It was hard trying to figure out who I wanted to do my web quest on. At first I really did not know what a wequest is. I felt really out of the loop on what technology is available to me. I had to do some research on what a web quest is. I was looking all over the internet to find a website to show me some examples of web quests. Then I had a wow moment. I was saying to myself look in the resource area of the class. When I did it took me straight to where I needed to go. Web quests are an idea that includes the work from an internet source (Dodge, 2007). A lot of teachers use web quests to create lesson plans for their students. There is so much information on the web. Making resources match what information is needed is the most time consuming part of a web quest (Dodge, PhD, B. 2007). I had trouble trying to figure out where to start. Eventually I just walked away and came back later at one in the morning. I had to trouble because the topic I was looking for did not have much information on it (Fleming, 2014). I remembered in order to do the resources I needed to know what I wanted my students to learn. What activities did I want them to research and what do I consider to be fun. The process was a little easier because it is just what is needed to get to the finished product. When I started doing this I saw I needed to add more things to the task section. The evaluation section gave me a healthy respect for what teachers have to go through. It is hard to create a rubric on how to grade projects. The conclusion is just a wrap up of what has happened. I was so happy when I got to this section. I took a moment and re looked over my web quest to see if I could do the activities with the information provided. I wanted to know where the term for kindergarten came from. This is exciting to me to read about the ideas of Froebel. He faced many challenges in his life which is very inspirational to me. Froebel is interesting because he was a part of a big family. A big family to me is more than three children. He was the fifth child in the family (Forbes, 2012). He had a very hard life. His parents died when he was very young. I do not know whether I would have handled my life the way he did. Being the fifth child comes with a lot of challenges. I do not believe he received as much attention as he should have. He moved with an uncle when he was old enough to attend school. Wow, already he is facing a challenge in the beginning of his school years. Froebel had a gift when he first began school. He was able to gravitate toward languages and mathematics. I am sure this is something I would not have chosen. I knew from the beginning of my school years I wanted to do something with children. It was a struggle to choose whether I wanted to become a teacher or work with the younger children. I finally was able to choose after opening my own home
Throughout the course of semester, I have developed many essential skills as a media text creator. We’ve been asked to do at least one of the media text once throughout this semester allowing us to fix our past mistakes and improve upon that. Challenges I will face throughout this assignment is I longer have the book in hand with me, so I may have to go back through previous assignments/blog post to find specific quotes that I’ve. I may have to retrieve the book back and refresh my memory of the book as it’s been a couple months since I had last finished the book. The start of creating my web page may be a bit difficult to get started with because we’ve dealt with majority of blogs this semester, so I may have trouble getting started with how I want to explain/showcase the purpose for an example to the audience.

Most everyone who knew Foy would say that Foy was: kind hearted, giving, serving, a parent of two boys, active in the local Methodist church, a devoted spouse, and above all a female. I would conquer as her granddaughter but there are those who would argue that fact. How could several people firmly believe that Foy was a male? That in there lies the mystery.
From this assignment, I learned a lot not only about my subject, but also about the Internet. I think it's a great idea that people who are going to be teachers know about the great resources that are out there on the Internet. It is a very valuable tool for students, teachers, and the general public, and everyone should know what is out there from them to use. I feel that in my future career, the Internet will be a tool that I take full advantage of , and that I will share this information with my students so they to can use this great resource.
Early childhood education, although constantly evolving, was actually established and practiced as early on as the times of Ancient Greece and Rome. The foundation that early childhood education is based upon is to instill in children the skills needed to succeed later on in life, while making sure young children enjoy their time in schooling. Throughout chapter 3 in the textbook Who Am I in the Lives of Children, the reader is capable of evaluating just how greatly the methods for teaching today’s youth have evolved and changed for the better.
The thought of universal preschool and education has been around for quite some time. A man by the name of Robert Owen was the first to come up with the idea to support early education for young children back in the 1820s (Fuller, 2008). Owen’s push for early education was due to his worries of his factory workers’ children possibly not being stimulated with learning therefore limiting their chance of a head start in life. Fuller (2008) disclosed that it was then that Owen proposed that children learn alongside with their peers (away from family) by enrolling a school setting for young children. Upon establishing schools in Britain, Owen came over to the states into southern Indiana, when he implemented the same model of learning and founded the New Harmony school in 1825 (Fuller, 2008).
Going back to our text, it is mentioned that in 1920s, the emphasis was on physical and intellectual development, and the early education programs were based on the works and studies of Froebel, Montessori, and McMillan. But as education improved in late 1940s, the attention was to focus on physical, social, and emotional growth (Eliason, et al., 2008 p.5). So the creative curriculum has been based on the theories and researches that inform decision making in the early childhood field. We can find these theories in the works of Piaget, Maslow, Erikson, Vygotsky, Smilansky, and Gardner. (Colker)
Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel was born on April 21, 1782 in Oberweissbach, Germany, a small village in the Thuringian Forest. His father was a Lutheran Protestant minister who had a large congregation and little time for five sons and his mother died when he was nine months old making his childhood rather traumatic and depressing. These distressing childhood experiences shaped him into the teacher he would one day become. His upbringing was facilitated by his older brothers and the servants that ran his father’s household but lacked a feminine presence that Froebel desperately desired. This unfulfilled need of a mothers influence and love would create the foundation on which Froebel would build his idea and create a special early childhood environment, Kindergarten.
Moreover, Froebel theory is similar to Rousseau theory that the child should learn in nature. In addition, Froebel wants to teach teachers to be sensitive to child 's willingness and needs. Also, they should do not be taskmasters and should not let the child memorize thing by heard that they do not understand. He believes that the child is a self-active learner. For example, Froebel 's kindergarten or child 's garden that was founded in the year 1837, Its environment should “have games, play, songs, stories, and crafts that help the child learn through his imagination and teach them about the culture heroes and the values.” Like when the child play with other children become in a group that in the future that may help them to be part of the society. Moreover, the kindergarten should have materials that the child could shape: clay, sand, cardboard, and sticks that will let the child use their imagination to build things like a castle. In addition, nowadays many preschools follow Frobel 's theory and let children use their imagination to learn and the teacher considers the child 's need and does not force them to learn things by hard that they may not understand, and the teacher respects the culture values that the child does the

Friedrich Froebel proclaimed a compelling educational system unprecedented for teaching children, and named the system Kindergarten, which in English means Children's Garden. Similar in aim to caring for a flower or vegetable garden, the purpose of the original German Kindergarten was to nurture the growth and development of children. Froebel’s Kindergarten, consisting of a balanced curriculum for academic and vocational studies, is made up of twenty-four different kinds of playthings, with each one mirroring essential qualities of geometric forms, organized and presented according to geometric methods and principles – that is to say, in the form of solids, planes, lines and points.
