Canada had not always been a loving and accepting country. In the 20th century, Canada had committed countless acts of racism, hatred, and discrimination towards people who lived in the country. Yet over the years, Canada has evolved from this status and has proven its humanitarianism by fulfilling many acts of greatness. Humanitarian countries have earned this title by altering the conditions of a person by improving lifestyles, helping, and sharing general concern for the common man. Canada showed this trait by firstly making numerous peacekeeping acts to benefit others and themselves. Secondly, Canada has continued to better the lives of its residents by giving multiple benefits to those who are citizens. And lastly, Canada is one of the most culturally diverse nations and will accept all, based on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. No matter the cruelty Canada has shown in its past, the efforts it has made to redeem itself is more than anyone can ever overlook. Canada’s acts even today continue to show its ability to be a humanitarian nation. Canada is considered to be humanitarian because of its contribution to multiple committees and groups that’s sole purpose is to bring peace and better living. Throughout the multiple battles the rage on in our world, Canada has helped as much as it possibly can. Canada has sent military help to countries in need over the course of its life. It continues to participate in worldly events that require assistance. In 1950, Canada sent a large assortment of troops to Korea to fight in the UN “police action” to protect the elected South Korean government. Canada had been enforcing more than peacekeeping, but the involvement in this event showed the actions Canada is willing to take on behalf ... ... middle of paper ... ...f its residents. In 2009, Canada’s life expectancy rate was 81.2 years, ranking 6th in the world. Some countries who were also near the top of the list were countries who have a similar system to Medicare. In 1961, the average Canadian citizen could be expected to live until 71. With the development and continuation of Medicare, Canada has increased the life span of Canadians by more than 10 years over the course of 48 years. Along with the introduction of Medicare, Canada has also created multiple other benefits to provide the people of Canada maximum comfort. One of the benefits that are included is Employment Insurance. This provides assistance to those individuals who lose their job through no fault of their own. Some reasons could be shortage of work, lay-offs etc. If the person is still able and willing to work, they are applicable for employment insurance.
