The fact is, that Dubai strives for this wealthy look as to attract other wealthy people. After the discovery of oil in the 1960’s the country underwent a transformation into a country with a high standard of living. Dubai, along with the rest of the UAE, strives for the image of equality and freedom of religion. Dubai itself is not only made up of Arab inhabitants but also includes European, Asian and some American dwellers as well. A large population of Dubai are foreigners and are not treated the way they deserve when working under their employers. Cases of physical and mental abuse as well as not being paid their full salary are just a few problems they face daily. Dubai has been extensively criticized for the treatment of their employees many of which would be working under the tourism industry (World Report 2015).
In conclusion, Dubai seems like a fantastic destination to get away from the cold and to relax. They take very good care of their tourists and provide many destinations and attractions specifically for the purpose of tourism. They do however deemphasize certain aspects of their city when advertising to prospective customers by not mentioning certain ways that tourists must act or dress. Their advertisements are aimed towards heterosexual married couples and families and tend not to advertise to other types of relationships. Their prices are extremely high which makes it difficult for the average person to enjoy the city and they do not treat their employees in the manner in which they deserve. While the city seems to be a paradise, there are many underlying aspects that they do not inform you of before your journey, which can be very misleading.
