I’ve been to the apple store before. However, like most of their customers, I’ve came in with an agenda already in mind. I assumed that the Apple store wasn’t where most people would come to kill time or observe- instead repair a phone, or even make a long awaited purchase- however that’s exactly what I was doing. I thought it would be best to go earlier on a sunday morning, hoping there would be less people and distractions. The weather was typical for a sunday- freezing, light blue skies without a sun in sight. Prior to arriving, I decided that I was going to divide my time in half. Half of my time would be spent observing from the outside looking in, while the other half I would place myself directly inside the mayhem. I wanted to get the …show more content…
The first thing I took note of was how busy it actually was. As I was watching customers scramble around, it only provided by further statement, that people came with an agenda in mind- they know what they want, how they want it, and when they want it- and if there’s any uncertainty, the employees will certainly know for them. Over the years, apple has become famous for their product educated and retail extrradred employees. The employees know what they're selling and most importantly, how to sell them to you. I began to wonder if throughout Apples retail entirely, if they’ve always been this about theirs employees. (After the observation, I did some follow up background research on Apple stores and the history with their employees. Before apple store were created, Apple sold their products in larger retail stores. However, with Apple being the new and upcoming brand, the retail employees were unskilled with apple and allegedly overall pushed PCs onto customers, as they were more familiar with the brand(s). In 2001, Apple opened the first two apple stores, located in Fairfox, Virgina and Glendale, Calforina. Thes
My ethnographic study took place at Whole Foods Market in Kensington, London. Before entering the store, I closely examined the front display windows. The products displayed include very red fresh apples that were in a stack. The apples were placed on a tray and table to provide the product with a lift and increase product visibility for all to see.
Apple has transformed from a computer genius to a powerhouse of all technology. “Jobs’ genius was in impressing his visions upon people,” and with each new advice the amazement of Apple followers strengthened (“Apple Computers”). Apple has created an illusion of a perfect society. With greater, more advanced technology, people believe that the world can only continue getting better. Customers have bought so mentally into Apples mission that they cringe at seeing someone using another device brand. Not only does Apple create an easier way to get everyday tasks complete, they make it look good too, “Jobs played a directive role at Apple in the development of products that were both elegant and tasteful” (“Apple llc Computer”). In today’s society the people are brainwashed by advancements which portray nothing less than a picture-perfect society, a
..., there were also many aspects that all of these Wal-Mart shoppers shared. Mostly everyone dreaded the loud and obnoxious carts as they were walking into the store. And mostly everyone hated how Wal-Mart only had five of their twenty registers open. This caused the buildup of large lines for which people would wait to buy their items. The people in a hurry did not take this lightly. While the shoppers who weren’t in a hurry took this time to read the magazines and check out the candy options.
Like all companies and people, Apple is not perfect. The company has many suppliers when it comes to building their products, but with such a large corporation they also hold a responsibility to their supplier. However, one of Apples suppliers in China was charged with child labor. Apple seems to have set high standards but they mis...
Apple Inc. is a worldwide company that is one of the most valuable brands to ever be founded. As of today, the company is worth a staggering $786 billion! The reasons behind this giant company’s success is through their products that they sell. All their products are very well made and the customer loyalty is very stable. Apple was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976. They incorporated the company in 1977. For more than three decades, Apple was predominantly a company that sold personal computers including the Apple II, Macintosh, and the Power Mac. Steve Jobs was fired from the company in 1985 because of the poor sales and low market share that the company was facing. During that time, Apple started to be more of the innovators. Because Apple was starting to make enough money to start acquiring smaller companies that benefited the company, Steve Jobs’
Apple is dedicated to above average standards of social and environmental responsibility and ethical conduct. It is also necessary that Apple’s suppliers handle workers with dignity and respect, provide safe working conditions, act fairly and ethically, and use environmentally responsible practices wherever they make products or perform services for Apple. Apple requires employees to function and adhere within the principles of the Apple Code, Credo and comply with all pertinent laws and regulations. Amazon has been able to maintain sustainable competitive advantage based on three operational strategies. These are low cost-leadership, customer differentiation and focus strategies. Low cost-leadership is pursued by Amazon by differentiating itself primarily on the basis of price. By offering low prices to customers Amazon ensures its future success. Partially modifying the costs of lowering prices over time through achieving higher sales volumes, negotiating better terms with suppliers, and achieving better operating efficiencies. Amazon makes sure that it offers the same quality products as other companies at a considerably cheaper price. Another strategy that Amazon has is its fast delivery service and there are many delivery services that one can choose from. With Amazon Prime, there are certain, but many products that have free two-day shipping. Also, with Amazon Prime, there are many offers specifically for people that have Amazon Prime. For example,
Instead of Apple looking to build a product around the customer’s need, they focused on building what they wanted. When Steve Jobs debuted products like the iPad, critics insulted and believed the iPad would fail. The numbers clearly have said otherwise. Every time Apple has decided to innovate, they were laughed at but continued to prevail.

