Credit card use has been growing and it has had wide effects on city economies such as Hong Kong. The reasons for growing credit card use may be that the credit card is a useful and popular payment tool which has also been used from in the 18th century and originated in Europe. The use of credit card commenced between traders, companies and their customers, such as in United States, where oil companies and hoteliers provided credit card and permitted their use for the customers.
