The Holocaust
The holocaust was a mass murder of Jews in Nazi Germany. The Germans killed about 6 million Jews throughout Germany. The holocaust started on January 30, 1933 through May 8, 1945. For over a decade the Germans were killing Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, in concentration camps through injection (Ravensbruck), gassing, or killing centers. The holocaust was stopped because of World War II when America and other allies started taking over the camps and advancing over the Nazi.
The holocaust started on January 30, 1933, 10 days after Adolf Hitler was named the chancellor of Germany. The holocaust was started when the German nations looked to the Nazi’s for help because the world was going through a depression. The German government
(Nazi) enforced the concentrations camps because they believed that the Jews were the problem and this would make the nation better. The biggest concentration camp was Auschwitz in Poland Germany. This camp was active from April 1940 to January 1945. This camp killed about 1.1 million Jews alone. There were more than 40,000 concentration camps all together. Throughout the 12 years of the holocaust, between 5 to 6 million Jews, homosexuals, gypsies, and disabled people were killed. The first concentration camp was in Dachau, established on March 1933. This was the first regular concentration camp that the Nazi established. The main purpose of the holocaust was to completely exterminate the Jewish race in Germany. The Jews were always blamed for the bad things happening around Germany even if they had absolutely nothing to do with the problem. The great depression effected America but also the whole world. Germany’s solution to the great depression was to get rid of the Jewish. The holocaust and the concentration camps started to end in 1944, when America and all of the allies against Germany started advancing and taking over the camps. May 8th is the day that is labeled the end of the holocaust. A lot of people say that the holocaust never happened because there is still a strong hate toward Jews and because this mass murder of 6 million people is hard to believe. They say that these concentration camps were never there and that the diary of Anne Frank is a forgery. Today there are more than 200 memorials for the victims of the holocaust. The purpose for these memorials is so we don’t forget this tragic event and how many of these people were killed.
The Holocaust could be best described as the widespread genocide of over eleven million Jews and other undesirables throughout Europe from 1933 to 1945. It all began when Adolf Hitler, Germany's newest leader, enforced the Nuremburg Race Laws. These laws discriminated against Jews and other undesirables and segregated them from the rest of the population. As things grew worse, Jews were forced to wear the Star of David on their clothing. The laws even stripped them of their citizenship.
The Holocaust began in 1933, when the Nazis were beginning to have the most political power in Germany. The leader of this political party was Adolf Hitler. Based on many historians, Hitler was the one who stared the Holocaust,
Adolf Hitler came into power of Germany in 1934. Wanting power, land and revenge, Hitler gets troops ready to attack. Hitler was a troop in WWI for Germany. Once the Germans lost the war, Hitler took that personally, and wanted revenge. After coming into power with his army of Nazis, Hitler is quick to blame Jewish people for all the harsh debt and corruption in Germany. The Germans believe him, causing them to hate Jewish people. The Holocaust or the Ha-Shoah in Hebrew meaning ‘the day of the Holocaust and heroism’ refers to the period of time from approximately January 30,1933, when Adolf Hitler became the legal official of Germany, to May 8,1945. After the war was over in Europe, the Jews in Europe were being forced to endure the horrifying persecution that ultimately led to the slaughter of over 6 million Jews with about 1.5 million of them being children as well as the demolition of 5,000 Jewish communities.
A holocaust is defined as a disaster that results with the tremendous loss of human life. History, however, generally identifies the Holocaust to be the series of events that occurred in the years before and during World War II. The Holocaust started in 1933 with the persecuting and terrorizing of Jews by the Nazi Party, and ended in 1945 with the murder of millions of helpless Jews by the Nazi war-machine. "The Holocaust has become a symbol of brutality and of one people's inhumanity to another." (Resnick p. 11)
It all started with the poor social and economic status of Germany in the 1920’s. Most of the country couldn’t even afford simple things like food and water. This was due to the Treaty of Versailles from World War 1 were it stated 4 conditions. These conditions were that Germany must have a small army, they must pay $6.6 billion for retribution from World War 1, a lot of their land was taken away and they had to accept the blame for World War 1. This made the people of Germany very angry and they thought that it was too harsh. In January 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. He swore to rip up the treaty and secretly began to build up Germany’s army. Whilst Hitler was Chancellor he segregated the Jewish population from the rest of society, they were seen as a ‘deformity on the body politic’ and were feared by the German middle class, this was due to Hilter’s use of propaganda. The final main event before the holocaust started, was The Night of Broken Glass or Kristallnacht this occurred on the 9th and 10th of November when the Nazi Party attacked the Jews in Germany, their homes and buildings. 30,000 Jews were arrested, 91 killed, 500 shops looted and 1000 synagogues

1933 -1939 as well as Adolf Hitler and his racist views which influenced thousands of Germans. The main reason for the holocaust happening was that Germany had been anti-Semitic for many centuries, and during those centuries. anti-Semitism gradually got worse. The Holocaust began in 1933 during World War II in Germany when the Nazi regime under Adolf Hitler 's rule attempted to wipe out the "inferior" people of the country. This primarily included Jews, but also included Gypsies, the disabled, some Slavic people, Jehovah 's Witnesses, and homosexuals. By the end of the Holocaust in 1945, more than 6 million Jews had been killed. [17] Of these 6 million that had been killed, one and a half million were children between ages zero and eighteen. By killing off this many children that were Jews, the Nazi regime hoped to exterminate the core and root of the Jews. [18]
It was in December 1948, when it was approved unanimous the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide at France which became the 260th resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations. What made the leaders of the 41 States create and sign this document in which the term Genocide was legally defined? This document serves as a permanent reminder of the actions made by the Nazis and their leader Adolf Hitler during the Holocaust where more than five million of European Jews were killed. In summary I will explain what were the events that leaded the ordinary Germans kill more than six million Jews in less than five years. To achieve this goal, I will base my arguments on the Double Spiral Degeneration Model provided by Doctor Olson during the spring semester of the Comparative Genocide class.
