Being health conscious is arguably the most important thing a person can do for themselves during her lifetime. I was quite overweight as a child, so when I became old enough to realize the importance of a quality diet and exercise ritual, I strongly began to enforce them. Today I continue to monitor the amount of fatty, oily foods I consume, as well as maintain some level of physical activity. Until instructed in the course, Dynamics of Personal Health, I had never charted out my food consumption or physical activity. It was very interesting and beneficial to see a breakdown of my daily calorie intake and usage. As stated in “Understanding Your Health”, “Food Supports growth and development by providing the body with nutrients needed for energy, repair of damaged tissue, growth of new tissue, and regulation of physiological processes.” (Payne, Hahn & Lucas 113). It may sound obvious to say food is responsible for life, but when a person lives a life where food is always accessible, it is far too easy to forget the importance of food. Eating can often become and arbitrary part of living, but what a …show more content…
The best advice I saw on the website was, “start small”. It has been a goal of mine for some time to have visible abdominal muscles. I know having abs is not a true testimony of physical health, but I feel as though obtaining the body image I want is one of the best motivators for eating right and exercising. If I truly want to achieve this goal, I have to start small and research the best exercises and foods to eat in order to see the results I want. Once I have the knowledge I need, I can slowly incorporate the necessary dietary and exercise changes into my life. Understanding that there are resources, like the super tracker, that are easily accessible, will allow me to get where I want to be physically and anyone else who takes advantage of
Food as we know is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. Food therefore is very important for our body maintenance and all the growth processes. The importance of food and eating cannot be overemphasized but the question remains; can we eat anything and everything

Food influences us in many ways. These ways include food as nutrition, how we see nature, in our culture, it is a social good, it is a source of inspiration in an artful way, food is a primordial desire, and food influences our spirituality. Food is a substance that derives from the environment in the form of plants, animals, or water. The primary function of food is to provide nourishment to an organism. It is a basic necessity that all humans want and need in order to live. Food has an intrinsic value separate from its instrumental value to satisfy human needs. Food has a significant impact on a culture. Each society determines what is food, what is acceptable to eat, and when certain things are consumed. Food is the object of hunger

It is estimated that about forty-three million children under the age of ten are obese and that was found in urban areas. One of the main reasons obesity develops is due to the fact that the child, adolescent or adult has an unhealthy diet. Good nutrition plays a huge part in everyone’s life; no matter if you’re a male or female good nutrition is always important. Keeping us healthy, nutrition reduces the risks of developing diseases such as chronic disease, stroke and also cancer. Good nutrition is also important because studies have shown that it is good for mental health including depression which is also linked to obesity. A proper diet consists of healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, fiber foods and limiting fats or sugars. Eating fruits and vegetables is important when developing into an adolescent or an adult because vegetables are rich in vitamins A and C, also fibers and potassium which are excellent for the human body (Fuentes, Schellekens, Dinan, & Cryan, 2015, p. 52). Vitamins and fibers help the human body by shaping our bones, helping immune systems, and healing certain
One aspect of life that most individuals take for granted is physical health. Most people assume that an individual cannot lose physical health or if somebody becomes sick the health care system will be able to recover one’s health with the new medical advances that are always happening around the world. However, this is not always the case some individuals have to face a chronic loss of health and deal with the implications of this on their life. The loss of health I will be talking about today is not a direct loss of personal health, but a loss of health that my father experiences and how different components of this loss affected my family and I’s life.
“A lot of what we "know" about other nations ' approach to health care is simply myth.” (Reid, 2013) Mr. T Reid said this quote best. We simply do not know enough about healthcare to form a judicious opinion on it. Healthcare is the number one field that is always changing and the changes are so vast that most cannot keep up with them. Many American’s, myself included have a hard time understanding the altering healthcare field and are always struggling to keep up with the modifications.
Eating nutrients and healthy foods determines health and are essentials for living a better life. Based off of past knowledge
In conclusion, having a healthy lifestyle helps reduce the risk of health problems, whether you have a family history of diseases or not. Physical activity, and making smart choices with how much you consume and what you consume can expand your lifespan. Being aware of your body composition can help identify your risk classification, and it can help plan a way to avoid diseases. Just like too much body fat can be harmful to health, having too little fat can also be crucial to a person’s health. The goal should be to have a balanced calorie intake and physical activity (calorie in = calorie out) for a healthy lifestyle.
Following a healthy lifestyle has now become an emerging trend. Research and many studies have proven that merely exercise will not entitle an individual as healthy. A good nutrition
A child’s proper growth depends greatly on their nutrition and health. A healthy diet is essential to the developing child. Food should never be used to reward, punish, or bribe a child. Instead children should have three healthy meals with snacks in between. It is also important for children to have good self care behaviors (including bathing, washing hands, brushing teeth), and adequate sleep.
The majority of people in this society try to exercise and eat right to stay healthy. The problem is that they worry more about exercising and not getting good nutrition. They do not understand that exercise is not enough to be healthy. In order to be healthy, people should be aware of what they eat. This may not be easy for everyone, but one can get support from family and friends in order for it to be easy. Good nutrition is more important than regular exercise because it helps in losing weight, helps to fuel the body, prevent the risk of getting diseases, and helps building muscles.
The United States is one of the most obese countries in the world. This shows us that many people look towards food to fill voids, to de-stress themselves, for convenience, and for various other reasons. This also shows that countless Americans do not try to stop their bad habits until it is too late. This highlights that many of them have the mentality of “it won’t happen to me”. When they do develop a disease, or become obese they wish they would’ve done something about it. This also brings up the issue of many generations acting and thinking this way due to their parents’ lack of knowledge and understanding. This causes their children to grow up thinking and acting the same way towards food and potentially walking the same path as their parents did with food. Obesity has become a growing infection plaguing the world and its children. A simple forty-five-minute exercise everyday can reduce the risk of heart disease, a disease in which I struggle with daily and has become a never ending battle. If American’s would make eating properly and exercising regularly a priority, their lives would be