Apple is “the world’s most colorful company,” Linzmayer, Owen . Apple Confidential 2.0. 1st. San Francisco, CA: No Starch Press, 2004. When looking at its meager beginnings Apple’s influence on the media could only be described as unique. Their product, style, and overall beliefs make the Apple Corporation a multi-billion dollar company with a general appeal for all ages. It is getting harder and harder to be an individual, so with Apple you can “rise above the norm” and be unique. Recently, this unique corporation has taken the media by storm, with their new line of products. Right along side these new products are a full line of new commercials to go along with them. These new commercials spawned from years of creative marketing done on Apple’s part. Studying the history of Apple is necessary to understanding their influence upon us today.
The electronics market stays competitive due to the continuing stream of new technology. Every addition of a new product by Apple’s competition must in turn be met with a more innovative product. Apple must remain on top of the industry to remain relevant and continue to produce profits. The competitive nature of this industry also dictates that all corporations in the market will face ethical dilemmas. According to an article entitled “Apple ‘attacking problems’ at its factories in China”, there are only 3 companies with facilities in the world capable of keeping up with the needs that Apple’s market demands (Moore, 2012). Unveiling a new iPhone nearly once a year continues to put stress onto those few facilities that handle so much of the production. Speed is a factor in how quickly a product can be turned from pieces into profit. This leads to a predicament if the supply cannot meet the demand and cost begin to rise. A very common way to reduce cost is outsourcing production to locations overseas. Outsourcing can be beneficial due to the lower cost of wages, but also has its drawback. Outsourcing is by no mean a bad idea, however, the many facilities that are ran overseas may not be held to the same standards that they would be in the United States. One way to show that corners are not being cut at the expense of employees is to be transparent with the

The first two decades of its inception Apple was predominately in the business of manufacturing personal computers however as alluded to it faced rocky sales and low market shares during the 90’s. Computers and technology makes it easier for entrepreneurs to enter this market. Not only are major tech companies competing against one another, but they are also competing against little programmers that know how to code. In our time you will never know with certainty when a small group of engineers or computer scientists are going to create, “next big thing”. Apple has been able to have a competitive advantage over its competitor by creating the highest quality products and services. Some of Apple’s current competitors are Microsoft, Google, and Facebook, and a few other tech companies as well. Most people strongly people Apple is one of the stronger company its industry, but then again some other people have biased views. Financially, they are the strongest company in the world. Also people are always willing to pay a premium for their products because of their durability, quality, and prior experiences with Apple products. Apple is always on the look at for new innovative ideas and concept that are being produced by self-motivated entrepreneurs. They are always looking to hire bright minds and let them develop within the company. A lot of entrepreneurs, programmers and engineers do not have a problem working for Apple because of their well-established perks. Apple offers its employees of the best benefits in the world. They also fairly compensate their employees that work in the front-end store as
Apple will need to continue to re-engineer they’re products as a continuous process to improve its effectiveness and efficiency. Apple must forecast and continue to re-define its effectiveness and its efficiency toward its products. Apple will re-examine their products as time continues to move and make sure they follow through with the social changes that come about. This will help with this process and it will make sure that the customer’s that lie ahead will be stealing to purchase Apple products. The local Charter school decided to allow students to purchase MAC book a few years ago when just coming on the market. I had a compact computer that I’ve had for years but when comparing and seeing all the advantages that the MAC had to offer I preferred to use the Mac computer instead.
The money factor is a bad way of motivating the top employees. Employees need to work because they love the job and not because they are motivated by a financial reward. In order to motivate the top employees in the company, Apple needs to reward them without involving the money aspect this is because a top employee motivated to work because of a financial reward would achieve less than that working due to other motivational factors other than money in addition, the money aspect will only work for the short-term goals and not the long-term goals Apple could retain the top employees in the company in several ways firstly, apple company should offer services such as dare care services. Day care service may seem like a minute aspect that would not impress the top employees. However, most employees are affected by children related problems. A
