Diversification, academics and children’s mood has improved with better meals. There needs to be a larger and wider food menu variety for children with the school education system.
One reason schools should expand their menu is because, the variety in meals will make children feel like they have more power and choice in their school careers. Refined foods can mess with this.” This proves how foods can affect the brain state of a mind so if a child is given a wide variety of food options in school it is likely their mood will improve and stabilize and not dampen because their bodies regulation system can consume what it wants keeping their mood better making them physically, physiologically, literally, and mentally, in control of their meal choice. Now from this it shows the evidence portrayes that a wider school lunch variety will improve mood and make the student’s feel like they have power and choice.
Now for the next reason to show why a wider school lunch meal choice would be beneficial is that a better nutritional meal can improve academics. One reason our school should get a new lunch menu is many students do not like the food served. For example, a survey was taken and of the 31 students 100% said they disliked the food. As student Bryan Huang said, “The lunches are horrible, they need better choices and more choices.” In other words, the food is not delicious and there are not many choices. As a typical college student, I suffer from daily stresses, lack of sleep and lack of a proper diet. I have pulled countless all nighters; my body and brain fueled only by coffee, chocolate and pizza, in order finish a paper or study for an exam. As a result, I may have done better on the paper or test, but I was being very unkind to my body and brain. In terms of nutrition, it is important to think of the brain as just another organ in the body. The food and other substances we put into our bodies affect our behavior, mood, thoughts and emotions. The brain responds very quickly to proper nutrition. However, as a college student who dines daily in the dining hall, I most likely do not get the nutrients needed to maximize my brain potential. In this paper, I'm going to take you through a day of brain friendly meals and explain why our brains and bodies need more than coffee, chocolate and pizza to thrive and survive.
First, longer school lunches will cause classes to be shorter, resulting in less learning time. The students will not gain information quickly, and would have less time to ask teachers questions. Teachers would have to stay at school longer. Teachers already have to stay after school to grade assignments, and bring work home as well. They will have to plan lessons and grade. If they do this, they will be extremely tired and will not be attentive in class. If they are tired, they could fall asleep in class, and might not teach the best that they can. Students already having less learning time will get terrible teaching and information, and then they will not be smart. Non-intelligent students might not get into university or college, and would have to work without a degree, earning little money. Longer lunches will have an impact on teachers, and students' futures. The school district should not agree to have longer lunches, as it will be awful for students.
Eating has taken its toll on people who live in the United States. One of the largest problems that people have is deciding how much to eat and what is healthy to eat. It was determined in the 1930s-1940s that the brain has a tremendous impact in controlling our eating habits. The main part of the brain, which controls this, is the hypothalamus. To begin, school meals do not set a solid foundation for children regarding the diet habits they will have for the rest of their lives. For example, they are teaching kids that greasy pizza and corn dogs are a part of a healthy, nutritious diet. One student says, “We think school lunches are healthy because they have all these posters in the cafeteria telling us to eat healthy food and be active; we think the school is doing their part by serving us healthy food too, but they are not” (Jimenez).
