Husbands need to be involved with the children and household chores, there needs to be balanced. Adrienne Rich, article "Anger and Tenderness" stated, "I waited with impatience for the moment when their father would return from work, when for an hour or two at least the circle drawn around mother and children would grow looser..."(p.23). It can be selfish for a mother to detach themselves from their position because the more it helps to relieve the stress, anger, and tenderness that she is dealing with at the moment. She needs time for herself to rejuvenate from her busy day, in need of support from her spouse. From a man's perspective, they are different from a woman's perspective because doesn't have to be with the children 24/7. They don't have firsthand experience in caring for the children, It would be helpful if the husband could take equal priority in taking care of the children once in a while. Being a mother can be hard for most women because they don't have time for themselves. Adrienne Rich stated, "We spoke of our own moments of murderous anger at our children, because there was no one and nothing else on which to discharge anger" (p.24). The anger that a mother kept inside herself will be forced upon the child because when a woman is with their child all day she doesn't have anybody to talk to or to relieve their
Hope Edelman, an author and newspaper writer, formulates in “The Myth of Co-Parenting: How It Was Supposed to Be. How It Was.”, that when it comes to marriage it is not perfect, unlike the way that she had imagined. At the beginning of her essay, Edelman implicitly mentions her frustrations with the amount of time her husband was working, however, later on she explicitly becomes upset about her husband always working. Edelman mentions throughout her essay that before marriage, she believed co-parenting was an attainable goal. She talks about how she feels like her husband keeps working more and she has to pick up the slack at home. This imbalance causes Edelman to become angry and frustrated with her husband, she feels the no matter how hard they try, the 50/50 split does not happen. Throughout the article, Edelman
“Men’s greater involvement at home is good for their relationships with their partner and also good for their children. Hands-on fathers make better parents than men who let their wives do all the nurturing and child care” (Coontz 99). Coontz believed that if men come home after work and share the chores with their wife, then they will have stronger bonds and the marriage will stay longer. Children’s are very observant, therefore they will learn valuable lessons from both of their parents. Carver showed how his father not being involved in the family has affected his relationship with his
In general, most people think that the father should work while the mother takes care of the children. Generally, this implies that the mother is inferior to her husband, taking on a so called, simpler role. While this can be true, there are exceptions. In Kramer vs. Kramer, there is an

Dorment goes into personal detail by describing how his spouse might refold the laundry after he does it himself, or clean again after he does it. This is no longer a matter of a man not willing to step-up, but instead the personality of the relationship shining through. On an emotional note, women often find it harder to be away from their children which leaves heavily emotional baggage placed on work decisions (709). This can be chalked up to social conditioning, genetic predisposition, or emotional shallowness for men; whatever it is, may ironically, be the cost of doing business. Conversely, men are being judged as fathers in a way harder than ever before (708). Each party has hardships of its own, but it will revert back each individual's personality and the dynamic of the relationship. At the end of the day, there are no concrete answers to these endless issues so Dorment puts it best by saying, "we do the best we can"
When women become mothers they love and protect their child. All mothers care about their children and always want the best for them. Children also rely on their mothers to take care of them and to love them. But when mothers become older sometimes they have to start relying on their children and their children start to take care of them. In “Youngest Daughter”, by Song a mother relies on her daughter to take care of her in her old age, but her daughter also relies on her for other things as well. In “Labor of Love”, by Tagami a mother and son must work together and care for each other during tough times. When it comes to being a mother or a child the roles can be reversible.
A woman has the right to consider many options of dealing with unplanned pregnancies that may be a final burden they don’t want to take on during a time of hardship. Many women and young teens get pregnant at a time in their lives when they are still maturing and would rather terminate a pregnancy because they feel they are not ready for the added responsibility that a baby brings and want to continue getting an education with ease instead of the stresses of having to juggling on to many responsibilities all at once. “Being a single parent may interrupt careers and the ability to earn wages if complication occurs to take care of the household bills.” (Lowen, 2014). Because we live in a society that judges and places status on people some young mothers avoid becoming young single mothers of not having to deal with parental disapproval. “Lately abortions have been on the decline since the introduction of long-term contraceptives like intrauterine devices and may be also the recent recession and the economy's unpredictability.” (Eckholm, 2014). Mothers and Fathers in childbearing families play an important role to their children’s lives. Mothers are to nurture, give guidance and discipline by showing love and compassion to both husband and child while fathers are known to give the same to their children, but in a more physical hands on direction compared to verbal interactions that mothers give. “Studies of families with fathers actively involved in both childcare and household responsibilities, reported preschoolers who showed increased cognitive competence, increased capacity for empathy, increased self-control, and a decrease in gender-stereotyped beliefs” (Weiss, Louis, Ph.D., “Fathers Role in Early Child Development” p. 2).A healthy marriage relationship between the mother and father brings a healthy social and psychological development to the child’s life. Having a healthy relationship reduces unhealthy behavior that would be caused by stress, emotional stability, and overall physical health. This gives a longer life expectancy to the family. “In fact, research suggests that the best
Men have the same rights and obligations, as a child’s birth mother, to spend quality time, bond with, and care for a new baby. With some families living isolated from close relatives, it may be difficult for the mother’s family to support her after the birth of the child. “A study released in January found that fathers who took two or more weeks of leave upon their child's birth are more likely to be involved in the direct care of their children beyond leave” (Gringleburg). The time proceeding childbirth is the most stressful and tedious time. Parents have to adjust to the new baby and his or her schedule, especially the mother. With the both parents home, a lot of the stress is taken off the mother be...
When someone thinks about the definition of a father, he or she thinks about the support, care, love, and knowledge a father gives to his offspring. Most people automatically believe that biological fathers, along with the mothers, raise their children. However, that is not always the case. There are many children across the world who are raised without their father. These children lack a father figure. People do not realize how detrimental the lack of a father figure can be to the child, both mentally and emotionally. Enrolling boys between the ages of 5 to 16 without father figures in programs, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, that involve building a relationship with someone who can serve as a role model is essential to prevent males from depression, difficulty in expressing emotions, and other consequences of having an absent father figure.

Parents have an obligation to take care for children, so that when they grow up they are able to become a person who is strong enough to support himself.
