Dress Code in Public Schools
Do you like wearing sweat pants or leggings? Because of dress code in schools students are restricted from wearing things like sweatpants, leggings and many athletic clothes. Restricting students from choice of dress is taking away students right of freedom of expression.To understand dress code in schools it is important to know the rules, the positives, and the negatives of dress code in schools.
Leggings and sweatpants are not the only rules Chelsea Middle school has set in place. There is many more dress code rules students have to follow. When they are broken, a family member or guardian will have to bring the student a change of clothes or that student will be put in in school suspension. The following are examples of some dress code rules that Chelsea Middle School students have to follow. Male students are not allowed to wear sleeveless garments(“Shelby”15). No excessively tight clothing will be allowed(“Shelby” 16). Students clothing should be neat with no noticeable disrepair(“Shelby”16). Articles of clothing worn too low, too long, too large, too tight, or too loose are not allowed(“Shelby” 16).
