From the moment of interviews to the end of our education in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program the quality our professors will notice and watch develop throughout is professionalism. In the context of being a student in this elite program, professionalism entails the same attributes employers look for in new hires and who patients seek to find the best care. There are many attributes underscoring professionalism, but what I will focus on are the qualities I embody through my life, how they apply to a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program, and how my experiences in a Physical Therapy clinic have shaped my perspective of professionalism.

This quality of professional behavior can be as simple as showing up prepared in a timely manner, to taking responsibility for mistakes. The principles I implement to be accountable in my life are to follow through on what I have promised, take responsibility for of my actions, and make a habit of following these. In a Physical Therapy program the accountability we build between professors and other students demonstrates our dedication to the programs and seriousness to becoming health professionals. In similarity, from my experiences in a Physical therapy clinic, to gain accountability we must continually fulfill our responsibilities of finishing paperwork on time, avoiding excesses, and prove to be reliable when it genuinely counts. What is most important to me and what I use in my life are the words effectively and efficiently. I have always been driven to fully complete any task to the best of my ability and in my most efficient way. Whether it is studying for test or working on projects I have the competence to anything to the best of my ability. This quality I have would allow me to excel in a rigorous Physical Therapy program since I have developed the abilities to get best quality in the smallest amount of time. In the class room and the therapy clinic, finding the most efficient methods to study adds to our competence during tests, and helps us have the knowledge to know precisely how to treat patient. From my experiences in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation I have had the opportunity to learn a lot, and I have noticed the efficiency differences between therapists working with patients and making the best of their time.

All in all there are many characteristics demonstrating professional behavior, but the qualities I take to heart and implement in my life are altruism, accountability, integrity, and competence. With my positive attitude pushing me through this process of fulfilling my dream of becoming a Physical therapist and numerous hours of hard work in the classroom and the Physical Therapy clinic I am absolutely ready to exude my professionalism in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy
