than fifty percent of people learn about breaking news through social media. Recent statistics show ninety percent of adults in the United States own a cell phone (King 2015). Eighty-seven percent of those adults use the web, and sixty-eight percent of those adults connect to the web with their
When you think about social media what do you think of. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Vine. Well social media is more than that. Social media is not just Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Social media is any online website that lets you interact with other people, share photo and information and keeps you updated. Or do you think about how it’s made a positive or negative impact on today’s society. In my personal opinion I think social media has made both positive and negatives impacts on today’s society .Some of the negative impacts are cyberbullying and addiction, and the positive impacts are spreading the word and increasing business sales.
Social media is something that has been around ever since the 1970s. It all started when the telegraph was invented. The telegraph allowed people to send messages anywhere across the country faster than it could be delivered by hand. Giving people the opportunity to deliver news, messages, and stay connected. Throughout the year’s social media has evolved significantly, and now it’s something that it’s used every day by 78% of people that live in the United States (1). I am a user of social media, and throughout the years I have experienced many bad times while using it. Everything from bullying, frauds, and harassment. This are some of the reasons why I strongly agree that social media is harmful and should be restricted to those who aren’t ready to use it.
Social media is a revolution, which we are currently experiencing. It has changed the way people communicate and interact with one another, and opens up many more avenues to share news, information, and just general chit chat. Social media is relatively quiet young, but is here to stay for the foreseeable future. We are now at a point where online, we can share, read and react to lots of individual information being posted on microblogging websites, such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr and more. Twitter in particular has been widely embraced, and will centre most of the discussion.
On social media, each individual has the power to be influential and important. There is a freedom of expression on social media that we are allowed to express. A user on Facebook can post anything they want or anything they want for free.... ... middle of paper ... ...
There is no secret that a modern day teenager’s life is built around the usage of technology. As a result of society’s heavy reliance on technology, social media has become popular amongst people who are “technologically advanced.” Though there is a wide variety of social sites that can be accessed through modern day technology, a few have become very popular. Social sites which have become widely popular among teens include Instagram, Tumblr, and Snapchat. These social networking sites provide instant social connection and emotional support while letting teens post and send pictures of their everyday life. Many teens look towards social media for emotional support and social acceptance. The continual usage of these sites are negatively impacting the self- esteem of teenagers worldwide since they heavily rely on social medias to portray images of what they believe is acceptable for the society we live in.
Social media is a virtual platform which allows users to create and share information and ideas. With the advancement in technology, social media is becoming more popular and commonly used worldwide. It serves several purposes such as allowing news feeds and information to be spread rapidly throughout the world and establishes a network platform for users who share the same interests and hobbies to meet, chat and share ideas, hence allowing them to establish relationships.
Social media is becoming a larger part of society everyday. Globally, ninety-one percent of internet users have at least one social media account and the average teenager will spend nine hours a day on social media. Social media seems to be taking over society at a rampant pace. Has society become too reliant on social media? Have we lost the ability to communicate in person? While social media has introduced many pathways of communication, it has also been detrimental to self esteem, face to face interactions, and effective communication. Possibly, people are losing the ability to function without the use of social media.
Finally, social networks have become most popular websites, especially Facebook. Although there is many of people against it, while others support using Facebook, but no one can deny the benefits of Facebook in different aspects like socialization, marketing and advertising, and it's allow people with poor social skills to express themselves without being shy of social interaction, so Facebook in these days is one of the best ways of communication.
Social media, a quickly growing and popular knowledge outlet, can become dangerously addictive if the user lacks self-control. There are so many wonderful outcomes from the invention of social media. The biggest being how quickly news can spread. Anyone can share the news that they desire with a few taps on a screen. The fault in this action though, is that false testimonies can be spread just as quickly as true ones. The question is, does the positive outweigh the negative enough for a person to proceed with using social media? Without this innovative creation, though, communication would be dull and boring, so by all means, social media should be used.
With the way the world is now it should not be a surprise to anyone that social media has literally taken over the world in this day and age. From late 2008 to early 2009 the size of Facebook users doubled from 100 million to 200 million in eight months, and was already up to 400 million by early 2010. Twitter also raised its number of users in 2009 from 4.5 million to 20 million (Zandt). These numbers just show what Facebook and Twitter have accomplished. Other social media sites that are getting more and more popular are Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, Pinterest, and many others social media websites that people use on a daily basis. With one in four people using social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, it is no wonder that all of these social media websites are considered to be important (Whiteman). With a few clicks of a button or taps on a screen, a person can be connected to family and friends in every corner of the world. Social media can even allow people to see what their favorite celebrities are doing with their lives. According to Honor Whiteman,”Social media defines an array of internet sites that enable people from all over the world to interact. This can be through discussion, photos, video and audio (Whiteman).” Social media is a beast in its own right that is used by a multitude of people all over the world everyday for things such as updating their Twitter status for personal use to updating a company 's Facebook page on a weekly basis.
