Equality is an enormous issue in today’s society, so imagine a world where everyone believed in equality would the world change? Equality has been a problem since the civil rights movement. Although, some issues have been solved not everyone is equal. Even though there is going to be less violence, the world would not change if everyone believed in equality, because different ethnicities, laws and restrictions, and rebellious people are an issue. First, laws and restrictions are an issue. The government and other agencies can prevent equality by creating rules. “Everyone gets a lifetime maximum of one hundred points… according to the FSEB.” (95). Rebellious people can create problems that can lead to controversy in the world. “Pain grips my wrist… Dane!... I try to pull away, but he holds tight.” (216). Dane was a part of the story to create more conflict in the book. He is treating everyone disrespectfully. He seems to always be jealous. Secondly, Jenna’s father broke some restrictions. Although, he has invented Bio Gel, the FSEB can still arrest him and the rest of the Fox family. In today’s society plenty of rebellious people are still living in our world. People with unusual traits, and cultures can be judged all the time. Getting rid of cultures and religions is not an option. “The white house… looks well cared for… he steps out… his hair is as white as the other boy’s hair was black.” (52-53). Jenna recognizes uncommon traits. “Lily drips her hand in the holy water, bends her knee… moves her hand like a musical note across her chest.” (260). Jenna’s fiend Dane has pure white hair. Jenna immediately notices his hair, because she hasn’t seen anything like it before. In the same way of thinking, the fox family are obviously Christians.
