Football is a great. Picture on a turf field with thousands of people yelling for you. Wearing pads, a helmet, and pair of cleats. Hitting people as hard as you can and feeling so much anger that you will do it over and over again. Throwing a ball around and trying to catch it. Kicking the ball if you are a kicker making the winning field goal in a game. Making some brothers on your team and that is how you get someone to cover your back and you do the same thing. Football is a career to many men here.
Hitting people is a very physical position in football. You have to have the strength, the speed, and anger. Throwing the ball is the mental position. Having the accuracy, knowing the field, and strength in the arm. Catching the ball takes the

Watching people hit others so hard that you felt and heard it has if you were right next to them. Physical is the best thing that most people like to watch this sport. Other people watch it because the team is from their home town or they watch because their own kids are playing in the game. When you go to the game most people make new friends cheering for their favorite team. Getting to know why and how they love football and that
The targeting rule will help to reduce the number of head injuries received by football players, both in college and the NFL, that lead to lifelong health issues. As Geoff Calkins from The Commercial Appeal notes in his article about Brian McCrary, there are many former college football players who suffer from moderate to severe brain damage later in life due to playing college football and having received targeted hits. The long-term effects of these head injuries suffered in the game are just being understood and acknowledged (Johnson). Andy Staples, from Sports Illustrated, notes that the targeting rule is the committees attempt to recognize the problem and help to make football a safer sport. The main purpose of the rule is to “save players’ brains” from permanent damage, with the secondary purpose to help make the sport safer (Couch). Football is a contact sport, but with this ...

The aforementioned attributes are favorable for children where they will learn to be young men, adapt to life, and adjust to different circumstances off the

Players are coach to be vicious on the field. they are taught to get mad and take their aggression out on the other player. Which can be dangerous when two or more players are trying to hurt(intentionally or not) the other player by hitting them hard. High school sports are dangerous because rese...
Surprisingly enough, one will find the most passionate football players at the high school level. Most boys will start their football career as a young child in football programs such as Pop Warner to get a foothold and to get those involved in teamwork and friendships. These programs are usually the start to someone falling in love with the sport and making it a career choice eight years later. Football is one of America’s favorite sports. For instance, from "Study of former NFL Players Highlights Risks of Tackling Too Young", ""Other research has shown that the brain undergoes key periods of development during childhood leading up to the age of 12 in males"…" This quote displays that the brain grows a lot at a young age and the growth can be affected by playing football. From "49ers' Chris Borland Retiring at 24, Wary of Head Trauma", "Borland is leaving football, and the promise of NFL stardom and piles of money could not change his mind. He was worried about head trauma." One can infer, the player was terrified of what may happen to his brain if he continued to play. Critics may say that brain injuries don't happen often and there is a slim chance of it occurring. However, as stated in "Study of former NFL Players Highlights Risks of Tackling Too Young", " players between 9 and 12 are exposed to an average of 240 head impacts in a single football season." It is clear, football causes multiple brain injuries, and some can be very
Being a football player in high school will improve a person as a whole. They get it in their head what routine and scheduling is and how they will work around it to take care of their other responsibilities. They learn how to ask for help because they won’t always understand everything or be able to fully comprehend a certain play. They know what it is like to be accountable for something and take those mistakes and turn into something better. They gain self reflection to do well and to stay in that game longer by knowing that they need step up their efforts or fall back because of an injury. The boys will also learn how to trust in themselves and others. Most importantly they always have the urge to accomplish their goals, which is a great personality trait because no matter what they will put in their all to get where they want to be in life.

