Do you believe that some people make time for what they want in life? Do you make time for what you want in life? Have you ever shown small gestures to show someone how much you really appreciate them? Making time for the people you care about can be hard, but when someone does put in the effort to create time for an individual, it makes a huge difference. Time can be hard to find, when you are trying to better yourself in life, but there is always another alternative to show people in your life that they are appreciated. A lot of people tend to forget how important it is to make time for love ones, that when the individual leaves, that is when they realize how important it is to make time. On January 15,2011, was the day my ex-boyfriend and
I took the offer not only because I still had feelings for him, but because I seen a huge change in him, that made me like him even more. The best part about this was before he asked me out, he made sure we were friends, which then became best friends, and the end up becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. On July 29,2013, our journey for the second time began. At that time, I was a senior in high school, and he was entering college. It was going great for the first year of our relationship. We were talking and texting 247, and we were going out almost every week. Until, he found himself a job. For past two years, time has been a huge problem within my relationship. It has drowned me away from him, and caused our relationship to go down the drain. My best friend, who use to be my boyfriend, was always there when I needed him. The only problem was he never put in the effort to create time for us, nor do small gestures to show that I was appreciated. He started to put his job and other personal things, that was going on in his life before me. Whenever I would talk to him about spending time, there was always an excuse, such as, he cannot call out of work because they need him, or “I cannot because that is too far of a drive”, or “I do not have the fund for it”, and many other excuses. It drove me insane, due to the fact, that I never asked for the things, that
I met him at the Hawthorne high-school’s orientation. October 3, 2012, was the official date and months of being with him, for the first time ever he made me feel something I’ve never felt before. He was the first guy I ever came to love. I can go on about this, but I’m not going into detail about what happened those years. Let’s just wrap up that story to the simple truth, he left me. I had invested all my time and attention towards him, that I began to care less about school. I was never expecting it, or maybe I was. It hurt. Looking at him hurt. I remember coming home and crying my heart out. I was devastated. It was something I’ve never wanted to experience. I sobbed and sobbed that night, and gripped onto my pillow and shouted into them, hiding the cries. I felt empty when I awoke the next day. My eyes were swollen, and I felt an empty void. I felt dead. We didn’t speak to each other after that. Months passed, and I was keeping myself occupied with work and friends, I finally was learning how to move on, on my own. I finally came to find my happiness through realization. They say somethings happen for a reason. It’s either a
Why does one love? One loves for the sake of happiness. This was the common mindset in the pre-modern worldview from the time of ancient Greece. The ideas present in Plato’s The Symposium have however been replaced with a more contemporary view, particularly in Western societies. Allan Bloom details this transition in his work Love and Friendship. Bloom argues that the idea of “eros” has lost its true meaning; it has been morphed into a selfish and self-less act of mere sex: “Eros, in its Freudian version, is really all just selfishness and provides no basis for intimate human connection” (Bloom 24). Sex is no longer a form of a strong, intimate connection, but rather our contemporaries have allowed sex to become “no different from a description of eating habits” (Bloom 20). Society today sees sex everywhere, it is forced upon us by the media, but there’s no beauty in it. Love relationships once were for the purpose of exchanging knowledge, today it is a label frequently and erroneously used.
Love is not a choice. We do not choose who we give our hearts to. Many people can attest to this. Emily Dickinson wrote "That love is all there is, Is all we know of love." Love is a feeling that no one has the power over and love is a feeling that conquers all. Anyone who has tried to conquer or control love has failed. Love does not listen to laws, science, societal gender, religion, social class, or race. Love is its own entity that can give human beings the biggest high they have ever felt, and also make them feel the most immense pain known to mankind. If love is all of these things and more, than love certainly is not going to be stopped by gender. To love gender is just a small hill to be climbed with new diversities on the other side.
“ Love” is the most romantic, powerful and meaningful to each human being on the earth, but what exactly is the meaning of “ love” ? Some say love is a streak of sunshine to light the darkness; some say love is an umbrella to keep them away from sadness; some say love is the fountain of happiness; in addition, a speaker , Phaedrus , who is from the book “ Plato’s Symposium”, said that “ Love is one of the most ancient gods”(This is a quote from the book, p873). Indeed, the love of god had given her great love to me since I were born, and so that I can write an essay as a newborn free man. However, as I look around that people who stand beside me and come alone with me, and no matter how lost I get they never abandon me, they always stick up for me. Why? Because this is what love is. So, I realize that love is simple that I can find it everywhere.
