Gear Up has been very beneficial to me. It has provided me with a variety of events that have been useful to my everyday life. For example, HESTEC’s Latina Day has opened up my views on how I see myself as a Latina. There are many ladies out there who don’t think they fit in with a field of study where it is occupied mostly by men. Also, another event I participated in was a trip to the Edinburg Renaissance Hospital. This trip made me see how the medical field does need a lot of women on the job. Both have helped me see that no matter what the gender or race you are, women are powerful and essential for everyday life.
Everyone aspires to succeed in life. I like to dream big and follow through with my plans. My plans for life beyond high school
In sources of strength, the members are chosen as someone who would be a person anyone could come up and talk with if they were having a bad day. Also, as seniors we have two seventh grade kids that we mentor. I do this because I remember how hard it was being a seventh grader and not really knowing much about high school. Once a week we sit down and talk with the children. I always love the stories they have to tell and I truly feel blessed when I can help with anything they are struggling with. Whether that be something in school or something at home, it is so fulfilling talking with them. This activity has taught me what it means to give back to a school and to these kids who need my help. I love service and I spend a lot of time trying to help others with problems. Sources of strength has let me do just that. I have learned what it means to be a leader. This is a large responsibility I do not take lightly. I know the actions I do will have an effect on others, so I try to make sure those effects are positive at all
While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
In the past, I have volunteered for our bands fundraiser every Christmas, which we host at our high school. It is a unique moment in time, to see the joy of children's faces as they walk into the school that morning for Breakfast with Santa. Being able to put on a performance for those children that morning brings joy to my heart and keeps me coming back each year. Another event is the Special Olympics held in Houghton Lake. Students from our school every year go and help setup and run the Special Olympics. Helping out and getting to talk to participants is an honor and has created new relationships with people. I want to be able to give even more back to my wonderful community through the National Honor Society by volunteering and helping as much as I can. Meeting new people, and helping them in ways that can change their life can have a permanent effect on one's self, and NHS opens that
I also hope to help as many people around me at the same time so that they may have the life that they need. I wish to gain the skills needed to work with people as well as learning fast so that I am able to take on tasks without much difficulty. I want this to be a time to grow and find a place for myself in this life so that I can do as much good as possible. I expect to accomplish my high school degree with the highest gpa possible from where I am at in my schooling. I expect to learn valuable life skills that I can share with others in my life.
My only life time ambition I have for myself is to be able to help each and every individual who comes my way needing help, becoming a social worker, a foster mom, and to adopt a child with Down Sydrome. I know and understand that my dreams might be a bit over my head for the average person, but I will accomplish them. At the end of my life when I am old, have gray hair, and my eye sight is even worse that it is now, I want to look back at my life knowing I was able to help everyone I possibly could.
Life goals are something everyone wants to accomplish, but how will they do it? Well, I have a few life goals and a plan to make it happen. My life goals are so important to me I have already started to accomplish them. These goals will take time to accomplish, but I’m on the right track.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
For me the privilege walk activity it was eye-opening. I had the idea that this activity was going to be difficult because of the video we watched in class. After, we had done the activity ourselves I felt speechless because I sometimes feel that I do not have the same or equal privileges as others. This activity helped me realize the privileges I have, and that I was too blind to notice them. For example, when we went back to class we talked about having the privilege of being right handed. Being right handed is a privilege because a notebook or opening a can is for right handed people and left-handed people must adapt to it. In class, a classmate mentioned that in her school the teachers would teach them how to write with their right hand.
Fashion club also allowed me to do something I love, which is giving back to people who are less fortunate. This year I created a donation clothing drive that not only the members of fashion club could donate, but as well as my fellow classmates and even the faculty and staff. By getting the school to rally up for a greater cause we can help the about 58,790 homeless people living in Los Angeles alone and less fortunate living in Southern
People have a lot of goals they want to accomplish in life. For example, going to college to be a doctor. Or to become a teacher, it just all depends on what your dreams were set to be. For me it’s something

If you take the time to get to know me, you will learn that I am ambitious. My short-term goals would be to do well in my first year of university. “Doing well” in my opinion consists of obtaining an A to A+ average, this will give me a good base for the upcoming academic years. Moreover, I would like to become more confident when speaking in front of a large group. Lastly, in the long-run my goal is to obtain a Masters in Business which will hopefully allow me to acquire a well-paying job. With this job I hope to be financially stable to start a family. Most importantly, I would love to live a long, healthy, and happy life.
