The Importance of Olivia in Twelfth Night
Olivia, in Twelfth Night, is the character who unifies the play by
her involvement in each of the three plots. Olivia is loved by Orsino, but
she loves Cesario. Olivia plays a vital role in the plot to gull Malvolio,
although she is unaware of it. Olivia also has an active role in the plot
to dupe Sir Andrew because he is jealous of her attention towards Cesario.
In conlusion Olivia is the one who inifies the play the best.
Olivia is involved the the love plot more then any other plot in
which she is involved in. Olivia is loved by others, and she is also in
love with others. The Duke Orsino is in love with Olivia. Although he has
not really seen or actually talked to her about this subject. Sir Andrew
is also in love with Olivia, he has been with Olivia for quite some time
before and during the play. Malvolio is thought to be in love for a small
period of time.&nbs...
The key task of this stage is to answer “who am I?” Olivia’s father was a very powerful man and sent her to the best boarding schools and law schools of his choice to mold her into the woman that he wanted her to be. Self-discovery has to occur without pressure, and Eli Pope lay’s the pressure on Olivia quite thick. Olivia is who she is, because that is whom her father created. Identity confusion can lead to an inability to settle on a work identity, and all throughout the seasons on Scandal, we observe Olivia bouncing back and forth between positions. Although she owns her own firm, she often leaves her team and works for the White House, until she decides it’s unsuitable there and returns ‘home’. Erikson would refer to Olivia’s situation as identity foreclosure because she has made a commitment without exploring other
Your lady’s love against some other maid/ That I will show you shining at this feast, /And she shall scant show well that now seems best” (I.ii.103-106). Benvolio's definition of love shows the audience two things about Benvolio: he is a womanizer and he has never before experienced true love.

Time value of money (TVM) is a monetary concept that is very important to all parts of the financial world. This concept basically says that $100 today is worth more than $100 a year from now (or anytime in the future). Also, an individual should earn some value of compensation for not spending their money. This compensation is essentially called the interest that will be earned on the initial cash. What about when an individual opts to receive money in the future rather than today? That can lead to problems. This is because they are taking a gamble by loaning money- since there is almost always risk in loaning money. A couple of these risks include inflation and default risk. Default risk means that the person who borrowed the money does not repay the money to the person that loaned it. Inflation means that the general prices of products will rise. How does all this work? In theory the person that gets the $100 today could invest it, even at a very low annual percentage rate (APR), and still come out ahead. If they invest it at 2% APR, they would have $102 at the end of one year. Th...
In the early scenes of the play, before Malvolio believes that Olivia is in love with him, he appears to be a prudish person and uses his actions to subvert the enjoyment of others . While Toby a...
Variable costs: “Variable costs are costs that vary with the volume of activity”2 and they are: direct labor, Materials, Material spoilage & direct department expenses.
Although Viola might be able to relate to Olivia's grief at first, her love for Orsino is so great that she cannot understand why Olivia would deny him. When Olivia expresses affectio...
Malvolio’s dislikeable rigidity nature is shown immediately in his first entrance in the play, in his rude humiliation of Feste, “I marvel your ladyship takes delight in such a barren rascal … unless you laugh and minister occasion to him, he is gagged” (McEachern, 2007). The disapproval towards his rigid humorless attitude immediately follows with Olivia reprimanding her steward’s habit for making a big deal out of everything, “O you are sick of self-love, Malvolio, and taste with a distempered appetite” (McEachern, 2007). Malvolio further manifests his rigid and fun despising personality as he, depicted as a killjoy, spoils the revelry of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Feste late in the night “My masters, are you mad? Or what are you? Have you no wit, manner, nor honestly, but to gabble like tinkers at this time of night” (McEachern, 2007). It is exactly this fun despising side, depicted as Malvolio’s “stubborn and uncourteous parts” that earns him the enmity of the revelers. As he thinks, with excellences, that it is his grounds of faith that look on him love him.” Because of Malvolio’s dispositio...
This leads Maria to formulate a plan using his pride as his downfall. Though Malvolio is a servant he is positive that he is meant for greatness. When Maria forges a love letter in Olivia’s hand Malvolio is only too happy to reactive it. He follows its directions and makes a fool of himself while trying to reach his ambitions for an improvement in social status. When Olivia rejects him he understands that he is not what he thinks he is. He is a servant and that is where he belongs. He finds his identity and though he is possibly unsatisfied he is accepting, and though he is upset with the people who prank him he has found himself and is now in his mind even higher above them. He even goes so far as to say he will make his revenge. It is also shown when they are trying to show him as insane. He clings to who he is and his mental powers. He is in control of himself now that he understands who, and what, he is.
to get involved in a scuffle, for which Viola is unjustly blamed. Finally Sebastian and Viola are reunited, but only after they have already caused a large amount of chaos and confused everyone. It is only then that everyone begins to discover the extent of Viola's trickery. More disorder is created when Olivia, who Orsino is hopelessly in love with. with, falls for Cesario, who is secretly in love with Orsino.
The play twelfth night, though largely a comedy, has it's fair share of challenges and obstacles which it's characters face throughout the plot. These revolve around love, honour and the death and loss of loved ones. However one character stands out to me as having faced the most difficult and trying of challenges, yet emerged with her pride and dignity intact. She coped well with all the problems that were thrown at her with a quiet resilience far beyond her years, and is worthy of our admiration.
...nt costs are allocated using different factors. This is because to determine the magnitude and the scope of a certain cost, there must be some factors to be considered. Hence different categories of costs are treated differently and are allocated cost differently. Hence it is clear that cost allocation is a noble requirement for every project.
Twelfth Night consists of a large number of love triangles, however many characters are too indulged in love that they are blind to the untrue, and the weakness of their relationship, they are deceived by themselves and many people around them ( ex. Malvolio is tricked by Sir Andrew, Feste ,Sir Toby and Maria),but there are certain incidents where the love is true and two characters feel very strongly about one another. In the play, Viola and Orsino have the most significant relationship. The way they interact with each other causes the complexity on which the play is all about, their relationship turns from strangers to friends then lovers .In the First Act Viola is not honest with Orsino because she disguises herself as a male servant named Cesario in order to get closer to the duke. Orsino. Orsino quickly trusts Cesario and sends him to Olivia to declare Orsinos Love for her, the girl he most dearly loves. This quick bond is the fast example of their relationship. At the beginning of the play, Viola thinks her brother (Sebastian) is dead (after they’re deadly boat crash, where they get separated) when actually he is alive and thinks she is dead, Viola always seems to have a part missing from her which shows her bond with Sebastian is strong, and a part of her but in a brotherly/sisterly way rather than a proper relationship like viola and orsino, At the end of the play they meet and both fall in love , Viola with Orsino and Sebastian with Olivia.

One might know that time is one of the most valuable assets in our lives. In the financial world the value of money is linked to time, primarily because investors expect progressive returns on their cash over periods of time, and they always compare the return from certain investments with the going or average returns in the market. Inflation on other hand erodes the purchasing power of money causing future value of one dollar to be less than the present value of a dollar. This paper will examine time value of money and the applications that determine successes or failures. An examination of the different vehicles that can be used to generate financial security for corporations and individuals will be provided. After defining the applications that generalize time value of money, an explanation will be offered regarding the components of interest rates by expanding on the concept that interest rate equates the future value of money with present value.
