When people think of the word dedication, their focus is athletes, but everything that is worth the time and energy, requires a certain amount of dedication. Dedication is what founded this free world. High school or college students, doctors, lawyers, teachers, every occupation in the world requires dedication. When cancer patients are diagnosed and are going through the stages of destroying the cancer, they have to stay dedicated to their selves. Dedication is the commitment of an individual or a group to perform a task. The athlete is usually the first example when thinking about dedication. Unlike a normal student, an athlete requires more focus to make good grades because of the amount of time spent in sports. These men and women go through hours of detrimental training so that they can put their lives on the line for freedom. The people that go to special training for special ops or the elite seal team go through a course that would physically and mentally kill normal people. They do this so that when they are called out to war they have the advantage over the enemy. They might be gone for a couple of months or they might be gone for a couple of years away from their family and friends. They can be up for hours in the dark without any supplies and be being shot at from the distance. The commitment of these men and women is outrageous and they do it all for the well-being of American citizens. As my father always says, “Storm the Beach,” this phrase shows the dedication and commitment that the men had during D-Day. These men knew they were going to be shot at when the gates on their boats dropped, but they still knew that in order for freedom to continue for their family and friends back home, they had to go on that beach and give it their
