Recommended: The importance of art
"Art is the most intense form of individualism that the world has known." This quote was said by Oscar Wilde. Art is all around us. Whether it was created by man, like the Space Needle in Seattle, or just the natural beauty of the earth, like the sunsets off the coast of California each night, everything is art. America is art because it demonstrates the creativity, imagination, and uniqueness of Americans. Being creative allows people to express themselves by doing things they love. People can express themselves through art in many different ways. New forms of art are created daily, such as music. Famous musicians such as Lady GaGa and Beyonce have blessed America, and the rest of the world, with their music and will continue to do so for many years to come. It doesn't take long for songs that are popular here in America to become popular in other countries. This can happen overnight because of how …show more content…
It is the preview of life's coming attractions." Albert Einstein said it well. Imagination is a look into the future of what is about to come in life. Everyone has heard the saying by Walt Disney "If you can dream it, you can do it" and this is true. With a little effort and the use of imagination, humans are capable of creating anything. In order for new music to be created or new buildings to be designed, people have to use their brain. People must think outside the box for unique art to be created. Luckily, many Americans have been blessed with a vivid imagination that is able to imagine the impossible and keep American art interesting. Things such as the telephone and the computer hadn't even been thought of hundreds of years ago until one day, two brilliant people stretched their imagination far beyond what was thought to be possible. This is the same for art too. More than likely, new genres of music or new styles of painting have yet to be created. But one day, it will happen, because someone will use their imagination to create
It is art fulfilling its role in society. It is art that brings the moral issues. It is art that makes us human.
If I were to ask you what is art, and how can one find it? What would you say? Well if it were me being asked those question, I would simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design and it could be found all among us. You may define it differently only because art could be defined in many ways. I could simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design. Well according to an article written by Shelley Esaak, an art history expert she mentioned that art has a way of stimulating different parts of our brains to make us laugh or incite us to riot, with a whole gamut of emotions in between. She also mentioned that art gives us a way to be creative and express ourselves. [1]
Folklores are stories that have been through many time periods. Folklore include Legends, Myths, and Fairy Tales. The first settlers in the New World faced unpredictable hardships. The men of the Virginia colony had enough trouble learning to live off the land, let alone having to defend themselves from native attacks. Famine proved to be a hard obstacle to conquer for all of the new colonies. New England, while having a more suitable climate for the prevention of diseases, also had its conflicts with local tribes. The Puritan ideals of New England were very strict especially in regard to private indulgences, including art. The only type of art that was "acceptable", were portraits, almost exclusively of upper class citizens and clergy. Through the years leading up to the revolution, however, as the population became diversified, new ideas started to influence popular thought. There were many different cultures coexisting as well as different social classes. However, as was the standard in Europe, only the upper class people were part of the "art world".
Imagination is the action of creating new ideas, scenarios, or concepts that are not present. It is the ability to form a mental image of anything that is not perceived through senses. It’s the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, objects or events that do not exist or are not there or have never happened. “...the pleasures of the imagination exist because they hijack mental system that have evolved for real world pleasure. We enjoy imaginative experiences because at some level we don’t distinguish them from real ones.” (pg.577 parg 4, Bloom)
Art is something that appears separately to everyone; there are no clearly defined right or wrong answer with it. American Icons is a beautiful oil painting that is a high work of art, has a lot of symbolism, and has many techniques to enhance the piece. Art can be analyzed much more than most people come to understand, but looking to, and actually, understanding it is one of the most satisfying feelings
Western culture had many important effects on the United States as a developing nation, and art education was no exception to this. In order to come to terms with the impact of Western culture on American art education, it is important to chronicle the progression of art education throughout Europe. Spanning centuries, the political, social, and economic development of European nations, each played an important role the philosophies of art education, which in the long run, affected American ideas concerning the subject.
A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and souls of its people. Many countries have been influenced by various things such as immigration, media, news, as well as trends and fads from both in and out of the country. However, in the 1950s and 1960s, there was mainly news and word of mouth. Many had argued that Canada should establish its own culture to have an identity separate, later growing into a concern of the government. Most would think that the cultural influence was negative as the influences of other countries would take away from the country’s own culture and identity, but it was not the case. The influence of American culture in the 1950s and 1960s in Canada was positive. American music, Hippie culture, and the impact the American
What is art? Art is the self-expression of someone of something that shows the hidden or underlying emotions that are found within the unconscious mind. Art has been around for centuries (“Merriam-Webster”). Normally, art would tell stories of past events which were significant to that culture. This could include things such as hunts and sacrifices to please the gods. As people and humanity started to evolve and become more civilized, art started to transform and take on a new appearance as well. From being a story prop to something that is more abstract; art started to become more and more important in the lives of people. During the renaissance in Europe, many new artists and ways of thinking emerged and became the main-stream way of thinking. Many of those artist are household names such as Vincent Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci . They transformed art from what it was to how we see it today (Belliveau). Jumping forward from the renaissance to the 1960’s, you have artists emerge such as Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollok. They pushed the boundaries of art and how it was perceived in society (American Art Therapy Association).
History plays a very important role in the development of art and architecture. Over time people, events, and religion, have contributed to the evolution of art. Christianity has become a very common and well established religion, however, in the past it was hidden and a few people would worship this religion secretly. Gradually, Christianity became a growing religion and it attracted many converts from different social statuses. Christian art was highly influenced by the Greco-Romans, but it was immensely impacted by the establishment of the Edict of Milan in the year 313 AD. The Edict of Milan was so significant that scholars divide Christian art into two time periods, time before and after the Edict of Milan of 313.
What exactly is creativity? To be creative is to understand and connect the small details of our experiences, both good and bad (creative something). Creativity involves a person using his or her original ideas to create something. Artists such as poets, writers, painters, designers, and more use creativity on a regular basis. They use creativity to come up with new ideas and create original works of art. A poet would use his or her creative abilities to write and produce a poem just like a painter would use creativity to paint a painting.