For many years, love has been argued as to whether it is a feeling or a choice. We experience love in all shapes in forms through family, friends, or significant others. But what is the true, desirable definition of love? You would be surprised with how much this four letter word means to the world and how much it could affect your life. I believe love is something unique and special that most people cannot live without. If you feel as if these characteristics don't exist in your life, then what will you have in the end? (Odo 66) But then again love isn't just about the “magic” you have for someone, but about how to make it work and to keep that meaning alive, and about learning to love yourself before you love others.
The Definition of Love Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definitions through the Internet, books, and articles, I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia is probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All of which can only be defined by one word and that is love.
A lot of conflicts came about in the two years we dated. He would not take up for me if someone was making rude comments when we were together, he would sit silently and not try to protect my feelings. One conflict in particular was parents being too involved in the
Everyone has their own interpretation of love. They all have their own meaning and understanding. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary the definition of love is, “strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties”(Merriam-Webster), the dictionary definition tells us that it is a feeling toward someone you know and have some sort of connection with. However, to each and every person love has a different meaning that relates to how they have experienced love in the past, and what they have seen or heard about love. Regardless of what each person believes love might mean, the science behind it cannot be changed. Understanding the science of love will give it a definite meaning, inform us why we have love, and it can reshape you.
Some people believe that there is no such thing as “true love” they believe that love is nothing but an illusion designed by social expectations. These people believe that love ultimately turns into pain and despair. This idea in some ways is true. Love is not eternal it will come to an end one way or another, but the aspect that separates true love from illusion, is the way love ends. “True Love” is much too powerful to be destroyed by Human imperfection; it may only be destroyed by a force equal to the power of love. Diotima believed that “Love is wanting to posses the good forever” In other words love is the desire to be immortal and the only way that we are able to obtain immortality is through reproduction, and since the act of reproduction is a form of sexual love, then sexual love is in fact a vital part of “True love”. Sexual love is not eternal. This lust for pleasure will soon fade, but the part of love that is immortal, is a plutonic love. You can relate this theory to the birth of love that Diotima talks about. She says that love was born by a mortal mother and immortal father. The mother represents the sexual love, the lust for pleasure. The father represents the plutonic love that is immortal. Plutonic love is defined as a true friendship, the purest of all relationships. A true plutonic love will never die; it transcends time, space, and even death.
Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
Love. Everyone is familiar with that four-letter word, but do they actually know what it means? What is love exactly? Is love being with someone you care about the most? Or is liking something way more than you do? It is astounding to think that this four letter word could mean so much in many different ways and how it could affect your (or another person’s) life. Everyone has their own view on love. Whether it is a positive view or a negative one, somehow, love always finds a way to end up in a person’s life, even if they aren’t looking for it.
What exactly is love? Is there an absolute meaning to the word - love? Or is it purely subjective? The concept of true love is what we search for all our lives. Yet love is one of the most misunderstood concepts of all. What people really want more than anything else is to be loved unconditionally; to be accepted for who we are, and still be loved. Sometimes we will do some crazy things, "in the name of love."
When you control your time, and work more efficiently, you're able to learn more and increase your experience faster. Time management should also include more than teaching, scholarship, and service. Effective time management also means reserving time for recovery, and time for financial factors, time for family, and time for friends. Having a goal-oriented strategy that makes an effective use of your time will bring you success no matter how you look at it. There isn’t anything we can do about time itself. We can change how we deal with events
When I was a young girl in elementary school I developed a friendship with a girl that lived a block from me. We began visiting each other’s homes every day. Having sleep overs, riding the bus together and even sitting with each other during lunch. We developed a friendship that couldn’t be broken. It didn’t matter that I was African American and she was Caucasian her whole family made me feel like I was one of their own. While I didn’t know much about anything and didn’t really know what family meant I learn it from her family. She taught me how to line dance and I learn to love his strange music that was peaceful and full of love called country music. It had a way of making your feel happy when you were down. We formed a bond and became best friends she was the only friend I had and I remember when her other friends came to visit I grew kind of jealous because I thought they would take her away from me and I would be all alone again so I became distant. She was such a great friend and for somehow she knew what was bothering me without me even having to say anything so she told me that it shouldn’t worry we will always be friends and it’s okay to have more than one best friend. She was so wise for her age I use to think to myself. As I grew older my mother and siblings and I moved out of town and I lost connection with her but with the increased technology like Facebook we have reconnected. I believe attraction played a major part on us becoming friends. Our friendship started on the school bus on the ride home from school. A couple of bullies started picking on her because of her freckles and fi...
Loving yourself is the key to a happy life. When you love all that you are, unconditionally, life reflects that back to you. When you learn to love yourself, fully, you create a happy, loving environment to flourish in. When we lose sight of what’s most important—loving self—we lose sight of our goals and dreams and being happy and healthy. Ultimately, to live a fulfilling life, first and foremost, requires that you love all that you are and trust that life loves you in return.
