Throughout my life I have progressively become more technologically aware and sound. Technology worldwide has changed significantly as the years pass by. With innovation comes adaptation to the new technology, which in turn leads to technological literacy or the familiarity with technology. I use technology daily so technological literacy is a necessity to succeed in college, remain entertained, and to be independent. Technological literacy is a skill I have developed since I first entered school and today I wouldn't survive as a student or person without it as society has become more reliant upon technology.
As a young boy, maybe four or five my extent of technology use was very limited. At this age, all of my communication was person

I was now able to surf the internet, use Microsoft programs and type things all sufficiently. In third grade, everyone had to do a project on a band or musician in which you liked and present it to our class. I made a PowerPoint about the rock band Kiss because I grew up listening to music from my dad's time, so all the classics; The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, ACDC, Bon Jovi, etc. Like most kids at this age I was very amused by the effects and sounds you could attach to each slide. So, to show off my technological literacy at the time I made sure to have as many of these special effects that I had recently learned how to use in my presentation. I made each letter come in one at a time inserted an applause sound effect at the end of my presentation and included various transitional effects from slide to slide. Throughout much of my presentation I heard the class go "Woahhhhh" in amusement or "How did you do that?" Creativity was always part of your grade in elementary school and this boosted my creativity up so as a result of my high technological literacy in comparison to my class it earned me a good grade. My technological literacy improved for academic purposes since Kindergarten but my use of technology for entertainment changed as …show more content…
The purpose of this class these were teach students the best way to do research online, teach them basic coding/computer programming, and problem-solving techniques for technical problems in order to improve and increase the students' skills using computers and get the most out of the available technology in the school. I learned how to use the school database to find reliable sources, including some primary sources for research. The librarian of our school came into our class and gave as walkthrough of how to access the school database as well as the various topics that existed in the database. We also created a simple version of hangman after the teacher guided us through a lesson of basic coding. She then sent us on our own to make whatever game we had the skills to make. In technology I programmed a robot to fight other robots in these technology-oriented classes using Lego Mindstorms through the EV3 program. These classes prepared me for what was to come in high
In my Teaching Professions with Field Experience class, we were to create two lesson plans throughout the semester; one that involved the use of technology and the other without. The rules that went along with the lesson plans were as follows: the speaker is supposed to act out the lesson that they have prepared and their classmates were supposed to act accordingly to what grade level the lesson pertained to. Lastly, during the presentations, the students were to write three good qualities the speaker or the presentation had. In addition, they had to write one wish which was something a student thinks would make the lesson better. For the first project lesson I constructed, I incorporated the use of technology to discuss the identification and use of monochromatic colors for the sixth grade level.
... access to it from various forms of media. Instead of demolishing our ability to read and learn, the internet aids us by giving us rapid information that would otherwise take days of research through books to attain. Therefore, the internet should not be viewed as the cause for our lack of intelligence, but rather the reason for our vast knowledge. Technology has revolutionized our learning and will continue to serve as the prime tool in our education.
The most important thing when interacting with other human beings is being able to communicate one another. People’s first mechanical way of communicating was with the invention of the telegraph, which was at first run by gas. It wasn’t until 1836, when Samuel F.B Morse, Alfred Vail, and Joseph Henry invented Morse code that our civilization had would be able to electronically communicate. Soon after, the first telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell which allowed people to vocally converse electronically from miles away. The invention of the telephone was then modified and eventually converted into a mobile cellular phone by Martin Cooper in...
Technology, what is it? It’s usually something new, and better than the old idea. Technology started with cars, stoves, TV, radios, etc. Cars takes somebody from one place to another, faster than walking, running, or biking and one could go places without getting tired. Stoves allowed one to conveniently be able to turn on and off heat to a cooking utensil with less clean up. The biggest contributor to making our lives easier would be computers, which has come a long way since its introduction to the world. Also, computers have the ability to be improved more, and more in time. In general, technology started off by comforting our lives. Now, the rapid growth of technology has replaced the need for one’s own intellect.
A study done by Stanford said that when children spend more time with their technology instead of using that time for face-to-face communication, their social skills might decrease. A professor from Stanford University, Clifford Nas...
With an emphasis on STEM education, I am able to implement many forms of technology and new literacies into everyday lessons. Defining New literacies as “the skills, strategies, and insights necessary to successfully exploit the rapidly changing information and communication technologies that continually emerge in our world” (Reutzle & Cooter, 2015, p.21),lends to many of the programs I offer being highly effective in exposing students to such literacies. The use of computers is a way in which I connect students to 21st century technologies. Using software to create and play video games just seems like fun to students, when really they are learning about literacy and technology while engaging in fun
There are a few components that go along with technology. There are a lot of pros to technology, but what else is it good for? Many people think that technology is bad, but at this time of life, the good always outweighs the bad.
I am extremely grateful to have taken an education class on the applications of technology in classrooms. Technology is a particular aspect of teaching that I am the least comfortable with because I am not as proficient as many of my peers. Even though I have taken the course, I still feel that I have a far way to go to gain the skill that teachers need in the classroom. In level III, it is my goal to incorporate more use of technology into my lessons (if possible) so that I will have more practice in a real classroom. As a teacher, I do not want to waste valuable class time trying to work a computer or smartboard. Therefore, my goal is to gain as much experience and practice in dealing with technology as I can before having a classroom
In the end, this class has really opened my eyes to everything that is out there to supplement my teaching and my students learning. I am extremely happy that this class did not teach me how to use Microsoft Office , but I do wish that we could have had the opportunity to work more with the material rather than merely reading about the material. The Multimodal Task definitely allowed us to configure a lesson using and working with technology, but if we had more time, I wish we could have done more than one task to accomplish such goals.
Born in the eighties, I entered a world of big hair and bad style. In the technological realm there were tape players, VCR’s, and fresh on the market: personal computers. Apple was domination the computer scene with their introduction of the Lisa computer. But not for long, soon computer technology would jump to unimaginable heights. As I grew up the technology around me would continue to grow and advance – quite rapidly I might add.
With the rapid growth of technology in America’s society today, the use of computers in school classrooms has increased tremendously—an action that certainly has become beneficial to students, educators, and parents. The use of computers has positively skyrocketed over the past ten years. Not only are computers utilized daily in large companies across the world, but the everyday use in classrooms has also become prevalent. Using modern technology to assist school instructors with his or her daily lessons should definitely be regarded as a positive, acceptable method of instruction and not definitely does not prohibit students from understanding or critical thinking.
...deas and knowledge. Also, it is essential to understand in order to succeed in school, find information, and qualify for most jobs. New technologies continue to be created. The wisest step is to embrace the new technologies since they are unlikely to go away. Those who have the most knowledge of new technologies are able to accomplish more, and find more options available to them in life.
I roll around on my bed, tossing and turning. The blare from my alarm clock deafens my right ear, and I quickly throw an arm over to it and slam on the snooze button. It is 6 o'clock in the morning, and already technology has affected my life. I fall to my feet and walk towards the showers. Another form of technology is about to take over my life. Well, at least for the next ten to 20 minutes.
Whether some people believe it or not, technology is just as important as reading, math and writing for students. It may take some time for those individuals to understand the importance of technology. The more technology that develops over the years and decades, the more benefits it can attribute to a student’s live. Without technology, a student’s life can have some challenges as they grow up. You never see student without their technology, so there shouldn’t be a reason why they can’t use it to benefit
