In scientific terms, Earth is considered many things; it harbours life, it’s the third planet away from the sun, it’s mostly made up of water, however amongst all it is home. Like any valued possession people must treat the Earth with the care and respect the planet deserves with cleanliness and preservation. Unfortunately due to the disbelief of cleanliness and lack of care, Earth is experiencing issues that happen when it’s nature isn’t preserved including climate changes and global warming. Climate change and global warming is not a myth and not enough is being done to preserve the Earth’s natural resources. In fact, climate change is already impacting the Earth and could change the environment beyond recognition by the time this generation’s …show more content…
For instance, in the Paris agreement more than 20 countries pledged to take action and help prevent global warming, climate change and promised to inhibit the temperature from increasing beyond 2C and keep it at 1.5C. However, the nations pledges have made little difference and The Independent, a London newspaper, asserts that, “in a major analysis of 10 different studies into the effect of what world leaders promised to do, researchers calculated that the planet was still on course for a temperature increase of 2.6C to 3.1C by the end of this century” ( “Paris Summit Pledges” ). That is to say, that it is clear that even though the countries who signed the Paris agreement and promised to make changes to prevent the temperature increase going above 2C and keep it at 1.5C are currently not contributing enough or are otherwise lacking in some way since the temperature is still estimated for that high increase. Greater effort is necessary to prevent further implications of global warming and climate change. Despite the fact that the increasing temperatures has been slightly reduced by curbing carbon dioxide emissions, John Von Radowitz claims that, “ Only ‘immediate and substantial’ reductions in greenhouse gas emissions can hope to prevent ‘massive’ impacts on marine ecosystems” ( Radowitz ). If the world continues …show more content…
By way of example, Walter Stark, denies the fact that global warming is even legitimate, “ global warming is a distant and uncertain possibility of a problem that most likely does not even exist” (Stark 46). Stark believe that global warming is nothing more than a rumor. Additionally, in the article Global Warming Is A Myth, by Harry C. Alford, Alford argues that global warming is merely a distraction that was procured by president Nixon when he suggests that, “ president Nixon saw it as a diversion from the anti-Vietnam War movement and the pressures of the Civil Rights Movement” (Alford). However, science is proof enough that global warming and climate change are real. There are numerous studies and research which proves not only that global warming is real but show just how great the effects from global warming have increased. Particularly, Roger Di Silvestro, from National Wildlife, states how, “ the global average temperature has risen 1.4 degrees F since 1750, a significant amount in terms of the world 's overall average” (Silvestro). The facts, scientific data and research that has been collected all validate that global warming and climate change are no
middle of paper ... ... The impacts are already happening around us and are likely to impact fresh water resources, food, coastal systems, and natural ecosystems. Animals and plants have already begun to change the way they live, yet are vulnerable, and if no action is taken, may leave us horrified with results. Yes, we need to continue to hold industries accountable for their greenhouse emissions slowing down global warming, but we cannot stand on this decision alone.
Our world is always changing, so is our climate. Some changes are apparent, others not so much. Climate change is an important issue of concern in the twenty-first century. Environment, if it changes at all, evolves so slowly that the difference cannot be seen in a human lifetime (Wearth, 2014). Mostly all scientists predicted that it would take thousands of years for the planet to warm up due to emissions of carbon dioxide from fossil fuels called greenhouse gases. But in the past 200 years, things began to change. The rate and the amount of warming that is happening on this planet are unprecedented. Wearth says, “People did not grasp the prodigious fact that both population and industrialization were exploding in a pattern of exponential
The earth is in danger because of pollution and over usage of natural resources. Everyone has the ability to contribute to the conservation of the earth just by changing a small part of their everyday life. There is a lot wrong with the way the natural world is being treated by humans. Different arrangements can be made to the way we live that will improve the condition of the planet. There are ways to manage waste disposal, so that usable materials aren’t wasted and landfill space isn’t unnecessarily filled; such as reducing how much resources are used, recycling things that are able to be, and reusing materials that have the potential to meet other needs.
Due to climate changes, we are a “gradual and uncertain rather than immediate and obvious” process, we as humans cannot understand it (Jamieson, 102). In addition, climate change effects have no geographical bounds and because very few people pay attention to events that occur beyond national boundaries, most people are oblivious to its existence. Jamieson makes the point that climate change must be thought rather than sensed, and we as humans are not very good at thinking (Jamieson, 103). On top of that, even if we succeed in thinking that something is a threat, we are less reactive than if we sense that it is a threat. Since we cannot even comprehend climate change's presence in our world right now, it also makes it extremely difficult for us to comprehend how our anthropogenic actions of today will affect future generations all over the world.
The most well-known and discussed is COP21, in which “The Paris Agreement” was drafted. It has been seen as a pivotal point in climate change combatance by many people as all the present nations, both developed and developing, agreed upon an initiative to keep global warming below what most scientists say is the critical threshold of two degrees Celsius warming by 2100. Not only does this force an important change in environmental policy across several countries, but it also demonstrates a unity never before seen before on this issue. Interestingly, however, after the goal of the agreement was set, each nation was able to submit its own plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The earth, unfortunately, isn't a figurine or a car or a recliner. Man did not create nature, yet we feel we have the right to use it in whatever manner we see fit. And like those items, one day we may regret what we have done. We will look for a way to fix the Earth, a way to make it better, and one will not exist. We cannot glue the ozone layer back together. We cannot paint over the missing trees of the rain forest. We cannot buy a new species of animals. Our actions today have long term consequences. Are we ready to deal with them?
