Sports have been one of the avenues that have united people around the world. People have been able to put aside their differences to enjoy a good sporting event. One sport that has demonstrates such togetherness is cricket. Cricket has evolved over the years to becoming its own sports territory. There is a hierarchy of teams and players based on their performances at the matches. This makes Cricket the type of sport that has its culture, its people, its influence and its treasures.
Cricket is played by an eleven (11) member team consisting on batsmen and bowlers. This sport has certainly lived up to its expectation of the word team, as seen in the video, with every player contributing towards to a goal, winning the match. The players represent

To the fans, being at the game is very important as they get to enjoy and to witness, be part of, the record breaking moments. The presence of the many fans at the stadium has kept the game on its high horse. Fans have moved from being most males at the beginning to seeing more females in the later years, and now it has become a family oriented sport. Every man, woman and child can share in the excitement of the game. The fans take the game to the homes, the beach, the streets, the schools, or anywhere a bat, a ball and a pitch is available. Young and old, rich or poor, no matter what language you speak, you are fans. There is no class with cricket. There are just teams; everyone belongs to a cricket team, just as seen in the 2011 cricket song video. The teams performs well the fans are elated, the team performs badly, the fans are disappointed but they are still cricket fans and would attend or watch the next cricket match. We the fans in the West Indies are famous for this reaction, if our team loses the match, we complain, but we are still up early in the morning or we gather long the street side, in shops, at home, at work, anywhere we get to watch the next match. And if we win, it’s the topic until the next match. So it builds up the expectation of the people. Everyone waiting in anticipation of which team will be victorious at the next match. This is what cricket means to its people, it’s more than just a game, and it’s a
Lets look into the psychology of being a sports fan shall we? A loyal fan likes to represent his/her team in the best possible way. Loyal fans cannot stay away from the game. They will support their respe...
To me the role of sports in society is for men and women of all ages to grow and develop and be responsible members of society and the community. Sports can bring a community together as long as it doesn 't become the religion of who we are as christians. It also gives us a different setting to interact with each other and learn from one another so we can become better as a whole. Coming together as a community and being able to learn and have fun is probably one of the most important aspects to me when it comes to sports. There should be no reason that parents have to get into arguments because of a call a referee makes in their child 's game. Also sports have become a bigger deal in society then just about fun and learning the sport. A great deal of it, at the higher level has so do with economics and social status’. Players with exceptional talent are now seen in commercials and have huge salaries to play sports or even at the college level earn scholarships to get into colleges for free. I mean hey, if your that good then good for you!

Sports really shape our society, and culture. You will not find very many people who do not have some love for at least one sport or another. There are so many sports out there that people love and will always watch the sport of their choice.
Sports are the biggest source of entertainment around the world. There are many sports in America, but baseball is our pastime. Baseball is what started America’s interest in sports, and millions of people love the sport to this day. A baseball game is a very special event. Attending a game makes you realize that baseball really is more than a game.
The importance of fans is vital because in addition to skill talent and hardwork, fans greatly affect how a team performs in their games. They affect the way a player plays because fans have a way of getting into their players heads and the opponent's head, even the referees are affected by the fans and we rarely notice the importance. In 2001 a Sports Ethics article “ The Ideal Fan” by Myles Dichter he explains the importance of fans and connection between fans
Sport fans, sometimes also called sport devotees, followers, or supporters, are persons who are enthusiastically devoted to a particular athlete, team or sport. They may show their enthusiasm by often attending sporting events or watch on television, being members of a fan club, follow sport news through newspapers, online websites, and creating fanzines. Their disposition is often such that they will experience a game or event by living through their favored players or teams. These behaviors manifest itself in different ways. To enable better understanding of these behavioral patterns, we have to classify these sports fans into groups based on their devotion to teams: fair-weather fans, bandwagon and the super-fans.
The scent of the stadium filled me with happiness and joy I felt when I was playing. It did not matter the team I was watching or stadium I was attending, being in the park overcame me with wonder. My father would view the look of awe on my face and would look back to his childhood and experience the same feeling I had when he was a child going to games. Surrounded by the fellow fans of the sport and the sunny blue sky gleaming on the field made the experience a feeling I would never forget. Once the game started, I was unable to take my eyes away from it. The screams and cheers of the fans allowed the feeling to be ever greater than it was. Witnessing the players run onto the field and begin to play the game made it seem like it would never
Sport and identity together have a unique relationship in which any regional or national place can use sport as a means to create a sense of identity. The relationship is complex and varied. Identity can be explained as understanding what or who a person or a thing is. Sport is capable of creating a feeling of nationhood and this is an important factor. It is important too for a nation to create a sense of identity but it is especially important for a regional area. For a small country to host a major sporting event is a significant achievement especially with having rivalry with bigger neighbouring countries. Nationalism can be expressed in a less aggressive manner through sport because there is a clear winner and loser; it is a clear cut way of asserting superiority of your notion over others. In this essay, one regional and one national example will be looked upon to see how they use sport to assert their sense of identity. Cricket in Yorkshire County Cricket Club will be used as a source of a regional example and rugby in South Africa will be used as a national example. We will look at the factors they used to inflict sport as a means to promote their identity and also if these identities are sustainable.
Sports should be regarded as originally intended: strictly as a form of entertainment. These days, while it is considered entertainment, it is actually much more serious than that. Sports are productive – to a certain extent. When people cross the fine line between fan and fanatic, that's when sports are brought into a new dimension. That's also when the business side of this entertainment approaches the spotlight.
Sports may have impacted our culture much more then we thought it would, and keeps impacting. Sports have affected some of the most important aspects of life, such as jobs and money. It has also affected things as little as who we look up to and how we dress. Culture means “the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.” The definition of sports is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” So when we put two and two together we get a a nation or world that has changed due to sports. Back in the mid and late 1900’s sports were used to see whose way of life was better. As time went on and keeps going on, we
“Sports are for fun, but they also offer benefits and lessons that carry over into all aspects of life”. This well-known anonymous quotation conveys the message that sport is the game which has some rules and custom. It is not only for fun and entertainment, but there are also some benefits of playing sports and which gives some important lessons for life. Every kind of physical sports is healthy because it involves running, jumping, stretching, mind skills and much more. There are so many sports available in the world nowadays, but we can categorize them by the numbers of players, the three main categories are individual sport, dual sport and team sport.
Sports matter to a very diverse population. There are several benefits to sports such as bringing communities and other groups of people together. Participating in sports can also have health benefits which can therefore improve academics in a very positive manner. For all of these reasons, and many more, sports matter to people all around the world. This is important because people who may have not discovered sports yet or who may have been hesitant can now open their eyes to the wonders of sports. People can see what sports mean to others and realize what they can mean to them. They may not be for everyone, but sports do matter.
Sport creates friendships between people who would not normally communicate. This is great against racism since when people support the same ideals, they have something in common. This encourages communication between people and friendships between different people. Joe Humphrey says that sport creates “barriers between groups” which I think is wrong since people start friendships with all religions due to sport unifying people when supporting the same team.
