Recommended: Define the importance of accountability
Accountability, as defined by the merriam-websters dictionary, is the quality or state of being accountable. This leads us to ask the question, what does it mean to be accountable. To be accountable is to be responsible. We are held accountable if we don’t do homework in school or if we do something we know we shouldn’t be doing. There’s always an after effect to what we do. All people are held accountable for themselves, for others and what other’s trust them with.
You are held accountable for your actions. There is always a consequence to everything you do. If you rob a bank you are held accountable and face the consequences. If you volunteer to perform a good act you held accountable and deal with the consequences. Accountability can

If you see your friends messing up or falling to the temptations of the devil you must stop them or help them.. The Bible says in Galatians 6: 1-5 (ESV), “Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. For each will have to bear his own load.” You have to support them and encourage them to do the right thing. We are held accountable for letting them sin we must support our brothers and they should be able to trust us. If someone was to trust you with a secret, they expect you to not tell their story and not to judge them. You are now responsible, accountable, for their secret. You must be a good example for them and you both should be able to boost each other and make each other better. According to Proverbs 27:17 (ESV), “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” You shouldn’t laugh or tease them about their secret, or go out and spread their news. You are held accountable if their secret gets
Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than“willingness” while you have to be willing to do it as well. Those that are unable to be accountable are the ones that jeopardize the combat readiness of any unit. Basically it is the understanding that from the bottom up. Top down and laterally everyone is going to do and is willing to do the right thing even when no one else is looking. This is practiced at your home base where everyone is assigned tasks and details not only including your own job that you are expected to do and do right but hold others accountable as well as a system of “check yourself, then check your buddy.” Doing the job correctly and ensuring others do it as well and do it safely are all part of accountability in the military as one does not have to experience combat to understand that just being in the military is inherently dangerous given the types of equipment and weapons that are used to train and deploy with. As an example any live weapons range you go to part of the safety brief is “everyone here is a range safety” meaning anyone can call a cease fire if they observe dangerous behavior or a situation regardless of rank and it can be a Colonel or a brand new private, does not matter. As such in that event everyone becomes accountable not only for the operation of the range, the mission objective to have everyone qualify but do it in a safe
• Accountability: We don’t say, “It’s not my fault” or “It’s not my job.” We take responsibility for meeting our commitments – our personal ones as well as those of the entire organization. We take ownership of the
Responsibility may be defined as "a form of trustworthiness; the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct." (www.thefreedictionary.com) Responsibility is shown all through Fred Gipsons novel Old Yeller about a family living in the dangerous wilderness in 1860. The young hard working Travis, his loving mother and the loyal dog Old Yeller all show responsibility.
Taking responsibility is “the state or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management” (dictionary.com). When you decide to take the responsibility of something or someone then do it to your greatest ability and do not leave any stones unturned. In the novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley determines the role of responsibility for the welfare, acts, the deaths and the lives of others. Taking responsibility means being accountable for your actions, accepting the mistakes and taking the ownership of the mistakes that come along with one’s actions. Taking responsibility does not mean that all the actions will go as planned but accepting the consequences even if they do not go
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines accountability as: “the quality or state of being accountable; especially: an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one 's actions. Accountability is one the most important aspects in the military and civilian life style. Holding Marines accountable for their actions and having every Marine and piece of gear assigned to you accounted for is required at all times. It ensures the safety and stability of all the Marines.
Responsibility is a lot of different things and has many different parts. One part of responsibility is social responsibility. Social responsibility is being responsible for people, for the actions of people, and for actions that affect people. Social responsibility is about holding a group, organization, or company accountable for its effect on the people around it. When you do the wrong thing, many people pay for it, especially everyone that you know.
Accountability is a subject that covers everything from knowing how many diapers are left for the baby, to knowing how many AT-4 Rocket launchers are in the Platoon, who has them, and how experienced they are with using it. If you hold yourself accountable for your actions then your superior will not have to, because you already know the proper course of action to take to correct your issue, and to present any change to them so as to keep the Unit in working condition, and the Corps able to complete its mission.
The most simple dictionary definition I have found is: The quality or state of being accountable; an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one 's actions. Accountability can be applied to many situations in the daily life and it can easily be overlooked in the civilian world, but when it comes to the US Army or any military branch, accountability is one of the most important things. That is why is instilled in every soldier since the moment they are shipped out to Basic Combat Training. The whole Army needs accountability to keep operations running 24/7. From the PVTs, all the way up to high ranking officers, we all need to be accountable for our assigned equipment, location/status, personnel, and our actions. If we are not held accountable of our

Upon committing a crime in Canada, a judge must determine not only if the accused did in fact commit that crime, but also if they were in control of their actions by assessing their state of mind. Accountability needs to be determined of an individual action to be convicted of crimes. An individual does not have accountability of their crimes if they have no knowledge of their actions or do not understand right from wrong. If the accused is found that they were not in control of their actions, and have no accountability to the crime they committed they are deemed not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder (Nevid, Greene, Johnson, Taylor & Macnab. 2001). Regarding not criminally responsible individuals, an extensive assessment needs to be conducted and public safety needs to be accounted for. Canada has made great improvements on the criminal code and the way not criminally responsible individuals are cared for.
"She is a really responsible person." "He doesn't take responsibility for his actions." "She was responsible for the accident." How many times have we heard statements similar to these? A definition of responsible might be accountable, reliable, dependable, or trustworthy. Based on my observations and experiences, I believe many people have a problem translating that into their everyday lives. If something bad happens, it must be someone else's fault, or someone should have to pay.
The parents’ accountability may vary for different ages. For example, an 11 year old boy shot and killed an 8 year old girl when she refused to let him see her puppy. He went inside the closet and used his father 's 12 gauge shotgun to kill her. In this case, the parents should be held accountable because this shows bad parenting. The child should not have known where the gun was kept, it should have been in a more secured place. The child’s
I have always had a hard time learning how to trust people. The one person I found that I could trust with everything was my sister Brittany. I could always go to her and let her know if I had done something wrong. She would assure me that she would not tell anyone if I didn’t want her to. I knew all my secrets would be safe with her and that nobody would find out unless I told them. This was very important to me because I haven’t had very good luck in finding people whom I can trust. Brittany has never told anyone a secret that I told her. Knowing that I could trust my sister with anything helped make our relationship stronger.
Political Accountability is regarded a necessary condition for all political systems, and can be defined as “a process of being called to account to some authority for one’s actions and involves both answerability and taking responsibility”.
Responsibility accounting is the practice that focuses on providing financial information useful in evaluating efficiency and effectiveness of managers or department heads, on the basis of financial performance directly under their control. Responsibility accounting is also based on the assumption that every cost incurred must be the responsibility of one person somewhere in the company. Examples could include; the cost of rent being assigned to the person who negotiates and signs the rental agreements; or the cost of an employee’s salary being the responsibility of that person’s direct manager, or human resources manager (S. Bragg, 2010).
