Married couples also have different needs regarding feeling emotionally safe. Everyone needs to feel understood, nurtured and supported but the way these needs are met can vary widely. Marriage is something most people do but few do it well. If a couple is not looking at divorce papers that are probably seeking marriage counseling. If they are not screaming to the top of their lungs at each other they are probably sneaking out to lie in someone else’s arms. If they are not physically abusing one or the other they are probably being mentally abusive. If a couple is not saying hurtful things to each other they are probably not saying anything at all because why would they when the other is not going to listen anyways. We have all been in or seen relationships struggle with these kinds of things. This big question is where did they go wrong? I think the answer to that question lies in Matt Chandler’s book The Mingling of Souls. Chandler’s answer to the question above is that if a couple wants to have a truly successful marriage they must follow God’s design for marriage. Now Chandler is in no way implying that a couple will not struggle if they do it God’s way but they will be able to get through those struggles together. This review is not a summary of the book but it will discuss the strength and weaknesses of
It is not all about communication” . It says that not surprisingly those couples who reported communicating more effectively showed the highest satisfaction with their relationships. But the next two reasons which were also the only other ones with strong links to couple happiness, were knowledge of partner which included everything from knowing their pizza-topping preferences to their hopes and dreams and life skills like being able to hold a job, manage money, etc . But in order to have a healthy relationship I do believe that the communication is key but they also do need to know how to communicate in a healthy way that will not cause
Communications generally occur in body languages: how the individuals interpret each other. Her essay is an event that is reoccurring more and more lately. The event results in a failure in marriage. In today’s society more and more people are splitting up or having divorces due to miscommunications. The essay, “Sex, Lies and Conversation,” that Deborah Tannen wrote is much use of today because it explains where miscommunications happen and she has her own studies and research to back it up. The essay goes into depth about her ideologies that cause miscommunications. Look at a miscommunication twice and do not be quick to judge because it will save plenty of
Some relationships last a lifetime and others are destroyed for various reasons. Marriage is in my view one of the most fragile relationships in today's society. Although it is scientifically proven that the family is the place where a person can develop physically and intellectually in a harmonious way, and can maintain his/her physical and mental health, today many families are falling apart, causing much suffering not only to the partners but also to the children in the family. The author of the article on the site www.apa.org/helpcenter, suggests a few steps to take in order to keep the romantic partnership in good working order, and I think this is also true for a happy marriage too. According to the site, communication is a key piece of healthy relationships. Another recommendation is to keep the marriage relationship interesting, planning interesting activities together, away from the daily routine. When you can no longer overcome the obstacles that arise in marriage, it is recommended to call for outside

The couple has lacked communication as well as Mrs. Davis has felt unheard. Therefore, helping the couple in communication will began to reshape and reform new clear boundaries within the spousal subsystem and parental subsystem. Helping my client’s communicate in a way that brings value to each other will strengthen the couple’s love for each other which will build hope (Worthington, 2005). In assisting the Davis’s in communication I would ask them to complete invention 10-5 exercise the will help them discern their personal love language. A love language is how each person in a relationship expresses their love through words and actions (Worthington, 2005).

Satisfaction and stability in a marriage is achieved through communication and interaction between its members. A breakdown of interpersonal communication is positively related to dissatisfaction in a marriage.
I don’t know where I would be without my best friend. The person who keeps me sane when my family is driving me crazy, or the person who will stay up with me all night to support me when I have a last minute paper due in a class; I don’t know where I would be without that support. I found this support in my best friend, my sister from another father, Regina. Regina is an eccentric, overbearing, lover of all things natural type of girl. She lives life to the fullest and never backs down from a challenge. She is funny, full of whit and sharper than a tack fresh out of the box. Although it hasn’t always been a smooth road for us we still remain friends to this day.