Climate change is an inevitable phenomenon that is being experienced globally in various forms, such as temperature rise. Sea level rise, droughts, floods, hurricanes, landslides, etc. According to the fourth assessment report of the IPCC project, even with immediate implementation of mitigation strategies, global climate change will continue for decades. Climate change is inflicting serious consequences on human wellbeing and will continue to inflict damage in the future. It is estimated that global temperature will rise by 1.8 oC - 4.0 oC by the end of the 21st century (Izaurraade, 2009).
When negotiations to address climate change failed in 2009, countries walked away with a better sense of how to make an agreement work. Using past failures as a guide helped launch a “bottoms up” approach in which each country set its own goals, enabling the Paris agreement to work for everyone — the best way to ensure change. The deal asks any nation signing it, of which there were 196, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to regularly increase their ambitions. The agreement requires that ratifying nations “peak” their greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and pursue the highest possible ambition that each country can achieve.
All over the world there are many different ecosystems that make up our planet. These ecosystems revolve around stability. Their stability is determined by the environmental factors occurring within the system. Among the factors involved there are many that we as a people cannot control. Climate, weather, and things like these are elements which we cannot mediate. However there is one factor which the human race has a lot to do with, and that is pollution. Pollution puts the factors of stability into a bind. It destroys habitat and resources for all living things. Not to mention that it puts a severe strain on our atmosphere. It also poses a serious health risks to those organisms that are operating survivors of the environmental battering. Since we as humans are the only organisms capable of recognizing these threats to our world, we are also the only ones who can put a stop to it. Pollution is and always will be a factor, our mission is not to eradicate it but rather to reduce the contributing factors and educate the population of their self-destructive habits. Negligence towards the earth's wellbeing is far from a new subject. Scientists in the particular field of environmental biology have always been aware of the earth and its needs. But not until the sixties did the general public start to become aware of the earth's distress. The bottom line comes down to a few major contributing factors: earth's population creates more waste than it can store, the production of CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons: aerosol cans, factory exhaust, car exhaust), and negligence of personal contribution. These three factors are, quite simply the downfall of the environment. With these factors in existence, a call to action of sorts is necessary. Throu...
Due to the increasing and obvious sign that the Earth is sick, humankind should step up in order to prevent the continuous health deterioration of the Earth. This is because taking care of Earth is no longer an option – it is a necessity. With the continuing effects of a sickening Earth such as global warming, natural disaster and pollution that is threatening the environment and humankind, it’s hard to say that our planet Earth will be the way it is today in the future. Without Earth, there would be any of us and that is why it is important for us to save the Earth before it’s too late.
We all belong to the same world and all of us have the same responsibilities towards the world and its environment. This fact might be hard to digest, but if we continue to pollute the Earth at the current rate, all of the world’s ocean waters will become one-hundred-thirty percent acidic. This means that the ocean will be unable to sustain most of its marine life and only a few creatures will be able to survive in the water. A big population of people think that they do not or have few responsibilities towards the environment. People think that the governor of a country should take steps to help the environment. They leave it to scientists since they have the technology to prevent pollution, or that is what most people think. There are more responsibilities to the world each individual has than most of realize. The amount of negligence and ignorance of humans towards the Earth is taking a heavy toll.
For each individual, there are many ways to save the earth which they must know and do. First and foremost, people must
Environmental problems may seem as a concern that is beyond the reach of the masses. But, people can affect the environment through their own personal lifestyle choices. By furthering the awareness of environmental problems, humanity will be able to begin to overcome the challenges of climate change, finding renewable energy, and pollution. The populous needs to understand that combating these issues is within their reach and they can positively benefit the environment through simple actions. Most importantly, the world needs to work together to reach these outlined goals. Saving the Earth is a global concern and should be treated as one. Hopefully, humanity will realize the importance of environmental issues and find a way to make the world a better place in the future.
The earth is being destroyed by humans, more than ever due to society views on conserving. There is no denying that the environment is constantly changing. However, as the environment changes, so does the need to become aware of the problems that come with these changes. Our current environmental problems demand attention because if we don’t take action and, instead ignore these problems, the earth wont last as long as it should. We are destroying the earth with our lack of knowledge and responsibility. There are many ways we are harming the environment, but there are also many ways we can help it, even when we have no control over somethings, there are things we can do to make the earth better, such as switching over to solar and wind power, conserving water, recycling, and being more caring of our wildlife.
...as human we need to take care of it by following all the correct measurement. Maybe, the smallest action can bring huge difference to the world and help to save the ecosystem. Any extinction species can be preserved and make a plantation to help the world green. Cut off any unnecessary activities that bring damage to the surrounding. Besides, generate of energy also can be changed with alternative ways like renewable energy that must be more clean and safe. The fossil fuel source also will not remain exists and will run out someday. Take a good action and care for our world as we live on it. This because the world content all the sources we need to survive like food, water, shelter and etc. The most important thing is to start activities and usage that are environmentally friendly, for example, organic foods and materials, natural gases, less electrical use and etc.
