The holocaust was a horrible event that seems to terrible that it could never happen again, but that might not be the case. Hitler took crucial steps that overtime allowed him to be the dictator of Germany. He was able to brainwash most of Germany into thinking he was harmless and he was there to help the people. In a period of twelve years, Germany went from an emerging democracy to a dictatorship that eventually committed genocide. Hitler used methodic methods to gain control over Germany. Some of the measures Hitler took to become dictator was, the hyperinflation, propaganda and manipulation of children.

Hitler and used his right hand man Joseph Goebbels to spread as much propaganda as possible. “Goebbels left nothing to chance. He controlled every word heard over the radio or read in a newspaper or magazine.” The propaganda spread by the Nazis helped them rise to power. “The power to label ideas, events, groups, and individuals was central to Nazi efforts. Such labels made it clear who were the heroes and who were the enemies. In the process, the Nazis defined themselves as the guardians of the “true” Germany and the custodians of the nation’s glorious past.” All of the propaganda over the years got into the people of Germany's minds and they started to believe it. Two of the biggest ways he did this was the Hitler Youth and the school systems. “In such groups, said Hitler, ‘These young people will learn nothing else but how to think German and act German... And they will never be free again, not in their whole lives.’” Since Hitler was able to brainwash the children from the beginning he was able to use them to promote his ideals. “The Nazi schools are no place for weaklings. All children must, of course, finish the primary school before they are ten; but after that schools are proving-grounds for the Party. Those who betray any weakness of body or have not the capacities for absolute obedience and submission must be expelled.” Hitler needed to fully submerge the children in Nazi culture. The Nazis need them to be perfect little soldiers and they would accept nothing less, because of this they had the support of the youngest generation who is growing up as Nazi soldiers and supporters and that is a big reason for how Hitler became the dictator of