There are different requirements needed in a players ' arsenal to develop a certain football leveled skill-set. This essay is about the difference between the high school football level and the professional football level. Some of these differences have to do with safety and protection of players.
Football is a relatively dangerous sport. In the game, the whole body is open to taking shots from opposing teams every play, but the most dangerous area to be hit is the head. Hits that lead to players having their heads
The National Football League was formed on August 20, 1920. Players wore pads, not quite as protective as the ones today, helmets and legs pads. Even though their protective gear was not as advanced as the gear today they still made contact with the players of the opposing teams. As the years progressed the league made several changes to the rules due to player safety. They invented better protective gear for the players and they also made stricter rules regarding playing guidelines. The main goal of those rules, like the targeting rule that is so controversial today, is to protect the players. The targeting rule itself states that no player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown of his helmet, when in question, it is a foul (Targeting). Although helmet to helmet hits come along with the game of football, the targeting rule is an attempt at making the game safer without changing its integrity.
First of all, the rules of football require one to equip himself with approximately twenty pounds of equipment, including a helmet, shoulder pads, and girdle pads. This is because football has the most contact involved out of all sports. In a football game, the norm is that the home team wears colorful jerseys and the visiting team wears white jerseys. Moreover, if a team’s offense is on the field, their defense is on the sideline. A team’s offense includes a center, who snaps the ball to the quarterback. The “QB” then has a choice to run with the ball, hand it off to a running back, or throw it to a wide receiver. The quarterback has an offensive line to protect him from the assailing defense. If a teammate happens to score a touchdown, he earns his team six points, which allows for the kicker to kick an extra point, and give his team a total of seven points. However, if the offense fails to travel at least ten yards within four attempts, or “downs,” they have the opti...
In any sport there will be injuries, however with the NFL the risk of getting injured is higher than any other sport. Players in the NFL are likely to get a concussion. It could be the physicality of the sport. Football has a long history with physical contact. To avoid injuries, the NFL has been changing rules and modifying player equipment, for safety. When the NFL was introduced in the 1920's player safety was in the creator's mind; there were only 14 teams, the uniform was made of thick wool, and helmets were not mandatory. The head injuries were gruesome; concussions to cracked skulls were the injuries players would suffer. The injuries became serious enough for the NFL to increase player safety. In 1930's helmets became mandatory. Even though players were able to wear helmets, the helmets were leather, and had no facemask. By the 1950's the NFL was changed, the overtime quarter was born and players were wearing hard plastic helmets. It was not until the 1950's the NFL made the plastic helmets mandatory. Concussions have been a part of the NFL since the beginning of the sport. In August of 2013 the NFL agreed to pay $765 million to settle a lawsuit brought by more than 4,500 players and their families. New York Tim...
When it comes to physical contact sports, there are two categories, collision sports and tackling sports. American football, ice hockey, lacrosse, boxing, and many more are considered collision sports. Tackling sports would consider rugby, Gaelic football, Australian rules football, and even soccer as some of the world’s tackling sports. A collision sport is way more dangerous than a tackling one. For example, in a football game, it is pretty typical to see players lose their helmet’s, ripped out of their jersey’s, and be taken off the field by ambulance. Reason being is because nowadays players feel like they are Iron Man...
Football isn’t even the most dangerous contact sport that you could play. Other high school sports have recorded just as much, or even more concussions than football. In an article on WebMD.com Robert Preidt writes that, “Between 2010 and 2015, the concussion rate was higher in girls' soccer than in boys' football, the findings showed. During the 2014-2015 school year, concussions were more common in girls' soccer than in any other sport in the study.” Despite being viewed as one of the most dangerous sports, football does not even have the largest rate of concussions or the most serious concussions. In fact, in another study on Fox Sports.com, soccer was seen to be responsible for more of the serious concussions. Concussion numbers can be dropped with attentiveness and responsibility as kids play the game of football. Most concussions in youth football are a result of the player being irresponsible or intentionally violent while they play. But, new rules are in place that diminish this style of play. The amount of concussions can be reduced, and organizations are working on making football a safer game to play. In an article on the New York Times Marvin Washington, a former NFL player, says, “I know this is contrary to public opinion, but the game of football is safer than it has ever been, and is evolving into an even safer game.” The safety of football players at all
