Recommended: Reflection on volunteer experience
Social activities are mostly intriguing and inspiring while at the same time it can benefit you with certain set of skills that allow you to widen your horizon. From personal experience, I have been a part of many volunteering events, and Junior Achievement is one of them. I have never heard of the program before attending the Business-Professional class with Kiki; frankly my first impression when I knew about the program was not the best, but after being a part of the program I started to enjoy the experience that I had with it. In this paper, I am going to provide some personal experience of what I taught as well as the valuable experience I gained along with some factors that can be improved by the organization in the future. My intention would be that it could help JA becoming an even better education provider to all the children around the world in the future.
Since my major is Economics, it was a benefit for me in order to explain the students in more detail as I have some background knowledge

All the students were really active in every activity we did; everyone tried to participate by raising their hands to give out ideas. I was surprised by their inspiring little mind; they did not fear to give out opinions, and that made me think of why I should be more open to people around me regardless of any factor. After the event, I started to change my reaction whenever I want to express my idea; I am more confident and concise in the speech I give.
Moreover, improvisation was another skill I improved with the JA program; being a third graders teacher even for a day does not mean that they are not going to ask you questions, which are off the topic. In order to give out any negative influential fact about the world these days, I need to alter what as well as how I express my idea in front of
While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
During the term I learned about how the real world actually works and the complexities of day to day life. I can apply my knowledge to my everyday life. One thing that surprised me was how much influence the public opinion had on economics. One of the lessons taught me how sometimes comparative advantage is better than absolute advantage. The knowledge I gained from the lesson can be used when I work. Inflation is an issue that everyone can be affected by. During time of inflation, I learned to keep some physical asset, such as gold, which I could sell for a higher price.
The management of knowledge within the context of organizational processes is a determining factor of its effectiveness and level of performance. Hislop (2013) stated, "One of the key distinctions in the knowledge management literature relates to epistemology" (p. 8). In an attempt to acquire an in-depth understanding of key aspects of knowledge management I will analyze a key organizational job position that possesses valuable experience and traits of fulfilling responsibilities. My analysis will include a description of the organization and position, a review of the perspectives and types of knowledge, as described by Hislop (2013), as they relate to the job position, and the challenges encountered in transferring
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919 by Horace A. Moses, Theodore Vail and Winthrop M. Crane. Junior Achievement (JA) of Utah was established in 1956. It is the largest organization dedicated to giving young people knowledge to plan for the future, make smart academic and economic choices and skills they need for their own success. JA is a program that helps prepare young people for the real world. JA shows students how to be “work ready” with hands on projects. It helps students see the connection between what they learn in school and the working world and the value of staying in school. It teaches financial literacy and about entrepreneurship. The projects show students how to manage, create jobs, understand their communities, earn money and how to think in the work place, how to make goals and reach goals. JA teaches students the whys, hows and wows of opportunities in the world. JA works with local businesses and organizations and community volunteers give hands-on experience to students.
I would always dread even presenting a project in class. It would make me nervous for the whole day. But back to the story. Like I said, it was just going to be a normal day. About a week before the event, we had a rehearsal for the induction in our gym. There, we practiced how we would walk down the rows with the new members and pass candles to them. While we practiced, Ms. Birmingham, our NJHS director approached me.
Sharing my experience and getting feedback from my classmates helped me to recognize how my thoughts could affect other people and the most important part for me that I could hear how they think about my beliefs. Because of our instructor’s calmness, we all felt free to talk and share our beliefs with each other. Also, getting group support which in my opinion is one of the most powerful support of the world, has been very precious for me since the beginning of the program. My cohort encouraged me to share my opinion even though sometimes it was totally differ than their own. Respecting and freedom of speech were two other things that I have experienced in our discussion as
Past experiences are like the bottom blocks of a pyramid because it is hard to start something big without a base. Along with personal experiences is the living situation at home, for example, our parents are a big influence in our lives. With these influences we tend to back them up believing that we are right. In perspective we have opinions on everything, so when we are reading we are also seeing how this is different or the same in our lives. Moreover, our personal experiences shape our reaction by writing something that may challenge the way we think, something that may interest a reader, or something the reader did not expect.
The class helped me learn how to overcome fear of public speaking which was brought about by anxiety and fear which was mainly contributed by lack of exposure. During this class I learned many ways of overcoming this menace, the class groups that served as the audience helped in practicing and getting over the anxiety and fear I also got positive critic...
As I sit here and reflect on how my education and work life experiences have prepared me for my future in the workplace; I truly become overwhelmed by the amount of things that I have learned and experienced. Like many others these experiences has influenced, motivated, and driven me to make the choices I have made. The good, the bad and the ugliest of them all have helped me to become the person that I am today.
There have been many challenging experiences in my life that have contributed to my personal development. Every day I go through experiences that I believe make me a better person, ranging from being the president of debate club, to public speaking, to handling a problem between my friends. But the most significant experience is the disintegration of the relationship with my father. From this, I learned how to handle my problems in a more intelligent and sophisticated manner. This has been the most impactful experience of my life.
For the purpose of this paper I will be describing a personal life experience and I will be applying concepts from the texts to best describe the event. I was born here in the United States (US) but, I was raised in the Dominican Republic (DR). I lived in the DR basically my entire life, I would only come to the US for vacation during summer. It was not until I turned 12 that I decided to move back to the US to continue my studies and learn the language. So I did, I moved with my uncle and his wife on the summer of 2009. At the time, they resided in the Mayfair area of Philadelphia, PA. My uncle and his wife arranged everything for school and as of August of that year I was officially enrolled in Abraham Lincoln High School. Everything was
“A man should never be ashamed to own he has been in the wrong, which is by saying, in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.” - Alexander Pope (1688-1744)
I do not think that everyone fits in one hundred percent of the time. I think there are times that we all feel out of the loop, and there are times when we feel like we do not belong. Whether we like it or not, those moments can change us and shape us. I have had times like this in my life too. One of these instances that is still affecting me to this very day has become even more prevalent in the past few months. This experience I am having has changed the way I think, act, and feel about the world surrounding me.
During my time as a student I have been able to develop the way I learn and interact with others to a degree that has also helped me to mature into a better person. I have come to believe that this maturity will help me to develop into a better thinker as well, one that has the patience to listen and take consideration of what others have to say. I consider the act of learning a two way avenue that has to be taken seriously. It is one that involves the teacher, and the protégé. It has been, and will continue to be, my absolute goal as a student to become a diligent protégé and acquire all of learning my teachers have set in front of me. The way each of them have helped me to think about how my actions, and the way I choose to study my lessons and develop as a student, has made a tremendous impact on my life. This impact is one that I will carry into the future as I myself advance in my professional studies.
Class participation was great everyone joined in on the discussion. People in the class felt comfortable talking out loud and putting there two sense in.
