As since the starting of the social work it has emphasized on the importance of social action (intervention ) as compared to clinical social work. As merely witnessing the problems will not solve the issues faced by or in the society. there are sympathetic politicians, bureaucrats and decision makers, but they work in a milieu that has shifted towards privatization, maximum profit, costs versus care, and they are heavily influenced by polls. India is the country of the diversities wherein the all the peoples from different religious groups lives together in the same society. Being the largest democracy of the world. All the citizens of the country has various human rights to practice and their equal representation too. As the human race is always engrossed in solving the issues/problems they face time to time . india too has various issues and challenges in which India which needs intervention like social action in various field setting of social work .to name few of the issues faced by the india are corruption, sex discrimination , religious violence , caste based violence , sanitation(health), child abuse etc. to name few of them. Which importantly needs the intervention of social action to bring the issues to the forefront of the state. Approaches of social action By Britto(1984) Elitist Social Action model In the elitist model of social action, Actions are initiated and conducted by the elites for the benefit of masses(population). In the elitist model of social action, common population or the target group is not involved. It has three sub-models 1) Legislative social action model 2)Economic sanction model 3)Direct physical model Popular social action model This kind of model is usually initiated by a large secion of the people who may or may not take the involvement of elite participation. They through their confrontantional action tries to challenge the unjust and dehumanizing structures ,agencies,policies or the procedures.
