College is a place where students explore their individuality and particularly, what career they would like to pursue. Most students have an idea of their major or field they would like to go into. In my case, I want to go into the art field, but at the moment, I am unsure of what major to take. Architectural Studies has been in my options due to the incorporation of art and buildings in which I find myself in awe at the creativity put into the building structures. For instance, I love the imperial palaces in Asia, such as the Forbidden City in China, as the curvature of the rooftops, the intricate designs, and the pillars contribute to the overall beauty and aesthetically pleasing structures. Although there are many other majors in the art …show more content…
People have to go through a long process to be able to officially claim themselves as licensed architects. They would need to go through “completing a professional degree in architecture, gaining relevant experience through a paid internship, and passing the Architect Registration Examination” (“Architects”). The first two steps are typical for most careers, but the Architect Registration Examination is not. It did not occur to me that I would need to pass an exam which sounds stressful. However, I know it is necessary for a job like architecture as it deals with developing buildings which should be safe for the public so it is important that one understands the fundamentals and have the knowledge to create public buildings. Architects should have analytical, creativity, organization, technical, and most importantly, communication skills, to succeed in their jobs. Communication is vital in this career due to the interactions with coworkers, clients, and other professionals. In the field of architecture, an individual needs to be able to work with others well as there will be many times where one will need to collab with others on projects and to communicate their

Intro Deciding what you want to study during your college career can be a difficult and tedious task. This is due to fact that many young adults coming out of high school are unsure of what they want to do or what path to take career wise. It is also tedious because this requires that these individuals have to constantly try and explore new avenues so that they can find their passion in life. The path I chose to take when coming out of high school was entering the business school at Howard University.
I currently attend Tennessee State University as a freshman. I plan on majoring in Dental Hygiene. I am the first to graduate and attend college in my family so of course everybody has high expectations from me. My mom and dad sacrificed a lot for me to attend school and get a good education and they taught me that without education you really can’t do much with your life. I want to have a good career and a good degree so I can be successful in life. I want to make my parents happy and very proud of the young lady they have raised. My father’s dream has always been for me to major in Dental Hygiene because of how successful I can be. And my dream has always been to make my dad (my inspiration and my role model) happy. When I started off trying to decide my major I had a very hard time because I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to choose a major that I couldn’t really do much with or find a good job with. I asked my dad for help and he told me that this major would fit me perfectly and we looked up more information about it and we looked up the salary for it too and that’s when I knew I had found my major.
The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopian novel written by the Canadian author Margaret Atwood. In this book, Atwood shows that no one is a beneficiary in a totalitarian, patriarchal society like Gilead Republic by revealing the oppression facing by different characters in the story. Even though this book does not have a sophisticated setup for background, Atwood still successfully ties the story to the real world that we live in and leads us to think about the question she asks in the book. Since this book causes people’s profound rethinking of the problems that we are facing now (e.g., infertility, low birth rate, public good vs. personal rights) and the writing is fantastic, it is definitely a worth reading book.
Determining your field of study can be difficult. This decision will impact the rest of your life. The major you decide will determine what job you go on to pursue in the future. With extensive time and thought, I have decided I want to major in nursing, and minor in dance.
Before you start to think about a major, you might ask yourself why you should choose a major in the first place. There are several answers to this question. The first one is very simple: choosing a major is required by the university. Every college will request you to select an area of concentration, usually called a major. Each major has a set of requirements: number of courses, electives, and comprehensive examination. The general goal is to require the exploration and understanding of a body of material and of the techniques needed for mastery of that material. This is the university’s view on the requirement of a major.
One of the most important decisions an undergraduate will make will be deciding what they will major in. This academic and life choice will ultimately decide how an individual will view their college experience and help guide them with their future career choices. Choosing the wrong major can be too stressful and overwhelming for a student with more course work than expected. On the other side of the spectrum, the wrong choice in a major will not challenge the individual to bring out their full potential. “Ideally, a major will leave a student academically successful, as well as fulfill academic, personal, and vocational goals “(“The Pennsylvania State University Division of Undergraduate Studies,” n.d.). For most college students choosing a major is a difficult decision, especially when they are not mentally and rationally matured. When choosing a major it is implied that most people are logical and rational, and that they weigh the pros and
I’ve just entered my senior year of high school. I know that this is a very important year. I have a lot of decisions to make and not much time to make them. These decisions will either make or break my life, and I want to make sure that I make them to the best of my ability because there is no turning back. I need to make sure I definitely want to attend college. The decision is totally up to me. There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I know myself better then anyone else, and I won’t let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in. Choosing a major can be a very stressful situation so why not sit down and take some time to do it? Be creative, don’t rush, give yourself plenty of time and really think about what interests you in life. My major is something that I will want to enjoy, something that I will be doing for the rest of my life. Why would I want to be miserable at something I do in life? In two short essays: “College? What’s in It for me?” by Steven M. Richardson, and “What It Means to Be Creative”, by S.I. Hayakawa, I can relate to my major very well. Athletic Training is something that takes skill, as well as being creative in your own way. No two Athletic Trainers are the same. The more creative I am at whatever I do, the better off I will be. I hold the keys to all the doors that can ...
After this year of practice, I have to take a two-day exam and produce a long document detailing all my architectural experience to date. Throughout your time in practice, you have to fill out logbooks every three months, detailing every hour you've spent on a project, what you've learnt and what you hope to learn in the following months. Then from January through to September, the RIBA will start sending me through information packs which outline topics I need to understand, and suggest what I should be reading – there’s a lot to learn. When you qualify, you gain the right to call yourself an architect, so they've got to make sure that you are not only capable but an asset to the profession.
This career is also incredibly rewarding because you get to see and experience your work. You can see its progress and how it looks once it is finished and then even after that you can still experience it and see how other people react to your building or the place that you have designed. Only after seeing how other people interact with your building will you know if it is a success or not which is like no other profession. Lots of professions are very instantaneous, did you save someone, did you teach properly or have you added correctly but architecture is something that lives on even after you are gone. It is something that can immortalise a person which is incredibly poetic.
Imagine designing a dream home with all the color and space conceivable. This illustrates the work of an interior designer. A career in interior design allows innate abilities of creativity and organization to be practiced in satisfying a client's desire for style and flare in their home or workplace.
When it comes to choosing what career to follow, colleges offer many different major, minors and electives to choose from. Students get to choose what classes they want to take, whether it has anything to do with the career they want to pursue, or if they want
In order to prepare for this career in my future I would need to attend a college involving designing, fashion designing, and a type of art. The education I would need would be a two year to four year college for fashion designing and a one year to three year college for interior designing. These careers take a bachelors degree in some place of art. In order to want to attend college first of all I would have to maintain an acceptable grade point average of what I would possibly assume of a 2.5 or higher depending on the location of the college as well as the skill learning level of the college.

There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer’s goals are similar, there are many different things that engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering.
