Freedom is a very sacred privilege, which in some countries is a right that a lot of people take for granted, while in many other countries there is no freedom and the people are ruled by a dictator. Freedom is what people desire for and it is one of the main reasons that many people yearn to come to America, it is a subject in which you must demand and fight for, freedom is never just handed out, you must fight many cases of countries that have freedom rights got them from revolutionary and civil wars. One of the more recent cases of people demanding freedom was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the african american population. They demanded that they were to be treated as equals and not segregated. One of the milestones of this movement was
the speech “I have a dream” delivered by Dr. King. In this speech he says, “ But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free…”(King). He is referring to the Emancipation Proclamation which was passed by President Lincoln this document said “all slaves in states still at war with the Union were free.” But still even with this document one hundred years later the African American people were still discriminated and segregated. This case of people demanding freedom is a prime example of how you must fight for freedom it will not just be handed out. “The Gettysburg Address” by Abraham Lincoln is a dedication to a plot of sacred land for soldiers who gave their life in the civil war. In this speech the president says “that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain-and that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom”(Lincoln). In this case of a battle for rights of freedom there is a civil war going on between the northern part of the country and the southern part of the country. Over the south not giving certain rights to people that they are guaranteed to have. Some people may say that there is no need to fight for freedom that it will be given to you. But this is wrong we can look at “ Baseball's Jose Fernandez…” He was a cuban citizen under the rule of a dictator Fidel Castro, according to Craig Davis the author of the article, Jose Fernandez “made four attempts to defect from Cuba before successfully reaching the United States.” This means that Jose wanted to leave so bad he put his life at risk not one, not two, but four times to try and escape. He wanted to get to America so he could have freedoms. Jose Fernandez became a citizen “in April 2015 when he attained his U.S. citizenship”(Davis). He made the most of the opportunities he was given while having the freedom the he fought for. Freedom is something all people desire, freedom is what creates unique and original ideas and people, without freedom there would be no happiness or enjoyment in the world. That is why people must stand up and fight for freedom so they can get the rights that they rightfully deserve.
What is freedom? Many people define freedom as a natural right, the human is born with. I believe, we can be free only if we respect others rights to be free too. Freedom is an innate right which humans have since their birth. However, different people have different opinions and definitions of freedom.
God has given us as human beings free will. Although if we make choices based on our own free will we must be willing to take the responsibility for the effects that our decisions have on ourselves, on the people around us, and on society itself. Freedom, I believe, is the way in which people live or behave without others annoying or interfering in his or her affairs. People should benefit from freedom, equality and justice. Absolute freedom is sometimes very dangerous and may destroy the basic principles of the society. A lot of people believe that freedom means doing whatever you want, whenever you want.
What is freedom? Freedom is the ability for every individual to have complete control of his life, the ability to make his own decisions. From the moment an individual wakes up in the morning to the moment he lays back down to sleep in the evening, thousands, if not millions, of choices have been made. Some of these choices have had negative consequences, and some of these choices have had positive consequences, but regardless of the outcome, there remained the freedom of choice.
Do you consider your life full of freedom?Perhaps you overlooked some freedoms and took them for granted. Freedom is defined as having the power or right to speak, think, or act without hindrance or restraint. There are many examples of freedom being demanded. Even America has had its share of wars for freedom from the Revolutionary war to the Civil war. Freedom is never given, but demanded.
Freedom represents something greater than just the right to act however citizens choose it also stands for securing to everyone an equal opportunity for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. According to society today, freedom means more than just free to do say and do anything you want. Taken literally, that approach would produce anarchy every man, woman, and child for himself or herself. Fortunately, none of us has to live that way. Freedom is the quality a person has with controls over his or her own life, and nobody can control them or tell that person what to do. Complete freedom is very hard to obtain in today’s society.
Freedom is open to anyone who will fight for its existence, even if that fight is only to say that they yearn for it. On the most part, we see freedom as free. If we want to go out at 3:00 a.m. for ice cream and shotgun shells, we are "free" to do just that. We, as American citizens, are accustomed to many freedoms that we sometimes take for granted, such as the freedom to speak out against anyone who is trying to infringe upon our civil liberties, the right to choose who will represent us to the rest of the world, and the freedom to make and change any rule set forth if it does not apply."
When most people think of freedom, they think of being free from a higher power which can be true depending on the scenario. Freedom comes in all shapes and sizes. Freedom is the right to behave a certain way, speak a certain way, or think a certain way, all of which you are free to choose. Freedom has a number of ways that it can be viewed. In some cases,

If someone were allowed to make their own choices and were being told what to do; then they would not be free. When someone is allowed to speak when they want to, and say what they want; such as their opinion or view of something. Being allowed to have a right to speak is one of the most important characteristics of being an American. Thinking and stating your opinion in any predicament it a strong part in being a citizen because people in the United States are known for being able to think in their own ways. Freedom can stretch too many things such as being able to do as they please, they are not forced into doing anything that someone may want. The American Ideological Consensus is that “…the American people have shared much of the same ideals, the same basic principles, and the same patterns of belief” (McClenaghan 104). When America filled itself with ideologically homogenous people, their beliefs started to define our nation and became American identities. If asked what they think of America, peoples of other nations would say that the roads are made of glass, opportunity is in the air, and civil rights are plentiful. These accounts maybe accentuated; however, the underlying message is that the American people have more freedoms then the peoples of other nations do. The most widely known American identity is freedom, and even though that American identity has been tried and tested throughout much of its history, it can still be said that America is a land of liberty.
Perhaps the most exclusive aspect of American freedom is stated directly in the Declaration of Independence. It states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" (Jefferson). This well-known statement truly incorporates all facets of what it means to be free in America. The citizens of this country have the right to live. Every day we exercise our freedoms without giving a thought as to how lucky we are to have the freedoms that we do. So what is freedom really? Equality, rights, democracy . . . these are all ideas that come to mind. But what are the essential principles of true freedom? True freedom is constituted by safety, the ability to freely express oneself, and the right to live without oppression from government.
When referring to freedom these words are often associated with freedom: Liberty, independence, sovereignty, autonomy, privilege, immunity, and indulgence. Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and justice. Independence is granted by freedom in the sense that an outside party does not control you. To gratify ones desires by whichever ways they choose is freedom through indulgence. Privileges are g ranted through freedom. In some countries the dictator or ruler makes choices for their people on regards to what profession they shall have or to what religion they shall worship. In the United States we have special privileges that let the people of the country decide on their own religion and professions.
A lot of high school graduates continue off to college. Some may choose to join the military, while others may choose to work in the family business. Whatever each person decides to do they have that choice because of freedom. Freedom is doing whatever one wants within the law. It is the ability to make choices for oneself and to pursue the things that make an individual happy without regard to race or religion. Freedom also gives us the right to have the choice to vote a specific candidate. Freedom is something many Americans fail to appreciate. Americans are fortunate to have the privileges and rights that we do. Americans must realize that freedom should be treasured; for some people would give anything
“Freedom.” It is a word with many different connotations, but symbolizes one central idea: Liberty. Freedom has always been deeply embedded in the history of our nation. Throughout time, many Americans have fought for freedom. From the Pilgrims, who set sail from England to the shores of Cape Cod to escape religious persecution, to the Founding Fathers of America who fought for freedom from England’s oppression, our fellow Americans have always fought for what they believed in. They gained certain freedoms that they thought would not only be important to them, but to future generations. However, it is evident that society today does not value those same freedoms.
