The Hunger Games Director Francis Lawrence did an outstanding job on this film. It is one of the most suspenseful, thrilling, and astonishing movies I have seen yet. This movie is based on the Hunger Games Trilogy. The Hunger Games is about a girl and boy named Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who both live in district twelve; a community full of poverty and dictatorship. Every year Panem, also known as district thirteen, randomly selects one girl and one boy from each district to fight in the annual Hunger Game. The action and storyline were well planned out and continued to keep me on the edge of my seat. Critic Al Alexander stated “Not only does Lawrence mesmerize, she also single-handedly carries the movie during its clunky beginning in which characters are rapidly – and vapidly – introduced.” I agree, Jennifer Lawrence really transformed into Katniss Everdeen. I could feel her emotion during struggles of this movie and really kept my focus on her. Josh Hutcherson seemed a little too quiet and withdrawn from his character, almost as if he was scared to really take on the role as such a strong woman’s lead. I pictured a much more masculine male to take on the role as Peeta. Hutcherson really struggled with this role and could not keep me interested in his struggles and sympathetic
One of the main products of this movie that popped out to me was the stars. They all seemed to be great actors even though I only knew one of them. For example, I thought that Ian Michael Smith did a great job portraying Simon Birch. He made the movie cute and funny all at once. I also thought that Joseph Mazello did a great job portraying relatable feelings in the movie. You could tell by his facial expressions what his mood was. The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.

The plot of The Hunger Games revolves around killing other people to escape alive. Much like the boys on the island, the characters in this book follow the same descent into savagery to kill to survive instead of hanging onto the last bits of civilization inside them by following their morals.
