The History of the Chicago Bears

Not very many people know much about the Chicago Bears and what their past was like. They have also had a lot of good players. Examples are Harold Grange, Gale Sayers, and George Halas. But the most well known was Walter Payton. The Bears stadium was one of the oldest known until it was rebuilt. The Chicago Bears are one of the most well known football teams in the whole NFL. The Chicago Bears are a very well known team in history because of their history, there Hall of Fame players, and because of its stadium. As a football team, the Bears have a very rich history

The Bears have had a very long history. They have been playing since the league started. The Bears have played all ninety-three seasons. Not all seasons have been winning seasons, but a good majority of the seasons have not ended in loss. They have created a legacy just as the New York Yankees have created their legacy. They have the most retired jersey numbers with thirteen and the most pro football hall of famers with twenty-six players. That is a very impressive feat for a football club. (Hitory by the Decade)

Over all their years in playing football their record is 739-544, and they have forty-two ties. They also lead the NFL with that record. They have not always been called the Chicago Bears, though. When the league first stared out they were called the Decatur Staley’s. They were called the Staley’s because the A.E. Staley food starch company funded the start of the team. In 1921 the team moved to Chicago and became the Chicago Staley’s. They were called the Bears because of the Cubs baseball team. Former player George Halas became the coach and was given 5000 dollars to keep the Staley’s name. In 1922, he changed the name to the Bears to reflect the Cubs basebal...

...001 they destroyed the old Soldier Field and built the new Soldier Field. They began construction of the new field in 2002. While the stadium was being built the Bears had to play in Champagne. The new stadium has many new features that the old stadium did not have. The stadium has a 250 foot granite wall to honor the men and women who have been in the service. There are also two 96 by 23 foot video boards, eight thousand club seats, and a hundred and thirty-three luxury seats. The new stadium is much better than the old one. The Chicago Bears are known for having up and down years. But in the past they have showed that they can become the big powerhouse in the NFL. They have a very rich past and will sure to have a very rich future. The Bears are one of the greatest legendary teams there is.
